Oh, shiz. You don't wanna fuck with Jigga man!
Noel Gallagher told BBC News that Jay-Z is just plain wrong for the famous British festival Glastonbury.
"If it ain't broke don't fix it," said the Oasis twat. "If you start to break it then people aren't going to go. I'm sorry, but Jay-Z? No chance. Glastonbury has a tradition of guitar music and even when they throw the odd curve ball in on a Sunday night you go 'Kylie Minogue?' I don't know about it. But I'm not having hip-hop at Glastonbury. It's wrong."
Noel is certain that Jay's inclusion on the bill explains the festival's mediocre ticket sales this year. There were 100,000 tickets sold for Glastonbury on the first day, but in past years all tickets had sold out in a matter of hours.
Is Jay to blame?
Did Gallagher consider that maybe the other bookings weren't strong or that music fans are experiencing festival fatigue?
There seems to be a festival scheduled every other weekend somewhere in the U.K. during the summer season!

I'm not a rock fan. I think all rock sounds like bad noise, and I will listen (and buy) rap music over rock anyday, but I agree with Noel. Rap doesn't belong at a rock festival (and vice versa.) If the rock musicians can't sell tickets on their own, then it's time to move to a smaller venue or stop the festival. Don't mix audiences and turn it into something else.

I didn't get glastonbury tickets this year, other things to do. It's a slow death, something is wrong with it but it;s stil such a great wonderful thing. I do think they've taken for granted that people will go through the roof at the very mention it. a cold winter, a wet spring and the prospect of mud and a poorly hyped weekend with boring artists that don't get you smiling like a fool with excitement hasn't captivated the nation. A few years ago glastonbury didn't sell in just a few hours but then people got in free and the sun actually came out i June, last year it wet crazy, it had so much coverage about ticket sales. This year reading and Leeds is really getting people going, that's the one 16 year olds get excited over, I can understand that; 'school's out, fuckin hell, lets take some pills in the sun!'

Many British acts don't have much success in the States because the general public suck at listening to music. The whole one-hit wonder argument does not apply considering the same could be said about many American acts not being able to sell in foreign markets. Since Jay-Z's supposed "retirement" in 2003, he's released two albums. One of them is a fucking supplementary soundtrack to a movie. Oasis made one album since then and it's been hailed as one of the best rock albums in the past decade.
Modern hip-hop has become nothing but a masturbatory advertisement about how "gangsta" some cunt is and how big his fucking ridiculous rims are.

I've heard rap in french, spanish, german, japanese, etc. This is something that started in the Bronx many years ago. Look at the impact it has on people. I don't think the problem is with hip-hop at glastonbury per se… it's having Jay-Z, who really isn't very well known in the UK, headlining the main stage! I was at glasto last year and the best act of the whole weekend for me was a hip-hop artist - K'Naan, but he was on the jazz world stage on the Sat afternoon, not headlining the pyramid stage! The only hip-hop artists big enough in the UK to pull that off would be kanye and maybe dizzee rascal. The other headliners this year - kings of leon and the verve - are pretty shite as well, especially as the sunday night is usually a proper 'legend' like the who last year. They'd all be ok in the afternoon, but not headlining. There's rumours that Jay-Z's going to pull out anyway…if he does Eavis should do everything he can to get Morrissey to replace him. Old-timers like him always go down well at glasto!

2.) A rapper (any rapper) is just doesn't work at an Indie-rock concert. Mixing rap and hip-hop at a festival in Europe/U.K. just doesn't work as well as it does in the U.S.
