Re: Lovely – Honestly, this tragedy has effected our community and the many across the nation. Its absurd how insenstive you are. The shooter wasn't bullied. He had mental problems which do not excuse his actions. So again, this "stupid bitch" says - Educate yourself. Its blatant ignorance like that which you display that makes this world such a sad place.

I turn to silly gossip sites for smiles and comfort, today is a hard day, and your memoriam was comforting. For those of you who respond with "people are killed everyday", you're right, they are. Let's honor those killed by celebrating the spirit of life. Virginia Tech is a fantastic school, and for those children, sisters, brothers, fathers, mothers, husband’s, & wives killed on April 16, 2007 in this horrific tragedy.. we honor you. We have prevailed together. Forever in our hearts VT.

Re: u know – whoa there….the reason that it was highly reported was the fact that is was a totally random, inexcusable act of violence in a fairly low-crime area. And don't let your own ingorance and insensitivity cloud your brain…I'm not hating….just trying shine the who-the-hell-do-you-think-u-are-to-be-lackadaisical-about-innocent-lives-lost? light on those of you who are quick to say "oh, whatever, people die/get shot everyday"….I can tell you have some balls…..now grow a heart

Why are there always morons who come out with insensitive out of order comments?
Of course there are thousands dying all over the world evry day but people shouldn't be desensitised to these tragedies.
And it was a terrible tragedy. Although not a shock. Until America brings in gun contol this will happen time and time again.
And as for VT students saying they should hae guns. Can you imagine of there were, say half a dozen students trying to bring down a shooter? Even more people wold be hurt or killed.

    112

Pretty much half of my high school goes to Tech when they graduate, as with most virginia schools, so it was so weird to hear about the shootings last year. We all thought it was a joke at first but then we turned on the computers and started getting phone calls and text messages from friends and family. I mean, I hate to say it but it was totally one of those situations where you think to yourself, "This doesn't happen to us. Not here. Not where we live." But it did and I can't tell you how proud we are to see that Tech has come through it all and all the love and support from everyone. Look here! Perez is on the other side of the country!!

Also, please please please!! If you see someone who is crying out for help, HELP THEM!!! Cho Seung-Hui was a troubled guy and had those in charge listened to what was being said, this could have been prevented. We all saw this before with Columbine and yet it happened again. Bullying people and making their lives that much harder when they are clearly having a hard time as it is can lead to these kinds of tragedies.

    Mario,

While I love a good makeover, your transformation from a bratty basher of anyone female, overweight, mentally unfit or alcoholic, etc., etc., into a capitalist, consciousness-raising, politically correct Latino Hedda Hopper reeks of tremendous insincerity. I ain't buyin' it. You honestly couldn't care less about what happened at Virginia Tech. "Let's remember those we have lost"? Please. The only thing lost here is you, by selling out.

To those who criticize - please don't make this into a racial issue. This was not made into what it was because "A lot of white people were shot" If you take a look at the victims they were from all backgrounds and walks of life.

I find it interesting that so many people can leave a comment about "why anyone cares about the 32 students taken by the hands of one man" on Perez Hilton, a site that caters to primarily the superficial ongoings of people you will most likely never meet and may never relate to. These were students, friends, teachers, mothers, and fathers who lost there lives today. Everyone should be able to relate to that. And above all else everyone should be able to respect that. Respect those who lost there lives, respect the friends and family members, the community that will never be the same because of this day. If the violence in our country has taught us anything it should human decency and respect. So please show some.

today is not just about remembering those we have lost to a sudden and unexplainable method, but to truly appreciate how great and how lucky we are. virginia tech is going to be strong today, and as always..we will prevail. true, horrible things happen each and every day - but for every ignorant comment someone makes, it only makes me more proud to be a HOKIE. "when white people get shot its a big deal" too bad every type of person was effected by this tragedy - obviously skin color did not play a factor in their deaths. the sun was shining beautifully in blacksburg today, and we are lighting up the drillfield tonight. today we are all hokies

I worked for a non-profit in Virginia Beach. We were supposed to have a board meeting at the inn at virginia tech. That Tuesday, I went to the dentist, and on my way, I heard of "a shooting" with not much other news, before 11 am. I immediately got on the phone and called my boss, thinking of nothing more than our board meeting, and how this was probably "just another" school shooting. I told her to keep an eye on it. By the time I got out of the dentist, there were 29 reports of death. What a jerk I felt like, and so now, I listen, and pay attention and don't let the news belittle the things happening in the world. RIP Hokies.

    Re: Carey

I live in VA and half of our high school went to VT, too. Just as I was about to leave for class that day at noon, my friend called to say someone had been shot at VT. Then another friend txted me around 2:30 to say that there were 20 people dead at VT. I was like, "What is going on?! This kind of stuff doesn't happen in middle-of-nowhere Virginia!" and then when I was flipping through the channels, I came across a coverage of it on MTV. It said there were 32 confirmed dead at VT.

To people who keep posting on here saying they don't care about this tragedy: you have the right not to care. You have the right to say so. But if you really care more about Lindsay Lohan's drama than 32 people who were murdered by a psychopathic madman, you are truly heartless. I don't hate you nor am I angry at you; I just feel sorry for you because you are so pathetic and ignorant.

My heart and best thoughts go out to all VT students, families thereof, and the faculty.

I hate how after every tragedy people feel the need to pretend for one day that we are all united and shit. It was sad that innocent people lost their lives. But now all of you are trying to be all sanctimonious and act like you actually gave a fucking shit about it. 364 other days of the year you most likely only think of yourself and your petty problems, and treat those around you like shit. It was nice of Perez to post, but stop acting like you actually cared about those kids. If you did happen to know them, my apologies. And stop calling everyone "heroes." The teacher was a hero. Getting shot doesn't automatically make you a hero. It's sad they had to go, but dying doesn't make you a saint. More than feeling sad and sorry, we need to focus on why this happened. It's easy to call someone a "crazy gook," but the fact is that there is far too much bullying and racism in the States. School kids are so fucking full of themselves and so hateful to different people, so I'm surprised more incidences haven't happened. We need to make sure everyone is treated right, not just the God-loving Christian good old Americans.

You honestly have no idea the amount of fear that struck this entire campus on that day and your comment was completely unecessary. With a comment like that, you're no better than the shooter of the VT massacre. Why don't you do yourself and everyone on this earth a favor and shoot yourself. The color of his skin had nothing to do with the fucked up shit going on in his head. He had issues, and there's no legit or justifiable reason why he killed 32 innocent people. But, what's done is done. Lets learn from the idiot, move on, and keep the victim's memories alive.

Re: GetRealPeople – You obviously do not go to Virginia Tech or know anything about our community. We have been united everyday since April 16th, 2007. There is not a day that goes by that we don't think of our 32. Many, many groups and organizations have been started since then and still continue… Like VT Engage which has performed more than 500,000 community service hours in memory of those we lost. So what have you done? And for those leaving horrible, hurtful comments.. What exactly is your purpose? If you have a cause stand up for it and do something. Don't try to insult us and our school because people cared about what happened here. We made people care.

  70. VTHOKiE says – reply to this

    170

First, I want to thank you for acknowledging such a tragic event, it means a lot to not only me, a Virginia Tech student that was there that day, but also to the VT community. but I am really shocked at some of the comments about it not being a big deal because people get shot everyday. and especially this comment, "when white people get shot and die it becomes news….i just don't get it. people get shot eveyday, give me a break!" —not only is that beyond disrespectful to the people who died that day for no reason, but also to everyone here at Virginia Tech. maybe you should think about the fact that 32 innocent lives were taken that day for no reason, on a college campus. no one could have imagined someone coming into there classroom and opening fire. not to mention of those 32 victims, a number of them were of different races. So before you make some snide comment about white people getting shot, get your facts straight. for everyone else who has respected this incident and for supporting our community, THANK YOU! neVer forgeT

Thanks for remembering us Perez! As a junior at the Virginia Tech, I just want to say that no school can compare to Virginia Tech.

For all the people that think we should recognize our students lost as 33, we should only recognize the 32 names of the victims. Why would we want to recognize and remember someone who caused so much damage to all of us? We do not want him remembered, we want to remember the lives and families and memories of all the people lost. Thank you for not including him in your number Perez.

Some of you need to stop being so insensitive. If you don't care about the VT tradgedy, don't waste your time commenting on it. Some of us care a lot and lost loved ones so let us remember in peace.
