At least they are in Venezuela!
Dictator President Hugo Chavez has ordered that The Simpsons TV show be removed from all broadcasting in Venezuela.
Why?????
The animated program was deemed "unsuitable for children."
Apparently, the show was on the verge of breaching the "Law of Social Responsibility in Radio and Television."
The National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) said The Simpsons pushed “messages that go against the whole education of boys, girls and adolescents”.
The show will no longer appear in its 11:00am time slot. Instead, the government has opted for a more "educational" show.

They're playing BAYWATCH over THE SIMPSONS, because apparently Bart and Lisa are just too hazardous for kids to watch!
As of today, the NTC has yet to explain how a cartoon show is more of a threat to children than almost naked ladies, wet from head to toe, in extra tight bathing suits.
Elba Guillen, a spokesperson for Televen TV station, said “It had to be taken off. The government considers it to be a series that isn’t appropriate for that time because it isn’t appropriate for children.”
OMG!!! And Baywatch at 11am is appropriate for children???
The manager of Televen, Perez Nahim, said “We are hoping it will continue to have a good rating, because The Simpsons worked very well - so much so that it had the highest levels of viewership for that morning timetable in the history of the channel."
Yea, that makes sense, remove the highest watched cartoon show on the network.

The government is removing The Simpsons, because the show has positive social and moral lessons. Baywatch has no message, just boobs. It's a subtle way for the government to dumb down the people by controlling and manipulating media. A government like Hugo's doesn't want it's citizens to think.

I do agree the simpsons are not suitable for children under 8 (which is the rating for Canada) … my nephew (6 yrs old) saw it and now has such a dirty language! it's no good for children. It's a great show, but I'd stick to the evening.

No me voy a molestar a contestar en ingles… pero el dictador Chavez, personalmente, no mando a sacar del aire a Los Simpsons, fue Conatel el ente regulador. Me encantan Los Simpsons, pero es evidente que es una serie para publico adulto, quien la ve regularmente debe estar consciente de ello. Televen (la televisora venezolana que la transmite) lo hacia a las 11am, horario regulado, horario infatil. FOX Latinoamerica pasa la serie de noche, no la transmite discovery kids, ni cartoons networks… por algo es. Tampoco es solucion poner a Baywatch, con su Pamela Anderson mostrando sus poderosas razones… pero bueno, es Venezuela, aqui ultimamente todo es posible.
