Hahha, I seriously laughed when you said GREEN DAY is one of the best American bands ever. A band which consists of bleach blond, eyeliner, pretentious scene, emo, goth whatever terminology you desire almost makes it impossible for them to be the best

I love Basket Case, but this cover is pretty bad. The song is about going insane and shit, this song is too mellow.

I hate the people on here who judge Green Day based on American Idiot ALONE. They were a band for year and years before that album even came out! Yeah, they changed their look a bit for AI, but that doesnt mean they are suddenly posers and they suck! If AI bombed nobody would be saying that they are sell outs. Why is success always equated with selling out?? Green Day is a amazing, especially their older albums (ahem, Insomniac). And any true fan wouldnt bail on them because of some eyeliner. Get over it.

Green Day have the potential to become a classic band. They're not there yet, but they've been playing together for about twenty years, and they really do want to take themselves seriously, even if sometimes it makes me want to slap them.
GD wouldn't hate any cover of this song, but I think like someone said, it's not that this is too slow, it's that he puts no emphasis on any particular words whatsoever.
don't put them in league with avril and sum because even though their music sounds 'similar,' green day have a *bit* more cred because they sprung out of an actual underground punk scene.

But wow, to say they are the best american band ever is quite a ridiculous statement lol. If you or anyone backing this up had any sense or knowledge regarding real talent and music then you would know how ridiculous a statement that is. Seriously people, get a clue about what real music is and you would realize that green day itself has very little genuine musical talent and copy a lot of the stuff they do.

Well since I'm a HUGE Green Day fan, I heard this song when I was little, and although this version is pretty…After hearing the original version, this one is just well…an insult to it. It wasn't meant to be made into a slow song. The singer has a very nice voice though, and he plays the song beautifully on guitar.
