And they have a bathroom dedicated to Madonna - covered in pictures from her whole career - you will die!! Then try Cobalt on 17th after dinner for more drinks and dancing. The upstairs bartenders are always shirtless and they are HOT.

I cannot believe how stupid some people are. This dinner does NOT take place at the White House. It takes place at a Convention Center or a Hotel banquet facility. Sheesh. It is called White House Correspondents' Dinner, because that's who does it. There are reporters who are assigned to cover the White House. OK? They are "White House Correspondents." Got it now? Stephen Colbert was an MC for it once and he really got Bush pissed off. Lewis Black did it once, too. They have comedy skits and joke and tease one another, like those Hollywood Roasts when comedians get together to joke about one another. Only here it is reporters and politicians picking on one another for fun. The big news organizations buy tables and invite guests to their table for the dinner. That is how Perez got to go.

Also learn that gas prices go up because of inflation… follow me on this one… inflation causes prices to rise. All prices, including the price of your labor.. i.e. your income! Once you factor this in, gas prices have been much higher in the past. Don't bitch about it if you don't understand it!!

Hey Perez, I'm a big fan of your site and I read it every day. I go to school in DC too! So awesome that you're coming! But I've been reading through some of these comments from fan about how Repubs shouldn't read your blog and about how the recession is all Bush's fault. Well, I'm sure that the war didn't help but economic cycles are just that, they just happen. WWII, if anyone remembers, got us out of the Great Depression so it's not like war intrinsically causes recession. Anyway, the point is that people should know what they're talking about before they go spouting off. Your celeb gossip is awesome but stick to it if your knowledge of economics and politics is lagging–only because I don't want you to look dumb!

First of all, we're not in a recession. Second of all, it's not President Bush's fault. The economy is based on a large number of factors…one of the small factors being who is actually in the Oval Office. I'm pretty sure there's a large number of Democrats in the House and Senate that have say over this country as well. Why don't you tell them a few things while you're at your dinner. By the way, you hardly have room to talk about how a recession might affect the country with all the money you make - it won't really affect you. And who cares about what Perez and LC think? Bush does not cut interest rates. The FEDERAL RESERVE cuts interest rates. Bush APPOINTED the chair of this but he has no further power over him once he's appointed. Congress does however have limited power over the FED.
And just to make it clear, the Fed does not flood the market by PRINTING MONEY. Ron Paul was driving me nuts a few months ago. Look it up, kids. It's really basic econ.

..BUSH DOES NOT CUT INTEREST RATES! The Federal Reserve does! Bush appointed Fed Chair Ben Bernake but other than that has no power over him. Congress does though and they even met with him recently so if you have a problem with low rate and a shitty dollar, blame Bernake and Congress (you can even go so far as to blame former chair Greenspan, because the housing crisis is HIS fault).
So sad that Americans have no understanding of economics.

Clinton did (yes, the recession in 2001 WAS in fact inherited from the Clinton presidency, and was in no way faulted by Bush, it was caused by the crash of the computer industry that was so popular in the late 90's, and well, you want his wifey to become President…)
Recessions are a natural part of the business cycle and will happen every several of years no matter who the President is. I'm not a huge fan of Bush, but I just thought I'd let you know what an ignorant douche that quote makes you sound like to those who know a thing or two about economics.
