One thing that has been bugging me is how many people say that Christianity is the only way. If my sources are correct, Christianity has only been around for a couple thousand years, yet there are other religions that have been around for far longer. Why is only one way right? Obviously there is more than one way to look at a superior being or how we were created or our purpose in life. Christianity is just one of way looking at it, not the only way.

I think when I die "IF" what I have given my heart and spirit to on the other side was wrong, I lost nothing believing. My guess is that the video was made to persuade Oprah viewers not to vote for Obama. Given all that, all roads eventually lead to God, but it's your decision to be given grace or to be judged. honestly, christians are incapable of having an open dialogue about faith and reason. Opening their minds would mean that they might end up questioning their fickle faith.. and losing it. I would like to ask them to really examine themselves and give me a real reason why theirs is the only faith that will bring a person to heaven. This proof can't be from the bible or from emotions. Christians aren't crazy. Oprah wasn't paying attention to the sermon her pastor was giving because God is a jealous god, as someone else said. He's jealous when we submit ourselves to manmade gods and don't give ourselves to Him as we should. A pastor at my church gave a sermon that responded to a book called The Secret that she promoted on her show and basically said that the book was wrong. He aired a clip where the author stated that we are all powerful and can achieve anything on our own, which he said is of course impossible because we aren't God.

Christians are people who have searched for God, and found Him. They are humans, struggling like anyone else in this world. The only diffence between them and non-believers is, they have found out they are not alone, that Jesus is alive in Heaven, He knows their hurts, their pains, their struggles, and He is there to help and comfort them. They know they are no better than anyone else. The reason they stand so firmly on their belief in Jesus is because they know what life was like before that, the hurting, the guilt, the pain, that empty feeling, and they want other people to have the HOPE and security they have now, knowing they are not alone. It is like having a baby. No man can understand that, because he has never experienced it. A non-believer in Jesus cannot understand a Christian either, because they have not experienced actually knowing that God is real, alive, and in heaven. IF you truely want answers, honestly from the bottom of your heart, ask God to show you the truth. Then wait, be watchful, something in your life will show you. Simple as that.

Wow, some Christians who can speak the truth! In answer to the questions of what are Christians doing reading Perez, the lady before me said it well. Christians are people/humans too. No one is perfect aside from Jesus. Imperfect Christians move amongst you all day long, you have probably noticed them, they are the ones who smile when they have troubles, ask you if you need anything, look peaceful when there husband walks out the door or their car broke down. Why in the middle of crap do they look ok? Because they know they are not alone. They may not be perfect, they may entertain themselves by reading gossip columes, they may drink to many cokes, smoke cigs, let out an occasional swear word, but they know at the end of the day, that each day they have hope, they are not alone. All of us try to do better each day, whether were a Christian or not. The only difference in all of us sinners is, the ones who have faith, are not alone, and have help. Do you sleep well at night? I have always known that Christians are a dangerous sort for the most part. They talk about a loving Jesus, but they take their religion and their bible for their benefit. They quote and interpret to their "way" and do not want to listen to any argument that remotely resembles logic discussion. What do they think, that I am going to listen to their jargon and misinterpretation as being the 'ONLY' word? PLEASE! Jesus never wrote anything directly and did not come here to create a church. That is all man made. Organized religion has been instituted by men especially in power to control masses by fear and intimidation. Take for instance the Catholic church stance for sin absolution. You need to confess to a priest so he can give you absolution in God's name? Doesn't that strike you as being a way for the clergy to know what the hell you are doing? why would God need a mediator? Have you not noticed that God speaks to all of these people on a daily basis? PERFECT GIRL, Christians are not panicing. They are using this forum to tell the truth. They know God is in control of all things, and panicing is a waste of time. The reason Christian's speak out is because they care about other people. They are not trying to draw attention to themselves, but to bring some comfort and help to others. Many have written on here in plain english, no preaching, just their truth. Try to get past your unbelief and read what they are writing. It could fill up an empty spot or broken heart. Even Perfect Girls have a tear or two, don't they? When we get quiet and listen, we might just get some insight.

Oprah as the "agent of satan" is pure silliness. It's amazing the wasted energy expended in this forum with all the negative and hateful comments. Why can't people debate like mature adults? You don't have to believe Oprah's views, and that's ok. She evens says so. This is not a new religion (A New Earth), but words that may help to improve the quality of your life. Notice, i say "may". It's up to the reader to decide whether he/she want to apply them in his/her life. As for all the negative remarks from Christians..well, it is time for Christians and all people to wake up. Please get educated and question…just like the Ancient Greeks taught us. Ask yourselves WHY was religion created? Who wrote the bible? no, who REALLY wrote the bible. This does not mean there is a reason to knock what is in there. There is wisdom in it, as is in a lot of literature through the ages.
There are those of us who believe more universally and more evolved. I believe the bible has been rewritten in parts, some parts destroyed, and some missing. It's a great book, but I feel it's not complete and misrepresented in parts. Eg., Constantine. There are conservative Christians who take the whole bible literally. I feel, although it has it's historical truths, etc., it has stories, allegories, and personally I do not take most of them literally. You can be Christian, have Christian values, and be open-minded and tolerant. Question things. I feel and so do many others that some aspects of religion are man-made and some parts were changed throughout history to keep people in line and for power, etc. Look at Catholics telling people that if they ate meat on Friday they would go to hell. Now they can eat meat. So all those that ate meat are in hell. When things don't fit, I use logic and say that doesn't make sense.
If Jesus were alive today, he would be TOLERANT of other's beliefs and he would not be judgmental. Look at his true teachings. Jesus was also a man and I feel the way through God is through yourself. I think he simply was saying it's through the individual. Things can be interpreted different ways just as good deeds are so-called subjective. I personally think one inately knows when they are doing good or bad. I have no problem with what others believe as long as they aren't hurting anyone physically, mentally, or emotionally or pushing their beliefs on others. However, I do feel it is ignorant and judgmental to say that people in other parts of the world, of other faiths or non-faiths, non-Christians ascentually are all going to hell to burn for eternity. Oprah has been on my nerves for a while now because I think she has become too full of herself, BUT I have never understood why it is that people say God is all loving and all forgiving, but then turn right around and talk about God's wrath and jealousy and anger etc… What kind of sense does that make? How can a being who is supposed to be the creator of all things and be all loving be a vengeful God? In my opinion - that cannot be true. People need to keep in mind that the Bible is a BOOK that was written and translated by man. Mistakes could have been made in translation or someone could have written whatever they wanted and called it the word of God. Christians that I have said that to think I am a non-Christian for believing that. Sorry, but just because the print is in red of things Jesus is supposed to have said, doesn't mean that he really did say it. I think people should believe what they want, discard the rest and live a life that is truly their own; instead of following a book! (just my opinion - let those of you who I have offended cast the first stone…)
I am a 100% with Oprah I am very spiritual too christians say not to judge but thats all they do, for them its the only way to go when everyone know that the only way you can go strong in life is if you believe in YOURSELF no one else.
