DMX Causes Riots!

Times must be tough for DMX.
The rapper has hit the college campus tour!
On Wednesday night, DMX performed at Indiana University. The tickets were purchased for $25 through Lambda Chi Alpha.
Damn, $25? DMX is cheap….but not as cheap as Avril!
The concert was set to begin at 8:30pm, however, it didn't start until an hour later because of DMX's late arrival.
What a divo!
Unfortunately for concert goers, the concert was closed down after just three songs.
Lambda Chi Alpha had confirmed to the University that the concert music and noise would be over at 9:30pm (giving the audience an hour worth of music). When the music was heard past 9:30pm, police officers arrived to shut the concert down.
DMX was removed from the stage and State and Bloomington Police officers were called in when the crowd started to yell profanities. Crowd members continued to protest the concert's end. That's when things turned bad. Real bad. And rowdy!
Students in the front row of the concert were MACED!!!
Most students then rushed into Third Street, which had been temporarily closed.
Reports were then surfacing that some students rushed the stage, while other witnesses claim no one approached the stage.
IU student, Lauren Smith, claims the students "started throwing things at the police. It got pretty ugly and we thought people would start getting arrested. I never saw people on the stage. They threw trash, but that was about it.”
Sucks for the people that got maced. All to see DMX.

A rep for DMX tells us….
"Regarding the events that took place at the Indiana University DMX Children Uniting Nations concert last night, DMX was not the instigator nor is he to blame for the concert ending early. The Bloomfield police cut his show short due to the agreement that Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity had with the University that the concert would stop at 9:30PM because of a noise ordinance law. DMX, management and the promoter were not aware of this law. DMX feels its unfortunate that he could not fully perform for this charity show and he hopes to return to Indiana University in the future for another show."
I was there. In the front row and got maced. It sucked. AND there was a guy in a WHEELCHAIR right next to me. Like it was ridiculous. People were not rushing the stage and there was like 3 posters that were thrown on the stage, which had been handed out by an opening act. Basically there was no need for macing the front row. Some of my friends got it really bad and still have rashes and are coughing up blood. TOTALLY UNCALLED FOR!!!!!!!

o and a kid in a wheel chair did get maced he is paralyzed so he couldnt move. it was really fucked up. I hope he presses charges.

It's def. not fair to comment about the reasons for it 'only' being 25 bucks. When performers come to college campuses, the prices are always cheaper than a public venue. The university usually pays for them to come out of the student organizational groups budget that comes from student fees originally. Actually I think that 25 is a lot for a student to pay for a concert at their university. I got to university at buffalo, and we have big name performers come atleast twice a year, like snoop dog, akon, danity kane, christina aguilera, sean paul etc…and its always free to students and then like 25-35 for non students. Avril is def. a different story, she came to buffalo recently and tickets were super cheap and that was a public venue and thats lame for her. but at a university? not so lame. college students are poor, man. give it a rest.

I'm a student at IU and performers are ALWAYS notified of when they need to end the show. DMX chose not to arrive on time and the representative couldn't even get the name of our town, BLOOMINGTON (not Bloomfield) right.

f*ck that. whenever there's a show that starts late due to the performer's late arrival and problems arise from it, then hell yes the performer is to blame. DMX is a bitchass who probably couldn't be bothered to put down his blunt and get up on stage to perform. he should reimburse everyone who paid to see him. that is, if he has the $ to do so.

i could hear the ying yang twins from my dorm building, which is across campus. probably would have been able to hear dmx too if he had played for more than 10 minutes.

The real reason DMX was late to the concert is because he made the Lamda Chi social change the car they picked him up in….twice. First he wasn't satisfied because it wasn't a black SUV and then he made them change it again for a black SUV with leather interior! Such a DIVO!!! Little 500 is the best college weekend ever…no school can compare!!!
I attend IU and the frats are close enough to the school that it was convenient for them to have the concert over at an oppropriate time. DMX knowing his show here was to be at 830 and only held for an hour should have planned according to that and not have shown up so late to only play three songs. The macing wasn't done by campus or city police it was down by brothers of the frat….and yea as someone commented earlier the Ying Yang twins showed up on time and had a wonderful show that I got to watch so how come it had to go so badly for DMX? He coulda showed up on time and given a whole hours worth and everyone could've gone home happy instead of blinded by mace…..
I'm a student at IU and i was on third when things went nuts…. there was a lot of people in the street but it wasn't a full fledged riot. the police over reacted and shut down the whole street. my friends were in the front row and got maced after DMX tried to pass my friend Hennessy…..

this was not a riot. i was at the concert. the police shut it down at 10 pm cuz of a noise ordinance. after that, a couple plastic bottles were thrown and the police started spraying people with pepper spray. they even sprayed a young kid who was a paraplegic.

FYI, I Paid $59.50, so like $70 for my Avril ticket and it was SOLD OUT and guess what, she played about 20 songs and not only 3. No one came to shut her up because we were having the times of our lives.

so i was there when it happened and it was crazy. he did to songs and then told the crowd that he was going to pass around this huge handle of alcohol. when the po started to shut the concert down the crowd started chanting F**k the police and then the front row got maced. What do you expect, its LITTLE 5!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is so dumb! Yes there were problems getting DMX to the house because he wanted to arrive in a black SUV and not a BMW. It also doesn't help that He arrived about 9:20 or so (10 min. before they had to shut down) started performing at 9:50 (20 min AFTER they had to shut down) and then went on to only play 3 songs. The reason he was arrested was because he had an open container of alcohol on campus grounds and he was distributing to minors. And the frat guys DID NOT mace anyone!!! That was completely done by security who could not handle some trash being thrown and who felt threatened. I'm not sure what he thought was going to happen, everyone was too drunk to be that angry! Anyway, once people started getting maced the crowd emptied into 3rd street which just so happened to be behind the stage and as a result the cops shut down a few blocks. This was completely DMX's fault because he was informed prior to the performance at what time the show was to be over and should have known better than to distribute the alcohol. On that note… Everyone is back to enjoying Little 5 and the BEST college weekend ever! GO HOOSIERS!
ok… so i was one of the people in the front row of the DMX concert– i got maced in the eyes!! it was so painful, but hilarious that those "security guards" felt the need to mace people. there was no riot at all and no actions like that were necessary by any means. although i couldnt see for over an hour- its still funny for people to say they got maced at a DMX concert which was held on the front lawn of a frat— wow

Perez, you clearly don't know anything about college concerts! The idea is to book larger names for cheaper prices ’cause students are poor! DMX gets paid the same whether it's a college show or not though. And of course the university has noise regulations that prevent shows from going past 9:30!!! That's the way the world works - we all don't live in Tinseltown! DMX was getting paid to show up on time - his "star power" (yeah right) is not an excuse for being late and ruining the show!

geez, can't his people even get the name of the town correct? we live in BLOOMINGTON not Bloomfield. and the cops didn't mace the crowd, it was an outside contracted security company that somehow no one is able to identify even though SOMEONE obviously hired them. i blame the fraternity - they're full of stupid people who don't know what they're doing and shouldn't even be allowed to walk the streets, let alone plan an event. and no, just because you're famous doesn't mean you have the right to show up late. playing these events is your responsibility and if you can't do that you have major problems. bloomington has strict noise laws, even frats and washed up rappers have to follow them.
