I wish all of u haters realized how many of you and your friends are GAY!! I go onto cruise sites every now and then and DAMMIT if 75% of the guys on there aren't "married" I mean please, all the frat jokes etc ion movies are there for a reason - it HAPPENS. Turns out a lot of u faghater/straights are as guilty if not more. And for you fag hating "ladies" It's probably YOUR man that is IMing me to let him suck my dick, so you should have a softer heart too! I hope all your kids are HOMOS and hate you!

Hey I'm from Uruguay, and I always read your column, I'm 15 and I'm obsessed with gossip and celebrities, buy anyway, I think, that on one hand the spelling mistake is funny, the Simpson's, did the joke one time on an episode, and its alright. But on the other hand, I want the name of my country written correctly. But that's just my point of view.
I think that gay marriage should be allowed in every country, because there are straight people getting married, not only once, but twice and even three times, and there still getting divorced, and there hundreds of gay people living together of, like, 10 years and they can't. Just be realistic, and open minded. =)

    Love you Perez.

I don't mind the joke with the country's name, and some people probably care because we know many of the readers will see it here for the first and possibly only time. I just want to say that even though most people there are christian and in particular catholic, the URUGUAY IS NOT A CATHOLIC COUNTRY. There is separation of state and church and no official religion!
Besos perez y a los demas uruguayos :)

  9. Samantha says – reply to this

    116

Uruguay is the least religious country in Latin America. The country does not have an official religion though almost 60% of the poulation is Catholic, which is still low for a Latin country… so str8 gay or whatever u are is considered acceptable. GO FAGS WE CAN DO IT! Love it that we are recognised!

  17. Syd says – reply to this

  21. Tony says – reply to this

    121

It was not a marriage… it's called civil union. It has some of the right of marriage BUT they're not extended to parenting, adopting and some other legal, matters.
Its only differs to the one in other countries because it takes effect in all the Uruguay territory and not just a few cities (like Buenos Aires).
    It's a step… but it's not the end.

  22. Coucou says – reply to this

    122

No sean tan graves.

Y a los mexicanos, unión civil y matrimonio no son lo mismo.

I cannot believe how many uruguayan readers this site has!! ha, it's funny, i thought i was the only one

1st: uruguay is not a catholic or traditional country, all of you who say that never read anything about uruguay.
2nd: Uruguay is the first COUNTRY in latinoamerica in which civil union between gay couples is legal. there are only a few cities in argentina, brazil or mexico who accept civil union

    please, don't be ignorants, read!!!

I find it funny that how progress can be highly subjective.

I love those positive brain washing buzzwords though!

    Progressive, modern, tolerant..

All of them just mean "I like people who think like me"

So yes, you are special. Just like everyone else.

  41. uruguaya says – reply to this

    141

wow first i didn't know there were so many Uruguayans on Perez. i myself am from Uruguay too and im very happy… im not gay but if you wanna get married, go ahead, and all you stupid prejudiced assholes who think gay marriage is "sin" or between a man and a woman need to wake up to the real world.
And yes, its URUGUAY not Urugay… its insulting and we've heard it 50 million times before so please change

  42. uruguaya says – reply to this

    142

Re: Coucou – mira… somos un pais muy chico y muy orgullosos ok?

  43. URUGUAY says – reply to this

    143

I am all for gay marriage, and god knows you are too… but please, there is no need to make fun of my native country and all of those below me. Please show some respect or you will begin to lose yours. Making fun of a celebrity who has made stupid decisions is funny and entertaining, but when you are insulting an entire country, and your ethnicity and sexual preferences, the line is crossed. I have recently just become a fan of your website but you are slowly losing my interest due to many unnecessary offensive comments. In asking you to please apologize I am not only speaking for myself, but an entire country and Uruguayans across the globe; so please do me and your reputation a favor and apologize. Thank you.

    the sad part is….
2 random dudes or 2 random girls who may not even be lovers can just walk in and get f*cking married
now i agree that government shouldnt define sexuality but come on here thats just unbelievable

  45. mmhmm says – reply to this

    145

    the sad part is…
that 2 girls or 2 guys can just walk into a d*mn chapel and get married…god knows if theyre lovers or not
    its weird
and it degrades the dignity of a marriage
now i agree the gov't shouldnt define sexuality but thats just ridiculous

    156

in argentina its been happening for more than a year!

  57. flor says – reply to this

    157

actually it wasn't a wedding, it was a civil union. In uruguay after 5 years of living together you can ask for a legallization of your union, but it's not marriage, as it is in Spain, for example. We still have a long way to go here in Uruguay but there's a huge gay community and the population in general is very open towards these legal innovations

  58. spleen says – reply to this

    158

Maybe they will have some real progress soon when they have the first "man-camel "marriage. You are all sick!!

  59. Sandra says – reply to this

I get it - but please spell it correctly URUGUAY

  60. angie says – reply to this

    160

    Perez,

SORRY BUT BEING GAY IS WRONG I DONT SEE GAY MARRIAGE AS ANY KIND OF PROGRESS TO MAN KIND. IF ANYTHING A SETBACK .. YOUR GAY POPULATION IS INFECTING EACH OTHER WITH HIV BECAUSE YOU CANT KEEP YOUR DICK BEHIND A CONDOM… I THINK ITS JUST SO DISGUSTING.. I DONT AGREE W/ UR FORUM NOT ONE BIT.. SORRY

  63. Vanessa says – reply to this

    163

Why is it that arshitinians are so fucking desperate to be better than everyone else??
You guys are seriously obsessed with being better than Uruguay so much that its pathetic. Find something else to do …you sore losers.
And if you say its been going on since two or four years..( because you cant make up ur mind for that ) ok, fine..ill give that to you…cus it only makes sense since u guys are gayer than Perez Himself.
And Perez… I get your joke and all….but that -U R GAY joke is played out man.

and #106 - Saywhattt needs to take a fucking ASAP geography class… MEXICO is not located in South America and domestic partnership isn't legal marriage …WTF were you trying to prove with you comment?? i think u should get YOUR facts right before telling Perez to.

for all you idiots and argentinians: A religious union is not the same as a legal union… gedit retards??

  64. Sergio says – reply to this

    164

That note is incorrect. Gay weddings in Mexico City have been performed for more than a year now.

  65. Cames says – reply to this

    165

I believe you're a bit off on this one Perez. The 1st gay wedding of Latin America happened in Brazil on April 11th. The grooms were Felipeh Campos and Rafael Scapucim. They threw a party for over 300 people in a Candomblé ritual.

  66. ale says – reply to this

    166

You're WRONG!! there have been gay weddings in Mexico City for almost a year, Uruguay is not the first one!!! unless you don't think Mexico is Latin America

  67. Nathalie says – reply to this

    167

I don't know if you did this on purpose but its Uruguay not Urugay…wtf

  69. john smith says – reply to this

    169

Actually a same sex civil union bill was passed in Mexico City in November of 2006 and in Coahuila (Saltillo, Torreon) in January of 2007. This local state bill becomes a law as it is enacted and according to the principles of federation in Mexico, this forces all states in Mexico to recognize same sex civil unions.
