American Idol contestant David Cook will have a very special guest in the audience Tuesday and Wednesday night — his brother Adam Cook who is battling brain cancer.
Adam will be traveling all the way from Indiana to see his bro perform.
Do you think this will inspire David to get more votes give the performance of a lifetime?
Idol's mouthpieces declined to comment, but sources close to the show confirm that Adam will indeed be there with a doctor and nurse on standby.
We can't wait to see which Mariah Carey song David will perform for his bro tonight!

In case there haven't been enough people on this blog telling you how messed up this post is, let me add to it. David Cook is one of the frontrunners in the competition. He doesn't need sympathy votes. By the way, his brother is frigging dying, you incredible asshole. This is a big big big deal for him and the family. The timing of all of this is just terrible, but it's not like he planned to have this happen.

I feel such deep compassion for he and his family for what they are going through right now and I'm kind of disgusted by Perez for the first time in a long while, his claim that David Cook's brother will be in the audience for sympathy votes is really low. I read your column every day (or used to, anyway, before this post) and have never written a comment before, but after reading this disgustingly ignorant post, I had no choice but to say a few things. Let's get a few facts straight:
1) David has NEVER mentioned his brother's illness. If anything, he purposely made sure never to bring it up as it's a private matter and has nothing to do with the public. When he went to the hospital because of his high blood pressure, he played it down so that he wouldn't get any sympathy votes (as if he needs them anyway!)
2) He is an absolutely INCREDIBLE singer and a genuinely nice guy too. His brother is dying of cancer, you sick fuck, and you have the nerve to twist things around and make it seem like he's happy about it?
3) David Cook has a huge fan base! He's only been on T.V. for a couple of months but people seem to love him a hell of a lot more than you.
I pity you for being such a jealous piece of shit. Have you kicked any puppies today? Stolen money from old ladies? You need to get a life and I hope everyone who reads this post stops supporting you and your shitty excuse for a job.
