Oprah didn't say something from the Bible. She said something that her minister said in a sermon; she was recalling a day in church when she was 27 and in doing so, she repeated what the minister had said and explaining how it made her feel (how it made her question how God could have ANY weaknesses at all being that she had always and still does believe Him to be omnipotent without the base weaknesses that plague man.)
i miss the days when we used to throw those type of people to the lions. at least that's entertaining.

I don't think it is or has ever been a secret what Oprah believes. I am not going to sit and research every aspect of her personal theology, because quite frankly I have better things to do with my time. Anyone whose has watched her show for the past few years can discern that her beliefs fall into the 'every thing is relative–all ways lead to god' theology. I believe that human beings have freewill to believe what they choose. I am not out to take away your freewill so leave mine alone. I am a Christian, I believe that Jesus is the only way to God.
it makes me really upset when people get so caught up in their religion that they forget to be civil to one another. she isn't saying that anyones' beliefs are wrong, just that not everyone views everything the same way. everyone should just believe what makes them happy, and that's it. just because you say something is a certain way doesn't mean that it is. if you think apples are gross, someone else might not think that they're gross. everyone thinks different, everyone is different.
I'm not a "crazy" Christian persay. I do not attend church like I should, but there is one thing I will say. This is a big thing because Oprah is so powerful to the world and of course many people will listen to her. You have to have faith. That's all you have to have. She is some sort of evil by turning innocent people away from God. If she was smart and was listening to the surmon when she was 28 then she might have got her comment right about him being jealous. God isn't jealous of her, he's jealous in the way that he wants all of our love. She must not care anymore. But I do know one thing. She can believe whatever the hell she wants to believe and I can believe in God and know that when I die I'm going to heaven. She'll be going to hell!

By the way, Jesus was not all about peace. He was very divisive. He overturned the tables of the money changers in the temple because they were profitting off of religion. He was crucified because he was a threat to the religious establishment at that time(as evidenced on Palm Sunday when crowds of people were laying palm branches at His feet and calling Him the Messiah) and He had nothing very good to say about the chief priests and the pharisees. Jesus fulfilled the covenant of the Old Testament and turned the established religion of the time upside down. (see part 2)
Part 2 -Jesus' followers were so afraid after he was crucified that they scattered and hid. In fact, all of the disciples of Christ (except John) who preached the Gospel and devoted their lives to the teachings of Jesus were martyred for their beliefs. If Jesus was all about getting along and love, why would he send His best friends, His disciples, into a hostile world to preach knowing that they would be killed for His name's sake? Yes, Jesus preached love and acceptance, but not contrary to His other teachings. He was very clear that He is the only way to heaven. Logically, you cannot accept Jesus as just a prophet, or a good man, but not God. He Himself claimed to be God "I and the Father are one." So, either He was a lunatic (visions of grandeur), a liar or truly God. And by the way, the Gospels of Christ were written by eyewitnesses and disciples who followed Christ and witnessed His preaching. There is no middle ground people. You either believe or you don't and there are consequences for non-belief. Jesus made that very clear.

Some people are a disgrace to the Christian faith. I do not even call myself a Christian anymore, because of people like this. All I have to say in regards to this is that, God is what you make of him, the bottom line of everything in life is Faith, it come down to weather you have faith to believe. If what ever religion you practice makes you appreciate and see God in a much understandable way I respect that, but do you have utter faith in what you preach?. I was raised catholic, and there many things I disagree with my religion and many things I find reasonable in other religions. I believe God is in everything, and he gave us the free will to choose weather we want to believe in him or not, weather we want to have faith that a greater force does exist.

I don't think this video is unfair to Oprah because it doesn't do much other then present what she is saying about what she believes.
Those beliefs happen to contradict Christianity, so the video is quite informative.
She cleary misunderstands Christianity and what a "jealous" God is. She thinks it means he's jealous of what she has. It actually means that God loves you so much that he created you and wants you all for himself. Isn't that what true love is any way? I wouldn't want to be in any relationship where the person didn't love me so much that they wanted me to belong to them… I agree with what she said about God being Love.
Christianity is faith in a person, not a doctrine. Faith in doctrine is irrational because a doctrine is based on premises. That means in order to accept them you need to see if they are logical and match the evidence presented to you. Faith in a person is based on an experience of a person that is worthy of faith. This is true whether you're believing God or another person you trust. It's a misunderstanding that most Christians make too, so I don't fault Oprah for that.

No one, not one, can judge the salvation of one another. Oprah may very be right alongside all of us in heaven, if she repents of her sins, accepts Jesus as the one and ONLY way to God her father, and stops living in sin. "For we all have fallen short of the glory of God"… none of us DESERVE to go to heaven, only through the blood of Jesus Christ was this priviledge PURCHASED for us by the body of Christ when he sacrificed himself on the cross. His blood was shed to wash away our sins.
If those of you have, as you claim, and open mind to religion and spirituality, than PLEASE give Christianity a genuine try. I beg you. It starts with a simple prayer, you can bow your heads now and pray. "Dear Father in heaven, I accept and believe that you died on the cross for my sins. Try praying this, with sincerity, and see if God doesn't touch your heart. I believe if you pray this with an open mind and open and sincere heart, you will feel a difference. This is how I know Christianity is real and that God/Jesus are the ONLY way to heaven, because he lives in my heart and he has changed me from the inside out. He has brought me joy and peace beyond my wildest dreams. He can and will do the same for you if you only invite him in and give Him a chance!!! He loves you like no one else can or ever will. it really is important to study religion to understand the anthropology of people and why people behave as they do. if you heard will smith's comments about hitler, it would help you understand the threads that link this theosophy.
if you have studied all religions instead of just christianity, you would know this.

Man made consequences clear. I do not believe in a punishing, vengeful God. I would not follow someone like that. I believe in an all-loving forgiveful God. The bible has been written and RE-WRITTEN and it is not complete. A lot of the changes were for power and to keep people in line. Everyone can think what they want, but I believe more evolved people ask questions, educate themselves, and have an open mind. They don't just blindly follow brainwashing that they grew up with. What if they were born in a different part of the world? THINK. You can be Christian or have Christian values and have opinions of your own. If more people focused on the real teachings of Jesus instead of threatening others with hellfire, damnation, and their hypocritical judements, this world would be a lot better of a place.

I agree with this video. I am a Christian. And yes, God is a jealous God. If you put idols before him and focus your energy towards money, sex, drugs, work, and you never give HIM any of your time. If you were a parent of a child who wanted to spend more time with their friends and classmates doing what they wanted to do instead of spending time with you, their parent.. wouldn't you as a mother or father get somewhat jealous?

God isn't jealous of her. What would he be jealous of her for? No, he is jealous for her love and attention. At church this sunday, the sermon was about why we are put on the earth. We are actually put on this earth for one thing, to glorify God. To praise and worship him. He is giving us free will to make the choice and he is jealous of what takes us away from him.

so obviously, this video is informative for those with christian beliefs. i don't think it's meant for those of us who aren't christian. and it's not as though they are asking to put an end to oprah's religion. that would be intolerant.

One last word, I try not to focus on evil. I try to see good and do good deeds. Oprah's doctrine can't be absolute truth… Y? Cuz U can't just depend on God to be in your mind at all times. What if you're suicidal? or depressed? Like I was and can't think straight? You need a real God to save you. In my humble opinion, Oprah can afford to have this as her religion cuz she has nothing to worry about.. she's set for life! And if you look at it.. this doctrine is very exclusive. What if you can't read either? U wont know there's a God?

Re: karen – I think some Buddhists might call Christianity "just a fad." If God is the creator of everything, why would It give us only one way to allow Itself into our lives (through Jesus), thousands and thousands of years after the first civilizations were created? Don't get me wrong, I have love in my heart for Jesus, but I definitely don't discount how other people go about bringing God into their lives. It would be very ignorant to do such a thing.
