According to reports, "President " George W. Bush is going to appear on a game show this coming Monday, which will feature a contestant who is a soldier.
No, it's not Are You Smarter than a Fifth Grader. Close, though!
'W' is going to appear on NBC's Deal or No Deal.
The White House PR team is probably doing jumping jacks that this nice, fluffy AND war-related piece actually came their way!
Captain Joseph Kobes reportedly competes in the popular Howie Mandel-fronted show to attempt to win enough cash to pay off his parents' home. The dealmaking is briefly halted for Kobes, a Purple Heart and Bronze Star recipient who has served in Iraq THREE times. 'W' surprises him by appearing on a screen to express gratitude for his service and wish him luck in the game.
The 'W' piece was pre-taped.
Hats off to Captain Kobes, though. We can't wait to hear if he won all the money needed to help his fam. If the Captain didn't win all that was needed, maybe 'W' can make some phone calls to get Haliburton's charitable contributions gang to cover the debt!
Oprah would pay for the house, even if he lost!

Re: BATHOG – Well I just want to say that in my state we have a beautiful VA hospital and it certainly is not roach infested. We are proud of our military men and offer them amazing health care. I know because I have volunteered there many times. Sorry but you'll have to speak for yourself on that one. Oh, and the vets are always kind and very grateful for the smallest gestures you do for them. Proud to be an American.

A young woman was finishing her first year of college and considered herself to be very liberal Democrat. She was very much in favor of higher taxes to support more government programs. She was deeply ashamed that her father was a staunch Republican. Based on the lectures that she had participated in, she felt that her father harbored an evil, selfish desire to keep what he thought should be his. One day she was challenging her father on his opposition to higher taxes on the rich. He responded by asking how she was doing in school. friend Audrey doing?" She replied, "Audrey is barely getting by. She never studies, and she barely has a 2.0 GPA. College for her is a blast. She's always invited to all the parties, and lots of times she doesn't even show up for classes because she's too hung over." Her father asked her, "Why don't you go to the Dean's office and ask him to deduct a 1.0 off your GPA and give it to your friend Audrey, who only has a 2.0. That way you will both have a 3.0 GPA and certainly that would be a fair and equal distribution of GPA." "The daughter, visibly shocked by her father's suggestion, angrily fired back, "How would that be fair? I've worked really hard for my grades! I've invested a lot of time and hard work. Audrey has done next to nothing toward her degree. She played while I worked my tail off!" The father slowly smiled, winked and said gently, "Welcome to the Republican Party."

Being a military wife whose husband is going on his 3rd tour can tell you they don't give you enough money to live on while your spouse is away or even working here is the US! They could care less if something happens to them or their families!!!!!!!!!!!!! #214 Seeing Bush is a dream come true? PULeaseeeee. Seeing Bush saying bye bye next year is going to be a real dream come true. The end of a perpetual nightmare that our country has endured for far too long.
Support our troops and everything they do. It is not their faults and yet the unfair burden of this war is placed on their backs and military families stationed throughout the world- myself being one of them.
I will watch this show not to see the biggest idiot to date, but to see a brave officer try his shot at this show. Shouldn't our wonderful president be working on getting our troops out of Iraq/Afghanistan? NO, he is supporting policies that force soldiers like my husband who are expected to go back to Iraq for his third consecutive year-long tour since summer of 2004.

I know one thing more that we have in common and that is we are both passionate about this country or there wouldn't be so much venom in our words. Anyway..I'm posting to tell you that your response was deeply appreciated. I understand your angst not knowing what day to day will hold for your son. I am lucky that mine is still a baby for now. I have nothing but respect for our military, I can hardly stand in their presence anymore without feeling overpowering emotion and gratitude. I am third generation here but my grandparents still taught us American/German tradition. I also pass that on to my children. I want to tell you that even if you do not agree with our government today you have done a service we can never thank you enough for. Thank you for your bravery and strength and for spreading more love than hate. That is what I consider to be the elements of a true leader. I will pray for your son as if he were mine. God Bless.

Re: curt – You know what I learned through this experience Curt? That no matter what we believe in, we all have so very much in common because we are just people in the end. All of us just trying to be at peace and find our place in this life. I find it amazing that you can come to a place like this and meet someone who shares many commons with your life. My Oma was from Stuttgart and yes I know the area well, and each of us was born(my brothers and I) learning about our great uncle who played bridge with Hitler because he was known for his card playing, and how our other uncle(an American soldier) faked death to survive, listening to his friends being killed around him. I grew up respecting that war was sometimes a necessary evil, but an evil nonetheless. Thank you for your kind words and for being a stand-up soldier.
