Noel Gallagher told BBC News that Jay-Z is just plain wrong for the famous British festival Glastonbury.
"If it ain't broke don't fix it," said the Oasis twat. "If you start to break it then people aren't going to go. I'm sorry, but Jay-Z? No chance. Glastonbury has a tradition of guitar music and even when they throw the odd curve ball in on a Sunday night you go 'Kylie Minogue?' I don't know about it. But I'm not having hip-hop at Glastonbury. It's wrong."
Noel is certain that Jay's inclusion on the bill explains the festival's mediocre ticket sales this year. There were 100,000 tickets sold for Glastonbury on the first day, but in past years all tickets had sold out in a matter of hours.
Is Jay to blame?
Did Gallagher consider that maybe the other bookings weren't strong or that music fans are experiencing festival fatigue?
There seems to be a festival scheduled every other weekend somewhere in the U.K. during the summer season!

Re: QUEEN BEE – Wow. Agression issues? People are just saying that booking a commercial rap artist at an indie rock festival is absurd. Wouldn't you find it weird if someone booked the Red Hot Chilly Peppers to play at Notting Hill Carnival?? I know I certainly wouldn't feel like going to Carnival that year, that's for sure. Festivals need to stick to their profile otherwise people will just go to another one. There's plenty of them in the UK, it's not like you don't have options.
errr sorry guys but noel is right, i was going o go to glastonbury this year as i hhave done for the last 3 but when i found out jay-z was performing i decided not too. thats not the point of glastonbury or any other music festival in england for that matter, people who go to these things enjoy, acousitc, guitars, folk etc. NOT RAP! and its not just me either, the majority of the crowd i usually go with arent going either its just NOT RIGHT! its all about getting muddy and not caring about the fact that u may not shower for 5 days straight….can anyone seriously imagine jay-z wearing welly's and not showering…..i think not!
People stating how rich/popular Jay-Z is are entirely missing the point. He is completely the wrong type of artist for this particular type of festival, and is primarily responsible for the complete lack of buzz about this year's glasto. Last year and in previous years everyone I knew was clamoring for tickets, this year, nobody I know had any intention of attending. It is all down to Jay-Z. Wrong man for the job.

don't you think that the fact that reading tickets sold out in 1 hour says that its nothing about 'Festival fatigue'! If Glastonbury had wanted a hiphop act they should have hired one that is popular in England….but as a headliner?!..it put me off buying a ticket!

Noel is right! People don't go to festivals to see hip hop stars rap! Hip hop isn't even that big in England..we want to see proper bands play live music!!
