Thankfully, Taryn Manning is an exception!
We've always had a soft spot for her band, Boomkat, and now they're finally back with NEW material.
Runaway is their first single and it's a bit creepy watching the video because Taryn looks so much like Lindsay Lohan in it, but the song actually would be perfect for L.L.'s upcoming album.
It's smart, sophisticated pop with a bit of a "chill-out" vibe. And, it sounds a bit autobiographical too.

I love Boomkat and while this song has been around for a few months on her myspace profile I am glad to finally see the video. This is a great sunday afternoon, hanging out with friends by the pool song. Taryn and Kelin are fantastic as Boomkat. I am looking forward to the new albulm.

I understand that you have to live with the name your parents gave you, but Taryn is the very trashy way of spelling the pretty name, Taren. I'm sorry but if you name your daughter Taren with a "y" then you are just setting her up to be a total tramp or stripper! Think about the "Taryns" you've met… pretty true huh?

FRED ASTAIRE come to mind? frank sinatra, dean martin, etc? people can be good at many things, you know. if you have the talent, go for it. let the audience be the judge. but don't just say they suck BECAUSE they are an actor. open your minds.

Please note… I think Taryn is acting as Lindsay Lohan. The blonde chick in the video looks like Paris– the shaved head guy looks like Callum Best– long haired guy Starvos…. the 'Lohan-esque' Taryn is trying to get them to pay attention to her and notice her– showing Lohan's vulnerability and yearning to be liked. Am I the only one who sees that?

Eh. It wasn't bad, especially for an actor turned musician type effort.
But she looks like she's trying to be LaLohan almost, it's weird.
And overall, I think she looks kinda awful. And for an emotional song, she barely moves her face at all in the beginning, for some time really … reminded me of the lifeless Britney during her "comback" appearance.
Shitty video overall. Girl can't act worth a damn, but she'll really have to do better if she's going to really make it musically.
