She sounded horrible. The back up singers pretty much sang the whole thing for her.

i dont really think she sounds that bad, i think the sound sucks. She´s still better than her sister cus she has actitud. her singing it´s ok, but the music and the message is very important too. Actually i do have expectatives for her new album, not cus her singing skills but because the people that she has work with, great producers like Timbaland, Chad Hugo, Pharrel, KENNA!!!. It should sound great. Thas a PLUS for Ashlee no doubt.

what's weird about this is that HER song was written in a key she can't sing. It was like trying to sing karaoke but you just can't get the right key no matter how hard you try. the stomping around on stage was awkward too.

Ok, so let me weigh in. Not a fan of her music. Don't listen to her. I've seen American Idol kickoffs better than that. But Perezie Poo, those pants made her look uber bow legged and did her no favors. And if it wasn't for the background singers, you're right, she would not have been understood. So we've established the fact that she's not the world's greatest singer! But she's not THAT bad… the sound system was NOT set up great…. her low notes were barely audible. Then again, maybe she shouldn't be singing that low in the first place. It's sad, this girl's got way too much working against her.

I agree that she doesn't sound bad at all (which isn't to say she sounds great. . ) . maybe the low, huskyish voice isn't your cup of tea, but I kinda like it.
While that was not the best live performance ever, it's still a hell of a lot better than what most people would be able to do. She was in tune (even on the parts that were pushing her range). Ashlee has a lot more talent than most of the bubblegum pop starlets out there.

She's been styled by others, altered by plastic surgery, and pimped by her father. She has a seven-note range, at best. She can not write music. She is successful because Americans are easily sucked in by heterogeneity. I swear there is a factory somewhere producing pretty girls who can sing a few bars. Is it any wonder McDonald's is the most popular restaurant in America? It caters to people who order the same thing, every time. For a nobody singing at a karaoke bar it wasn't all that horrible, but for a supposedly professional singer who makes her livelihood from it, it sucked very big time! The problem with the Simpson sisters is that they have no talent at all. They rely on lots of PR and idiots who support just about anything. After the last news about her engagement and possibly a pregnancy it is obvious that in order to sell her album conveniently an engagement and rumors are everywhere about a baby. It is just amazing to watch Ashlee and her stupid idiot face boyfriend, fiancee / puppet acting like they are the IT people. Nobody cares about them, and they act like they are Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. My opinion is that whatever his name is, should really think about what daddy Simpson is doing, exactly the same thing that he did with Nick Lachey, they used him and his band popularity to put Jessica in the map, and then getting rid of him. How transparent can they be? I mean the girls are pretty but with no talent on stage (at least as professional singers/performers). Let's recount what have they done that has an impact?
