The Black Eyed Peas' Fergie is indeed a Latina.
“Yes, I have Mexican in my ancestry,” Fergie tells Latina magazine. “My Dad's grandmother was born in Guanajuato. I’m very proud of it; that’s probably where I get my fire!"
The mag asks her why her Latina background has been so ambiguous. Fergie answers, "I don’t go around claiming it big time because there are many more full-bred Latinas that are out there to represent.”
Jessica "Don't Call Me Latina" Alba, you reading? Be a little more like Fergie — proud of where your family comes from!

I wish those of you who are saying such ignorant things about Mexicans, Latin/latinos/latinas would get educated before you write. First of all, Mexican is an ethnicity and nationality, not a race.
1. Race is like white, black, asian & native american.
2. a Mexican can be white, black, native only but most are a mix of those three races.
3. Latin means you come from people who speak a language that is derived from Latin ex: Italian, Spanish, French, Portuguese & Romanian
4. Latino or Latina means you are from LATIN AMERICA.
5. MOST IMPORTANTLY, if YOU ARE MEXICAN, YOU ARE ALSO AMERICAN. IF YOU DONT BELIEVE ME, LOOK AT A MAP OF NORTH AMERICA AND SEE FOR YOURSELF.
I am mexican. my skin is light, no one in my family has dark skin. my grandfather has blue eyes, his dad had blue eyes. You can be a latino/a of any sort and be of any skin color or eye color.
My Moms grandmother is mulatta, making me only 6% African but Im still very proud of that cuz it makes me who i am. My mom has white skin, so does her mom, that doesnt mean they dont have African ancestry. seriously people, you need education. I feel so much pity for you.
oh, and you need to leave Perez alone. Jessica Alba is stupid for not being proud of her heritage. One should be pround of ALL OUR ROOTS AND HERITAGE not just one group or another. So what if Fergie is proud of being 1/8 mexican thats 12%, double of how much African I am, and I am so proud of that. Your dna is 100%, you wouldnt exist with only 88 or 92%. And the main problem with Alba is that it shouldnt bother her if people think she is Mexican, its her that makes it a big deal by saying she doesnt identify with it. I dont see why she sees it as something negative.. thats the problem we have with her.
