Missing British TV personality Mark Speight was found dead on Sunday.
He had been missing since Monday.
His body was discovered at Paddington train station.
An official cause of death has yet to be determined.
Sad.
Update:
Speight was found hung, the victim of an apparent suicide.

I grew up watching him too!! on Smart on BBC he was such a talentd artist!! why could people just help him!
I was really hoping that Mark was going to be found before he took this final step. This is such another waste! RESPECT dude. You were pretty cool on Smart and Scratchy & Co (does anyone remember that one?). He will be missed on UK TV.

seems like the world is becoming a harder place…here in Sweden they discovered the body of a 10 year old girl Engla today. She disappeared on her way home a week ago. Fortunately they got the creep who did this but as a mother I can't fathom the pain her parents must be feeling…R.I.P

I knew when they said he was missing that he was dead. I think it was suicide. He prolly felt really awful since his gf od'ed with him around and they had been partying together. He prolly felt guilty or either just really upset. The whole story is really sad. At least they're together now.
Re: Pootie – I read on the daily mail that her blood toxicity from cocaine was insane. she had done like 15 grams and then she took sleeping pills and then he found her in the bath.
It's terrible news, i had a feeling it was going to end like this though. i never watched Smart, but I remember him from Scratchy & Co.

For those of you who dont know who he is, he was a childrens t.v presenter on a program called SMART (amongst others) which was an kids art programme.
What a waste, I grew up watching him on it and wished I could have drawn like him. Such a shame. R.I.P

I met him once, he was such a nice guy. And he was ace on Scratchy & Co. Feels like a peice of my childhood has died today

I have no idea who he was, but it is kind of offensive to draw/write on him 'find him' and x it out. If you save your 'art work', and couldn't get the find me off, why did you not get another pic? Putting a X across looks like you are fireing someone or he got dumped by someone, not died. rip

OMG! I always used to watch mark on cbbc while he was on the tv show smart! He was such a good presenter & a great artist! I loved his drawings better than his co-star kirsten! It's such a tragedy he is gone! Mark will be terribly missed by UK TV & his fans! He was really good with children & was a very funny guy, he had a great personality & was full of life! It's good to see that so many people are paying respect & their tributes to Mark! When I read this section I was very shocked & the 1st thing I shouted out was "Nooo!" I can't believe his gone. I really loved Mark. He was a very talented artist!!!!

If some people are unsure about why Mark did this, let me explain…
Depression causes a complete change in one's outlook on life, most people maintain a neutral/positive perspective on daily life but depression makes everything in life seem pointless and repetitive, this causes a frustration and leaves the person in an emotional and vulnerable state. Mark would have been a wreck inside following his girlfriend's death and he would have had this need to get away from the life he was living, to isolate himself and think through whether there was any point in living, he obviously decided he didn't want to continue.
There are good days and bad days for depression, Mark may have chosen not to commit suicide had it been another day however it probably wouldn't have stopped him from taking his life when he got really upset again.
He really should have had a lot of support and counselling to try and release some of the guilt he had and generally remind him of how he used to feel about life.
Mark's death was entirely avoidable, the government should do a lot more to stop deaths like this from happening.
Depression is a very serious condition and there are many ways to treat it that just aren't available, pills are not an effective solution and unless you've suffered from depression, you have no idea how to treat it. You could probably cut suicide rates in half with the right schemes, such a shame health officials don't understand this.

I used to love this guy! He was a great presenter and a great artist! His shows will never be forgotten! He was great with children and had a great personality! He will be missed terribly by the BBC, UK TV and his fans! Right now my condolences remain with his family and friends who will probably be going through hell right now! When I read this article, I was so shocked and the first thing I shouted out was "Noooo!" Mark will never be forgotten!

His girlfriend had a heart condition, which probably explains why she had such a bad reaction to the drugs, and passed out in the bath, causing the scalding burns.
Poor poor guy. I loved watching smART as a kid and its partly what inspired me to become an artist. Mark Speight was a brilliant TV presenter and his talent and enthusiasm for art will surely be missed. Rest in Peace xxx
It's so sad. I loved smART when he was on it, he inspired me to draw and I can't believe he's gone so young and in such terrible circumstances in terms of his girlfriend dying a few months before. He'll be missed, including by me.

Think about it: we've never heard, really, the answer as to HOW or WHY his girlfriend's soon-to-be corpse got into the literally scaldingly hot water of the bathtub. My own misadventures with the substances named didn't make me crazy enough to draw a tub so hot that it would burn me — and then I got in anyways. Methinks me sees an olde English coverup in regards this one. ("No, we can't possibly accuse a children's show presenter of…") Yeah, he'd feel some guilt if things were as stated, i.e., he'd passed out; but he'd feel much more guilt, I would think, if…………… Ah well. Sad no matter.
i remeber when he would present tcc, he was fun to watch i will miss him.

i'm sure he was a good/nice person but regardless, he was a drug addict. his fiance was a drug addict and she died as a result. not that big of a surprise. if he loved her so much he should have gotten her off drugs especially since i've read that she's had a lot of medical issues. killing yourself isn't going to change anything. who knows where he'll end up or her.
That's retarded!! Why didn't someone help him in time? The poor guy showed clear signs of someone who needed support and help in this difficult time of his life. Why didn't someone just HELP?

Really sad, my son used to watch the art programmes he did. Made me feel really cold when I read the link about how he was hung for six days before being discovered, I really had hoped he'd just gotten away for a break but I guess his loss was just too much to live with.

two tragic losses… they both lead two very different lives. On Smart they appeared to be squeaky clean… yet behind closed doors, they were having secret drug binges. This really has shocked me!
This incident, however, doesn't change my memories of them… to me they will always be amazing artists, who were creative and could see the beauty in everything. They literally had a million uses for the yogurt pot!!! They both seemed like extremely nice people, who both made wrong choices.
My thoughts are both Natasha and Mark's families at this difficult time. Rest in peace x x x
