this is so fake.. just a cliffhanger to wind everyone up and keep people waiting for the next week until they come back from vacation
Well let's see of howard finally has the balls to take care of business and finally get rid of the deadwood, or become ballless and take him back like he does with other midgits

Although Artie's outburst was expected to me, I found the whole thing to be really sad. I LOVE the Stern show and everyone on it. I don't want Artie to leave. He's great for the show and he would be greatly missed. I do think that this incident should not go w/out some serious intervention. Artie needs help. I really wish that he would just wake up and get his shit together.

Artie said to Howard when he came back in the studio, that he was talking out of anger and he didn't mean what he was saying. Artie has such a good heart, that he hates to say no to anyone. So, he just keeps it all inside of him and then he blows up when he can't take it anymore. Especially, when everyday he's told about his weight. Howard doesn't even know how that hurts someone no matter how they act when hearing it. Unless your the one who is over weight you have no idea how if feels. If your over weight (WE)you know it and don't have to be reminded day after day after day like Howard & Robin do constantly. Howard & Robin just don't know what its like not to be morning people. I go to bed at 3-4:00 a.m. and get up around noon everyday, I've always been like that. I understand how Artie feels. He's done a good job since he joined the show. I really love him on the show and hope he doesn't leave.
Believe it or not, I actually think it was a good move for Artie to leave the country for the weekend….he is so damn fragile, there's NO WAY he'd be able to handle the aftermath of this shit storm.

Howard will NOT fire Artie, nor will Sirius, my prediction is that Artie will be able to stay on if he wants to, but, I don't think his heart is in the show, anymore. I agree Artie has a big heart and is a good person. But he's in trouble. The first thing he needs to do is lose 100 pounds. He's a handsome guy and there's no reason for him to be so enormous. I do not necessarily believe he needs to remain on the show to save himself. Maybe by leaving the show he will find the time to get his act together.

UPDATE 4: On tonight's Superfan Roundtable Steve Langford reported that Artie and Teddy did board their flight to Amsterdam. Artie is in 1st class, Teddy in Economy. Steve said that he was told that they did lock eyes for a moment but didn't exchange any words.
On the wrap up show, a caller said he thought it was a bit. Gary said he normally doesn't swear on the lives of his children, but in this instance he swore on his children what happened with Artie was real.

Today's show was so upseting. I think Artie really lost it… really lost it. I bet he ends up in some type of food rehab or maybe even inpatient counseling. At the end he was so upset with himself. It was so heartbreaking to hear. I love Artie but he's really out of control.

Obviously many of the people posting here don't really listen to the Stern show. They listen to sound bites on "magazine" shows or read little snipits about the show. From what people say, one of Howard's biggest faults is that he is overly loyal to his friends and co-workers. I don't think this was fake or a publicity stunt, it seemed way too spontaneous to have been scripted.
I will say that Arte needs to get a grip on his life. The Stern show has elevated him to playing bigger venues with his stand-up act and he seems to be burning the candle at both ends. His act is really just a re-hash of what has happened on the air. If you've listened to the show, the act is somewhat boring. WITHOUT the show his popularity will fade and he'll have trouble selling out small venues. I'm SURE Jackie Martling is happy he left the show. Arte will follow him into obscurity if he really DOES leave.
Please Arte, get the help you need and don't meet an early demise like Belushi, Candy and Farley.
And by the way, since when is it a hassle to get satellite radio?? No hassle at all, and well worth the cost of the subscription.
That was terrible. I love Artie and I am very concerned that this will push him over the edge. The show would not be the same without him. The Howard Stern show Howard, Robin, Fred, Artie helped me through the death of two dear family members. I do not know how I would have gotten out of bed everyday without them. I LOVE Artie!!!! Love Howard too, but he definitely knows how to push Artie's button. He knows Artie has an explosive temper, yet he does this kind of stuff over and over again. This is the third time in less than a year that Artie got physical on the air. He got physical with Sal, Mike, and now Teddy. There is NO WAY that he can be allowed back on the show.
Artie flat out said on the air today that "I cannot guarantee that I will not do that again". Howard cannot risk another blow up. Legally he could be liable if Artie ever attacked anyone else. Howard won't take that chance. Bye Artie, it was fun while it lasted.

Arties behavior recently has been well below par: He turns up hungover, always rings in sick, especially on Mondays and fall's asleep in the studio. Now he attacks Teddy. Whether it was instigated by Howard or not, he can't go around attacking people and Howard was right to accept his resignation: It saves him having to sack him as he is just not doing his job. Now that Artie has got time on his hands he can perhaps concentrate on getting into rehab and sorting himself out as he really is in a sorry state and in my opinion will be dead within a year if he doesn't sort himself out. Him consuming almost 7000 calories before lunchtime will kill him. That and the heroin.
I love Artie, but lately he seems really angry….I hope he takes some time to chill out over their vacation and maybe hook up with Dr. Keith for a session. The bottom line is, other than using, Artie doesn't know how to deal with stress or problems.
On the Stern show everyone is fair game. Why then was this show not repeated all day as all other shows are ? The paying listeners deserve to hear the show.

I have been listening to Howard since the NBC days, and the show is funnier now than ever before. But the crew needs to realize that Artie is truly a drug addict, and needs help. Howard may be "loyal" but that loyalty comes with a high price. A very high price. Howard will ridicule and torment those he claims to love so dearly because he is an absolutely twisted individual with warped thinking. Howard is a psychopath who finds the one weakness in an individual and then incessantly picks at it and picks at it and picks and picks until the weakness is a gaping ulcer. Howard is as relentless as any vermin, as tenacious as any parasite. He will find a way beneath your skin and then he will exploit your weaknesses until you explode. Artie has some very serious problems. Anyone with any kind of mental deficiency would do well to steer clear of Howard because he has driven many others to the brink of insanity. The only way to survive Howard is to not need anything from him. Consider Fred and Robin. They are the only ones who Howard hasn't succeeded in turning into sniveling sycophants. How? They don't need Howard's approval because they are his equals. Anyone who listens to the show knows what I say is 100% accurate. I listened to the show yesterday. It was really shocking and sad. How can I be so worried about someone I've never actually met. If Artie doesn't come back I'll really miss him on the show. I hope he takes some time off and gets some help. It's been like listening to him slowly kill himself. Why can he love himself like his fans love him?
