Re: Jesse – HAHA. Exactly my point! That's what I was trying to say dipshit. Again let me spell it out for you… YOU CAN'T LEGISLATE MORALITY. As in you can make all the rules you want. Man is evil by nature. You can't control people and just make rule after rule. You can't force them to be better by taking their rites away. You can't play God. You will always have people breaking the speed limit, stealing, killing, being homo's, lying… cheating on thier wives. You can't play God. You can try but you can NEVER morally change people by just "trying to legislate it"… It doesn't work. What happens is your become not a democratic state by trying to do so. You become like the USSR. So again. Read the wording and let it sink in. you cannot legislate morality in men and control them. you can try. But since the beginning of time between God and Satan we ALL have to make that choice ourselves. Some belive and some don't. Freedom… Rules are here to try and make us better and we need them but you can't control "human conciousness and morality" as behind closed doors people will STILL find a way to do whatever they want… it's called sin…. evilness… u cannot morally legislate it and expect it to work.
Re: dumb –
So the next time your mom is raped and your house is robbed and you are tied up and you have no way to defend yourself, don't come crying to your gun because you'll be tied up and unable to use it… idiot. And gun control DOES stop gun deaths. I live in Australia, where we outlawed guns a good ten years ago after a massacre and the last one of those we had was, hmm let me think, ten years ago! Idiot. It's true gun control won't stop ALL gun related deaths but it'll go a long way in stopping the majority. Just a thought, and stop me if my logic is a bit lacking, if it is harder for anyone to get hold of guns, then it is harder for anyone to get hold of guns!! Wow.
Also, Charleton Heston WAS a great actor in that he was great at acting, but that doesn't mean he was a great person and that we should make out that he was just because he is now dead.
Re: lj – I totally agree with you! What *is* the world coming to? It makes me wonder what it's going to be like once my children are all grown up, as well as for their own children. It's all so disturbing.
ME: "A person has died, people! Have some respect about that. Don't be so hateful!"
Re: mel mel – ok… I enjoy a good conversation/debate so I am not saying you may or maynot be rite or wrong… however let me just ask you this then…. So say I am mad at my girlfriend and I wanna kill her and I live in Australia. So I can't find a gun so I stab her…. So big deal! She's still is dead! So how does outlawing a gun help in that situation? People that want to kill will kill… Guns don't kill people, PEOPLE kill people. I don't have all rite things to say but just sayin… I dunno.
America has very stringent laws regarding firearms already in place. No one, not the NRA or Charlton Heston advocates ANYONE possessing a firearm illegally. I think there is a lot of confusion on this issue when this topic is touched on. Anyone who thinks that the NRA advocates illegal possession of a firearm is horribly misled. They only advocate that firearms should be available to the law abiding citizen in accordance with Federal and State laws. The confusion comes in because there are many misled people that think firearms should be illegal to every private citizen. Not a good thing because only criminals would have them in that case scenario. It's very important that law abiding citizens should be allowed to protect themselves. Legally.
Re: Another tyrrant gone – Another nasty man is dead? Are you talking about Martin Luther King, Jr. or Charlton Heston? They fought for the same thing. Rights for all Americans. I'm sure it wouldn't hurt if you and anyone that reads this to check into it. You might be surprised who you are condemning.
It's one thing to refuse to pronounce a word like nuclear properly but insisting on calling the Russian leader "Vladimer" instead of Vladimir is just plain rude. The President of the United States is a very rude man.
you say so sad to this guy you really are a FUCKWIT…you spend all your time slagging off little girls about being ugly WHEN YOU ARE A MONSTER give this arse your sympathy…you really are a FUCKING WANKER
well, in my opinion, you americans have a lot of freedom, but you just don't seem to appreciate it, by many of the comments i see. do you thank edison every time you turn on a lightbulb? no, you don't. but every time something goes wrong and there's a gun involved, heston takes the heat for it. you just have to be more responsible really, and get off charlton's back. deepest condolences to the man's family.
I'm sorry, but this does not make me feel sad, except for his loved ones who will miss him. Anyone who so avidly supports gun use is kind of an ignorant person, even if they are some legendary actor. Also, he lived a long life, so it's not such a tragedy that he should die now.
He had to be an american actor who ruled "the cid" marvellous film about the legend el cid campeador who won the arabic invasors in Spain. The film win with the years. His wife was Sophia Loren. Descanse en paz
Re: replying –
Thank you for not calling me any names and addressing me politely, it's always so nice when people do that .
In answer to your question, guns won't take violence away forever, of course it won't. I live in Adelaide and that is commonly considered the murder capital of the world even with gun control (I would disagree, the majority of murders here are by people the victim knew and not gun related, but that's another issue all together). But if someone makes up their mind to kill their girlfriend, to use your example, the girl will have a heck of a better chance fighting him off then if he had a gun. Furthermore, if the man decided to attack her somewhere in public then the surrounding people will also have a heck of an easier time wrestling a knife off someone intent on murder then a semi-automatic without severely increasing the death toll. Now I don't live in some liberal rainbow paradise, like I mentioned earlier I don't live in a perfect violence-free world because we have gun control, but bottom line, I lock the door at night and forget about it. I really don't get the paranoia that guns breed. I can't imagine what it must be like to need a gun near you to feel safe. It just doesn't add up to me.
Re: Fuchsia – You want to worship him, go ahead, but if he had the chance, he would have SHOVED his conservative, right wing religious politics down everyone's throat! He happily would have replaced the Constitution with the bible and I would and WILL fight that ever happening! I am not some tween and I am well read enough to know the difference. You obviously think that you are going to control the comments on this board, but you will NEVER CHANGE MY FEELINGS ABOUT THIS MAN! I guess you thought him going to Columbine and waving a gun and a flag around was no big deal, but it certainly bugged me! I don't give a damn what you say because you are obviously made from the same cut of cloth! The gun passed to me that I own is not because of him, but is the result of the Constitution which he would have destroyed with his ideology! I keep that same gun locked away in a safe place and if I never pick it up for any reason, I will be a very content person!
Charlton Heston led the art contingent with Martin Luther King, Jr. in 1963. The first white actor to kiss a black actress on film. He refused to "go on with the show" when blacks were not allowed in the theater. The list goes on. He was a Democrat and a Republican. A very complicated man with a phenomenal life and in the end he will be remembered as a great actor, activist, patriot and someone that did what he thought that was right at the time, even when it wasn't popular. It doesn't get any better than that. He will be missed by our country.
He had guns and how many people did his guns kill in his life? Dont blame an object for a persons mistake. Read the Constitution of this great country or move to another one since its so horrible here.
Charlton Heston went against the grain of popular opinion to be true to himself and his values. This happened throughout his life. It's easy to ride the tide of least resistance (acceptance?), it takes a person of character and balls to do what he did. To stand up and say to his peers "Screw you, you're wrong". He carried it through too. He wasn't a person of words, he was a person of actions.
His acting career in of itself is phenomenal, his work for humanity will out shadow that great work. As it should.
Re: STOOPID NIGGLETS – Go and die you racist pig!! Hell has a place just for your ignorant, hateful, uneducated ugly ass!! The world needs to get rid of fuckheads like you!! Now come on world…get back to work and get rid of all racist dickheads!!
Re: Fuchsia – So what, the first interracial kiss on tv was with William Shatner, so big deal ( good for him too). There is a fine line between a hero and a tyrant and it is a line he frequently crossed! I am just happy he never gained any real political power, or we would have ended up in even more of a xenophobic, isolationist nation than we are already in! He would have gone against anyone nation or person that did not step to his Uber right wing fascist politics! He would have happily obliterated the line between (the christian) church and state! And while he may have been involved in the good cause of Civil Rights (as were MANY people), it was what he did in his later years that disgusts me! I read many 1st hand accounts from the students at Columbine after he went there and what he did there will also forever stain his legacy! And this is coming from someone who was once a Republican and is now an Independent. I'm not some liberal who opposes the death penalty ( although it is often unfair in practice) and I think that abortion is a horrible method of birth control, but still think that there are cases that may warrant it. He will NEVER be a hero to me! NEVER!!!!

Fuck all asswipe gringo crakkers! This old white man is nothing but worm food now! Stop talkin trash about Puertoricans you white ghost face bitches!!!!
MR.HESTON WAS ONE OF THE BIGGEST PROMOTERS OF CIVIL RIGHTS FOR ALL AMERICANS. MOST OF YOU SPEAKING ILL AGAINST HIM ARE UNAWARE OF HIS CLOSE FRIENDSHIP WITH MLK AND THAT MR. HESTON WAS A GREAT PROMOTER OF CIVIL RIGHTS FOR ALL AMERICANS. HE NEVER SPOKE AGAINST GAY RIGHTS EITHER. DON'T BASE YOUR ASSUMPTIONS STRICTLY ON MICHAEL MOORE'S FILM, BECAUSE IT WAS FILLED WITH PROFAGANDA (COLUMBINE). ALTHOUGH I ENJOY MOST OF MOORE'S DOCUMENTARIES, THIS ONE WAS FILMED STRICTLY VIA ONE ROSE-COLORED, ANTI-CHOICE LENS. I HAVE A GUN COLLECTION AS DO MANY LAW-ABIDING AMERICANS.
A good death! Now hopefully the NRA follows suit and no longer all American psychos and idiots and hot-tempered hillbillies can buy a rifle and kill innocent people in your country just because they "feel like it" (by far the HIGHEST crime rat ein the world, isn t it?!). Hope possession of guns will sometime restricted n the U.S. as it is already int he rest of the (civilized!) world!
It s quite obvious that easy access to weapons INCREASES crime and deaths!
This man stood up for something he believed in. You all at least owe him respect for that, whether your views are similar or different. At least he had the balls to speak his mind and was ostracized as a result.
Re: Sasha – Sasha, MLK and Charlton Heston had a close relationship and struggled through the '60s for civil rights. You didn't know that? Look before you hate.
Why so sad Mario? I didn't know you were a NEOCON. The NRA has finally lost their spokesman. Good! He was a talented actor, but his right-wing values were brutal and divisive.
NO, she is not comparing these two men together, but people please, you need to know the full history of this great man before you judge him by that slanted, one-sided movie Columbine. My uncle knew Charlton heston in the late fifties and sixties and told us that this man would go the distance for anybody that was being mistreated. He fully believed in the constitution of the United States for all of us and always put his money where his mouth was by contributing great sums of money to the causes that advanced human rights for his fellow Americans. That's why Michael Moore gets on my nerves sometimes because he twists and turns the truth to fit his personal agenda. If you want to know the real history of the Great Charlton Heston, then research his life and learn the facts, don't rely on Michael Moore's movie. That's the problem with young people today, we base our most important knowledge on what we see in a movie, even a documentary film is prone to lie and exaggerate the truth.
if you watched bowling for Columbine you would know that he was indeed a right wing gun fanatic with a genuine lack of respect for inocent victims of gun related incidents.
Well yeah, outlawing guns probably would have stopped it you twat. If they were outlawed, you wouldn't just be able to bob to the shop and pick up your food and stuff, and oh yeah, go on then, I'll have a gun as well. Prick.
Unstable kids being able to buy guns… it' sick. Before you can buy a gun, you have to fill in a form which asks you if you have any mental illness. How many people are truthfully gonna say "YES"?!?! Retard.
He was a good actor but a nutter. His behaviour after columbine was dispicable.
And of coourse gun control would go some way to helping stop mindless killings. Look at the stats.
As long as dumb americans go on about 'their rights' to bear arms then people will die.
'she's got sawdust in her veins.' anyone that knows where that line is from knows… he had no acting talent and no respect for the victims of gunfire. that dosent mean he shouldnt be mourned and given the dignity he denied others. all souls rest in peace.
Re: Jess – Charleton Heston had nothing to do with Columbine. Where do you get your information?
He did support the right to own firearms. For you to disrespect him makes me disrespect you, particularly at a time like this. Didn't your parents tell you not to speak ill of the dead. Keep that in mind the next time you choose to spout off.
Sorry, but this isn't sad. He was 84 and he was a conservative dick. I know people who died of cancer with small children or when they just graduated from high school. THAT'S sad. This guy lived to be an old age with great wealth and power. He could afford to have people take care of him with his disease.

F*** 84 is a long life!!!
Most of us will not live so long…
… I didn't like him a lot anyway (as a person)…
But he was probably loved by some… so, it's sad for us!
But the guy had a long life!
Would anyone here for $35,000 dig up Mr. Rodgers and eat his asshole? For $35,000 dollars??!!! Just curious… lemme know. I'm cereal.
Another nasty man is dead. Nothing more to say!
as actor he was good, as trigger happy grumpy old man he was bad and sad

Absolutely not.. this man was a facist and a racist and this is the first in years, I'm actually quite relieved someone passed away.
I sure hope he'll get in touch with all the victims killed by his positions when he was head of the NRA…

yeah sad cause he was a great actor. but he wasn't a great person, he's been promoting guns for the past decades, and that's shameful.
And as Sinclair Lewis said "When fascism comes to America it will be draped in the American flag and carrying a cross." Chuck carried a gun too!

Re: canuck – Ever heard of sarcasm?
A good death! Now hopefully the NRA follows suit and no longer all American psychos and idiots and hot-tempered hillbillies can buy a rifle and kill innocent people in your country just because they "feel like it" (by far the HIGHEST crime rat ein the world, isn t it?!). Hope possession of guns will sometime restricted n the U.S. as it is already int he rest of the (civilized!) world!
It s quite obvious that easy access to weapons INCREASES crime and deaths!
No gun, no deaths!
Re: Fuchsia – You've got to be a retard to compare Heston to MLK. Shame on you, you pathetic idiot.
r. i. p.
This man stood up for something he believed in. You all at least owe him respect for that, whether your views are similar or different. At least he had the balls to speak his mind and was ostracized as a result.
RIP Chuck
Re: Sasha – Sasha, MLK and Charlton Heston had a close relationship and struggled through the '60s for civil rights. You didn't know that? Look before you hate.
Oh well!! I seen him on Bowling for Columbine and was a real asshole and had no sympathy for the victim.
Re: German Duckei – Mind your own country.
One less gun toting republican… not sad at all!
it would have been ironically funny if the bastard had been shot to death. have a great day everyone!
Why so sad Mario? I didn't know you were a NEOCON. The NRA has finally lost their spokesman. Good! He was a talented actor, but his right-wing values were brutal and divisive.
great actor.
bad person.
end of the story.
Re: sara – I guess it would have been, but Charlton Heston was a Democrat.
if you watched bowling for Columbine you would know that he was indeed a right wing gun fanatic with a genuine lack of respect for inocent victims of gun related incidents.
Re: dumbo u sure are –
Well yeah, outlawing guns probably would have stopped it you twat.
Actually, he was kind of a dick. A major dick.
A conservative republican, pro-war, pro-gun, pro-hunting, anti-gay, anti-woman, anti-abortion dick.
I wouldn't say sad.
Re: PRICK HATER –
Nope, wrong. He was not a democrat. Try again.
I'm sure his family will miss him, yada yada…
good! he deserved to die i hope he suffered
Sad? The guy was the force behind NRA -
