He was absolutely amazing in The Ten Commandments, even though I laugh hysterically watching that film, and I don't think it was meant to be a comedy. And who can forget Planet of the Apes! There were like a dozen school shootings here in the U.S. alone in the last year (research, I'm not pulling that out of my ass, the media just decides not to care for more than a day if only a handful of students die) - and the perpetrators use a type of rifle most of the time (and the media misrepresents them as some other gun because they don't know the difference- sniper, machine gun, hand gun- nope) banning weapons would be stupid, but the laws need to change- this isn't the fucking revolutionary war anymore when the way dated amendment was written, and no British people are going to come knocking at your door and rape your wife- leave huge guns to the military and hunters- you don't need it for your protection and guns get used against the owners most of the time- they put you and your children in danger. Guess who else promoted gun control? Hitler, Pol Pot and Stalin. They succeeded. In the 20th century over 170,000,000 people died due to government genocide of it's own citizens. Gun control only advocates taking away firearms from civilians, the victims, not the government. Think about it. The 2nd amendment was introduced for Americans to protect themselves from enemies both foreign AND domestic. That means our own government, a bit harsh I know, but that's life. Gun control in America was first introduced to keep firearms out of the hands of blacks, the most helpless citizens at that time. I wish we all lived in that rainbow skies and gumdrop world that gun control advocates seem to live in, but we don't. Gun control takes firearms out of the hands of decent citizens and places them into the hands of criminals and oppressors. That is the ugly reality.
I prefer to view it like this–like many others in his career, his personal life and opinions stole away the spotlight from his body of work. His opinions no more affect his work than Michael Jackson's run in's with the law affect the quality of his music.

i'm almost positive that owning a gun and not caring if others own them legally shows that you are homophobic and/or racist. how those correlate in the minds of you all is beyond me. however, in my honest opinion, making guns illegal would not make gun crimes go down any further. most of the people who commit crimes with guns didn't even have the gun legally to begin with, so it wouldn't have effected their ability to obtain one. thinking of the columbine kids, does anyone know how they got possession of their guns? i don't believe kids of their age could get a gun, if i'm not mistaken. if you look at most crimes like school shootings, the kids stole them from the gun cabinet at home. at that point, i guess it comes down to bad parenting and detecting mental defects. getting back to mr. heston, i think he was a fantastic actor (and this is coming from a 19 year old girl) whom i've seen portray many characters in classic films. it's a tragedy that anybody has to die, i don't care if you believe in what they do or not.
