Shes had a nose job but what about her chin? She neds to sort out that pointy bit pronto lol.
I've never heard her sing live before, but it just sounds like her voice is shocked
at 43 seconds, there is a noticeable bump. a baby bump? not sure, but a bump nonetheless.
the performance wasnt that bad. she just sang too low on some parts.
She is a talentless twat, and her nose is dropping faster than the Canadian dollar. I can say that, because I am Canadian.
That was really bad. They low voice is really terrible. She is very lucky to have the backing vocalists.
And why is everyone telling Perez to sing?? He doesn't claim to be a "singer", like that thing does. Fuck, I wish it would just go away.
Ashlee is paranoid, and knows it. The singing wasn't too snappy mainly cause she made it a point to put her voice louder than everyone elses to make it stand out. When she performs, she is uncomfortable, because I stand to believe that she doesn't want a music career. As much as I hate to say anything positve about them, truthfully I think both Simpson girls just want to fade out to obscurity. Sad thing is, their father wants them checks like a typical Texan Tycoon.
She should consider singing lessons. Her sister should too.

It was obviously not an awful vocal performance. it's just such an awful song. That song sucks balls. I wouldn't be surprised if she wrote it, that's how much it sucks. She should write songs that are do-able live. Because now, everytime ashlee has to perform live, it makes headlines.

OMFG I totally saw this and yes…it was just so LABORIOUS!! (look it up Perez readers). It was painful to watch…the band was trying to hard…and she was so fucking off key. The chick cannot sing..not without some SERIOUS protools behind her. It was HORRIBLE.
i love how mediocrity has become so acceptable these days. we'll accept a person as a professional singer and performer as long as they don't sound like crap. is it only me who thinks we should rally behind performers who are good and not ones that aren't terrible?Re: John Charles –
Ashley has an original voice (unique and stands out) and the fact that she writes her own music (note) she has some talent. I'm a singer. The beginning of her song was flat and she is singing to low for her voice range so she's straining. Secondly, her microphone was too low and her band sounded tinny. Get a more talented band and new sound engineers. Come on peeps, she needs to be coached in stage presence and vocals. Do not claim to be a star if you cannot perform. In music today we accept mediocrity as great talent. That says a lot about today's half ass music talent. Back in the day, the singers whether new or old got it right the first time on stage and practiced. Ashley needs practice, practice and more practice. She will always be nervous to perform on stage but that should get her adrennaline flowing when she see the crowd and should get siked. What is her true motivation for performing? I think she could be greater than her sister if she would only practice, practice and more practice before she performs.

i think she noticed her voice failed her a little, she looks nervose in the beginning, but i think she got better in the end, even the backup singers looked worried about her. i think she's a great singer/songwriter

From your post I was expecting something much worse. Her stage presence is annoying (Asslee, please stop dipping your knees– it also takes you out of camera range when you're on close-up). But it's not too bad. Obviously she had trouble hitting some notes–sounds like she has a cold. But it's not like she had to stretch herself on this song, either. All in all, I give it a 50%. It's just meh.
And I agree with the person above who said let's give Madonna equal time here on 'singing live' — Elton John is right about her. She sucks! Her voice is terrible and always has been. Talk about one of the first people to make it on no talent! And how did she become famous, you ask? By sheer will and force….and oh yeah, spreading her legs and 'shocking' the world. BFD.
U2 never performed on t.v. and Bono said because the mixes are always shite - especially on U.S. t.v. which uses a different technology to broadcast than the UK.

To be fair, Ashlee sounds like she has absolutely NO effects on her voice and the band sounds like they're in another room. Fire the ENGINEER and people learn what you're talking about - just cuz you watch music doesn't mean you know anything about production. Ashlee probably couldn't hear herself worth shit. And that”s what makes a mediocore singer sound even worse and why the smart pop chicks dance and lipsynch. I'd like to hear what she sounds like in a proper live show.

Actually it wasn't that bad. Some of Madonna's and Fergie's live pefrormances were so much worse! Some singers are really good at singing live (Robbie Williams for instance), others like Spice Girls or Ashley Simpson are not, but it doesn't make them bad singers. She has beautiful voice and she writes all the songs herself - you should give her credit for that!
I DONT THINK IT WAS THAT BAD, YEAH some of the lower part were inaudible but it wasnt 110% hot mess like you're saying. i thought it was a lot better than some of her performances i have heard!

she might not be an opera signer but she does have a particular style and it is a lot better than her ubber pop sound trying to be like big sis. I happen to really like the raspy-ness. I think it works.

I saw it when it came on TV and about 40 seconds into it, I turned the channel. Not good. Her stage presence wasn't even that impressive to me. I think she needs to find something else to do. Singing isn't for her.

People shouldn't hate on her for getting her nose done either, it made her face perfectly in proportion and now she is absolutely beautiful, and I adore her new hair color. So much so I'm actually thinking of getting mine that color. She looks so much better than her sister now. I like this song, I don't know about the performance, I wouldn't say it was awful, it wasn't great, but it certainly wasn't unbearable. I've listened to a few songs off her CD I DL'ed off Limewire and I'll probably end up buying it.

Im not a fan but i think it sounded good. At least you know that she is singing live, very few artists do now, and very few artists sound like they do on their cds.

Anyone who sings would know if you start flat or two low then take the vocal up a notch, if she sang the song in a slightly higher register it wouldnt have sounded that bad at all.
Her backup singer is frm Making the Band, she worked with Mariah Carey and Justin- so she must be doing well for herself. She has more talent in her pinky toe than Ashlee. Its a shame the industry is all about looks and not talent and then they wonder why sales are decreasing- because people want to listen to talent and not crap!

It wasn't that bad. The performance was only OK. The mix was not very polished and didn't make the vocal fit very well. The audio engineer could have done a much better job. I giver her credit for doing it live. Everyone is so used to hearing over-produced, slick sound -or canned vocals- that when you get something a bit raw, the reaction is that it sounds like shit-when it's just real.
The audience really seemed thrilled by the performance judging by the amount of applause. IMO, that was a bad-to-mediocre performance of a song with no hook or melody (and no enunciation for lyrical enhancement). If Ashlee sang anything besides 'let's get over it' and 'little miss obsessive' I wasn't able to understand the garble. Who buys this?
F! What a shame. She is a disgrace to music. What a poser! I feel sorry for all of the talented struggling musicians out there who are so much more talented than this FAKE, COMMERCIALIZED, MANUFACTURED POSER! I feel ashamed for this society that pushes this shit to fruition.
