All In The Name Of Art???

We think we know where Abortion Girl found her inspiration!
Back in 2000, Jonathan Yegge (above) was a student at the San Francisco Art Institute who did a public performance art piece that got the whole school, the local community and the entire worldwide internet talking.
Let's revisit his little "performance piece," shall we?
Yegge asked for a volunteer from his art class, got one, and then had voluntarily sign a makeshift contract stating that the volunteer was agreeing to participate in a performance piece containing acts "including and up to a sexual or violent nature."
Yegge led the volunteer out into a campus public area and then, let him explain in his words what he did.
"He was tied up. He had a blindfold and a gag, but he could see and talk through it. He had freedom of movement of his pelvis. I engaged in oral sex with him and he engaged in oral sex with me. I had given him an enema, and I had taken a shit and stuffed it in his ass. That goes on, he shits all over me, I shit in him. There was a security guard present. There was an instructor from the school present. It was videoed, and the piece was over."
College kids are so damn crazy!
Naturally, a lot of shit went down after this shit incident.
Click here for a great article discussing the after-effects of Yegge's very controversial performance piece.
Wonder what's happened to him since this all went down back in the day????
Update: Here is his MySpace page!

Are you effing kidding me? I HATE "artists"!
Shouldn't you have credited SFWeekly for most of the text of this post. Most of the text is quoted directly from the February 23, 2000 SFW, an article entitled "Public Enema #2."
Which begins:
"Yegge asked for a volunteer from the class, got one, then took the young man aside into an empty room. Yegge handed the soon-to-be subject of his artwork a makeshift contract stating that the volunteer was agreeing to participate in a performance piece containing acts "including and up to a sexual or violent nature." The volunteer signed the contract.
Yegge led the volunteer out into a campus public area, in front of Labat's class and anyone else who happened by, and then … well, maybe it's best to let Yegge explain. (quote follows as above)."
Not cool.
another reason why humans shouldn't procreate
You guys want art???
Watch 2 girls and a cup. hahahahahaa
Perez/Mario, 4 such a free minded spirit, you have a damn conservative and narrow minded look on art…but I guess so do 199,999,999 Americans and 5,999,999,900 earthlings with you hahaha
never heard of Duchamp who made art outta his own crap?
Is this 2008 or the dark ages???
my friends were attending there when he did this, funny thing is most people just said it was annoying and he was always a pretentious guy. i guess things never really change.
Welcome to the world of anti-art, where complete fools with tenure give grades to perverts and the mentally ill for demonstrating they are perverts and the mentally ill. The media pays attention to this sort of bull, but ignores truly beautiful works of art.
And don't go thinking I hate this stuff because I'm some sort of prude. I'm a fan of much surrealist work (which often includes perverse material) and I find the Marquis de Sade funny — so for me to find these people offensive is really saying something.
In the meantime, I'm still trying to get my work performed. I guess if I induced an abortion in a woman who was 5 months pregnant on stage, I'd get somewhere.
This is more a comment about the youtube that perze supported called "shitty excuse for art" i agree that these "performances" are controversal but THERE IS NO WAY TO DEFINE ART. Its all about envoking an emotional response from the viewer, and bring issues into the public eye such as homosexuality and abortion….low self esteem is not the reason that people do these things its because they are passionate about a specific situation! So that chick on the you tube…if she wants to sound so educated then maybe curing every other word at the end of the clip and giving the finger, would not be the way to do it, and reading the definition out of a book or off of a website is not the answer either…maybe experience some research that requires more than a day or two would probally be the best bet….performance art has always been like that, god and research the performance art of the sixties and seventies, and you will see that nudity, sexuality, controversal subject matter all come into play!! Sorry!! Sex is always present in life…hello its all over this website! Just research more! Sorry perez! dont mean to be on a soap box!! I really like your site just not the girl on the youtube you supported! ha!! keep up your gossip!!
Is it just me or he's actually cute in that picture?
just for the record, jonathan is a really wonderful guy.
not a pervert or mentally ill as suggested here.
& not a divorced scientologist. (that's a… joke, you realise? yes a joke. on myspace. who knew!)
p.s. he's now a theology professor
