“He got down on one knee and she said yes,” a family friend tells In Touch exclusively. A rep for the couple also confirms the happy news.
Ashlee and Pete just got back from Colorado, where Wentz's brother had an art exhibit.
During their getaway, the Fall Out Boy bassist asked the younger Simpson for her hand in marriage.
“She has an amazing ring, and they are so in love,” the friend tells the mag.
And, Ashlee’s parents, Popa Joe and Tina, not only approve but are said to be thrilled!
Update: The couple has just released a statement!
They say….
"We know there has been a lot of speculation recently about Pete and I and we wanted our fans to be the first to know, because you guys are the best. Yes, we are thrilled to share that we are happily engaged. Thank you for all of your support and well wishes - it means the world to us. We consider this to be a very private matter, but we wanted you to hear it straight from us. - Ashlee and Pete"

OMG!!!! I STILL CANT BELIEVE THAT PETE IS GETTING MARRIED TO ASHLEY!!!! UUUGGGGGHHHH!!! I'm sorry Ash, but Petey deserves somone better than you….preferably someone that can actually sing at half time during the super bowl….. and Pete, my only question is, "what did u ever see in her?!?!" i mean there are a TON of nice girls out there who would die to be with you, but ASHLEY?!?!?! i personally think that if they get married, she will want to have him by her side at all times and Ash will basically want to run Pete's life…. If Pete goes along with it, what will happen to FOB??? maybe i'm just paranoid, but hopefully FOB doesn't suffer from the marriage…. after all, FOB would be nothing without Pete, he's the one that put the band together and the sex symbol that draws the girl's attention to the band…. sure, the others are important too, i mean Andy and Joes awesome guitar and drum skills are essentiala to a great beat and what if Patrick lost his magestic voice and lip synched during an important show (sound familiar?), wouldn't that also give a bad name to the band as well??? GRRR…. anyway, the point is, all the members of FOB are important and if Pete slacks off because of Ashley it would really hurt the band and God forbid a split up…. My advice, DONT MARRY HER!!!
