Brigitte Bardot: Nutjob Going To Jail???

French law officials want to throw the book at 73-year old screen legend Brigitte Bardot for inciting racial hatred toward the Muslim community.
Brigitte (a vocal animal activist) stated in a letter that she wrote to then interior minister Nicolas Sarkozy (now President of the country) protesting the method of slaying sheep during the Muslim festival of Aid El-Kebir.
"We're fed up with being led around by this whole population which is destroying us, destroying our country by imposing its acts," she said.
A bit harsh, baby?????
Bardot was upset because the sheep weren't being stunned before they are bled to death, which is the 'traditional' method.
The letter was published in a magazine and distributed to supporters of the Brigitte Bardot Foundation.
Several anti-racism groups in France filed complaints about the letter, accusing Bardot of provoking discrimination and racial hatred toward Muslims.
Bardot has been convicted of similar offenses on four previous occasions since 1997 and fined $2,250-$7,500.
The court will deliver its verdict June 3.
You'd think that after all those years of being alive the old gal would have gained some wisdom and learned some diplomacy!

In Australia, we have what is called the "live sheep export trade" where sheep are exported by ship to Muslim countries so that they can be slaughtered in their traditional ways. The conditions suffered by these animals on the voyage are unspeakably cruel with many dying at sea. There has been much protest but the practice still goes on because it makes money. When it comes to failed integration in France, Muslims are not the ones to blame, France is.
Take for example the city of Geneva, Switzerland, that is just next to the French border. On the French side, young muslim immigrants steal, beat people up, burn cars, etc. On the Swiss side, young muslim immigrants study at the University, get nice jobs, make positive contribution to society and are perfectly integrated while still being able to maintain their traditions and believes if they wish to.
The difference? France treats its immigrants and working class like shit. People are packed into horrific housing projects where the police harrasses them 6 times of day to ask for their ID. They only get shitty jobs, if any job at all. Anything that differs from the norm is considered to be a threat to the French way of life these days. Sooner or later this was doomed to back-fire at them.
Geneva on the other hand, is a progressive and open city where everyone gets a chance to contribute to society and where everyone respects each other's religion and culture.
It's actually easy to spot young arabs from across the French border from local young arabs who live in Geneva: they're the ones with frustration and anger in their eyes. Not saying that French people are bad people, just saying that their elitist and segregated society is really fucked up.
