  9. dogandponybot says – reply to this

    209

yes — even the scenes look like they were shot in Asuncion or in Encarnacion. It is a PARODY. Someone should do a parody of a song that has a word that starts to resemble a word used in relation to illegal immigrants in the U.S. It would be be in the same spirit…

His version is no worse than the original. It is a stupid song.

  12. daniela says – reply to this

    212

Perez, did you listen to the words? It's a story about an illegal Paraguayan living in Buenos Aires, after following his girl there for love. The guy is wearing a PY jersey and talking about how Paraguayans living in Argentina don't even have the right to go to school, are treated like shit, and get called names like "paragua". You wouldn't call a Mexican a "spik" or and Chinese person a "chink"? This guy is taking back the word and claiming it for himself. Much like rappers use the "N" word. This dude stays in B.A. in a crappy cultural situation for love. It's silly and the editing is shitty, but he's basically talking about how Paraguayans have had to give up their culture and their language to get work abroad and they get no respect for it. Argentineans treat them like third class citizens. It's something Americans do to immigrants everyday. You at least have to respect the man for the message if not the medium. Perez… ipora nde blog, che alee cada ko'e. Pero che kuate, investiga el sentimento antes de decir que es iva'i.

Hey me too! I thought the beat was great!! Needs some good lyrics tho.

  14. doomwalker says – reply to this

    214

Paragua is a derrogatory term Argentines use to call people from Paraguay. I guess he moved to Argentina to be with his boyfriend and he is fed up of people calling him "Paragua". He says "I'm not an umbrella" "Yo no soy un paragua" ahahahahhahah!

  15. natalia says – reply to this

    215

    of course it's a joke
he's talking about someone from Paraguay, in Argentina sometimes we call people from Paraguay "paragua"
you say you're spanish but you seriously have no idea, perez!

  16. Carla says – reply to this

    216

Im from argentina so im going to explain this, the word umbrella in spanish means "paragua", and close to argentina there is a country called Paraguay, so this guy is sayin that in argentina all the people called him "paragua", because that is a funny way to refer to people from Paraguay, and he is from paraguay. thats what i can explain.
Why he did this terrible song is beyond my knowledge…
regards from argentina, and sorry for the bad writing!!

    227

Hey everyone. I'm argentinian, and what you have to understand is that we make fun of everything. This is not for real of course, it's just a way to get attention and publicity. The shirt is from a soccer team (of course) and the music is the regular music you can find in Argentina, like the 'new' folklore. Saludos a Perez desde España.

Re: Shana – Its not a song against Paraguayans, in fact the dude is Gay, and he sings in the song that he gave up his life in Paraguay for his love, who lives in Argentina. He misses paraguay but stays in Argentina because he is in love ! Funny song :) Get it ?

  29. Canadian - Argentinian says – reply to this

    229

Re: daniela – I think you are wrong, took the video to seriously girl ! He is GAY and gave up his life in Paraguay to be in Argentina with his lover ! It's a cute song. The PARAGUA term is not always used as a derogative. THIS SONG IS NOT ABOUT DISCRIMINATION, PEOPLE !

    232

Songs that are originally English should stay English!!!!

  33. laura says – reply to this

    233

Hahaha! Man, this is brutal… I`ll explain… This guy is Paraguayan (the t-shirt is the official soccer shirt), and he is obviously an immigrant in Argentina. The story is simple there: he met a girl in Paraguay, fell in love and crossed the border to argentina for her. Due to the massive immigration of paraguayans in argentina, they`re discriminated rather profoundly in ar, and are given names such as "paragua", spanish for umbrella. The type of music is "villera" which is huge down there. hahaha… So there, thats the story.

  34. sarah says – reply to this

And OBVIOUSLY, he isn't being serious!!!!!!!!!1 Of course he's not. But you, Perez, ignorant, don't know Spanish, so you're missing the joke. Jaaaaa!

  39. Sol says – reply to this

    239

my darling Perez, this guy is not from Argentina but from Paraguay, paragua besides meaning umbrella is a nickname commonly used fro people from Paraguay. And if you listen carefully to the lyrics you would see that it's meant to be funny rather than serious.

    248

the song is awesome! Paragua is a dispectful way of calling people from Paraguay. This Coco guy is from Misiones (as he says in the song), a bordering Argentinian province with Paraguay.
I'm from Argentina (GO ARG) but i don't know this guy, this rhythm is very common in those provinces and it is called "cumbia" and it's very popular!!! The point is thar this kind of musicians don't have much money, so they can't do a great video like Madonna.

  49. Clarisa says – reply to this

    249

sorry he is from paraguay and moverd to misiones!!!!!!!!!

Perezzz!! of course it´s a joke! I´m from Argentina and I must tell you that you have to live here to understand what Coco wanted to say with his video…I know u speak spanish, but just in case, he´s refering to people from Paraguay, who we call "Paragua" which means Umbrella in english…And the images are from places in Buenos Aires where lots of immigrant live. Awful place obviously…but anyway…

Lmaoo that was funny. It's pretty obvious that he is joking. Also I'm tired of the original song. I hate how Rihanna always gave thanks to jay-z for producing the song but never mentioned The Dream who actually wrote the song. THat dumb untalented alien

  65. mili says – reply to this

    265

    in the song he say:
No me gusta que me digan "el paragua"
    Yo no soy ningun paraguas

In Argentina "paragua" means umbrella and people from Paraguay. So the guy (who is from Paraguay) say:
I don't like you to call me "el paragua"
    I'm not any "paraguas"

The song is about the a man from paraguay who goes to argentina and start a new life in the capital, Buenos Aires… I dont like it very much but is fun

Educate.

  68. Silvina says – reply to this

    268

Bueno..Soy Argentina.

it has NOTHING to do with an umbrella, but in Argentina, u call "paragua" (wich sounds a lot like "paraguas" meaning "umbrella" in spanish) to the people from Paraguay, wich is a country amongst Peru, Brazil n Argentina.
it's like american people calling "chicanos" to mexicans, or japos or japs to japanese people

    290

It's a joke. It's really sad how Perez Hilton calls himself a Hispanic when he can't even understand the content of the song. I don't want to be rude, but I really hate the fact when Americans (not only them but every race in general) degrade another race because they are so ignorant. So before you say stupid things on a site, please think about what you are saying because you can really end up insulting others. :)

Sorry for that, need to get it out!

  91. Danny says – reply to this

    291

Oh please, I'm from Argentina. This is not a serious thing people… the worst places of my city are those, mostly visited by paraguayans, bolivian, etc. He's talking about a paraguayan who moved to argentina…That's why is so hideous if you don't know the context and what is based.

  92. prsxylatina-ct says – reply to this

    294

I am from Argentina and I am not a big fan of this kind of music, but the lyrics are quite smart.
Paragua (Umbrella) is a derogatory term to refere to the Paraguayans.
The Lyrics are about this guy from Paraguay who went to Argentina with no papers to work but he misses the food and traditional drinks (TERERE, Is a cold drink based on yerba mate) and also hates when some Argentinean call him the paragua.
He is not a great singer and the beat is kinda cheap but I like the idea and the song. not to put it as a ring tone but to have a laugh.

  95. LondonLass says – reply to this

    295

    I LOVE IT!!!

  96. leti says – reply to this

    296

Actually no, he is not being serious. Its a word joke lost in translation. He is making fun of Paraguayans due to their rivality. "Paragua" means umbrella in english but thats how they call "paragua-yans". And the lyrics talk about paraguayans costumes and their way of being.

  97. Indalecio says – reply to this

    297

This is a joke. In Argentina they call "paragua" the people who are from Paraguay (another country). This is Argentinean Humor and you won't get it unless you're Argentinean. And it is quite funny. And is also funny because the word "Umbrella" in spanish is "Paraguas" so it's like a big joke to this guy who is from Paraguay (PARAGUA)… and I know you don't know anything about football (what you call soccer) because you are gay and americans… but the guy in the video is wearing the Paraguayan National Football Team shirt…

    300

Dude, it is totally a joke. You can tell by the lyrics. Perez, yo DO know what he's referring to by paragua, right? People from Paraguay are totally discriminated. Mostly jokingly. But Paragua started being an offensive name for them, now it is just overused. But he talks about how he doesnt want people to say 'hey, here comes the Paragua" because now he's legal and shit. I highly doubt it is serious.
