John - Why would you expect Madonna to be better than you? Do you have extra low self esteem? I mean, look at her, she's trashy.
There comes a time in person's life when they need to face the fact that they may have mental health issues. Maybe she can make an appt. with Brit's doctor. She is doing very well. Maybe there's hope for Sharon.

Cricket, you won't read this, but I would expect Madonna to be better than I because a) she's into Kabbalah, which is a very principled ideology; b) she does a lot of charity work, and what she's doing to help Malawi shows that she sort of is trying to adhere to principles of helping others; and c) she's older than I, has had enormous success and influence, and seems to have figured herself out somewhat.
Her video essentially amounts to an endorsement of a website that is all about ego: let's tear down the people who are successful so we can boost our own egos, our own small self-esteems. Yes, it's funny too. I don't know if I have low self-esteem, but if I were less apathetic and cared more about the world, I wouldn't go to a site like this that I think is making the world a worse place by focusing on perfection, tearing people down, and conformity (while hiding behind the occasional "donate to this charity" link, as though that makes it alright to post pictures of a woman in tears as someone uses the medium of film to capture her grief and broadcast it all over the world). I consider this site a vice, like binge drinking or smoking; I come here because it makes me laugh, but I'm not proud that I'm laughing.
And yeah, I think Madonna should be fucking better than me. I also think it's worse when Madonna posts a video because it essentially validates the site. It sends the message out there "Hey everyone! Hey kids! If you are creative enough in the way you are mean, you can get whatever you want! You can meet your heros if you blend in by conforming and making fun of other people! Just harass the person who is different!" Sure, when Perez makes fun of Rumor Willis, he is actually giving her career, and she knows it, and he knows it — hell, they may even be friends secretly — but what about all the 14 year old girls who have big chins and see the comments and think "Wow, I sure am ugly. I wonder how many tylonol pills I would have to take in order to kill myself?" I guess I don't see Madonna as someone who is apathetic. I feel apathetic sometimes, and I need to laugh, to feel something, and I hope at some point I can stop going to this site. I just never saw Madonna as apathetic, or sleazy for that matter. I always thought she was classy, even when burned crosses and put out smut videos, I thought there was an artistic point.
And I thought her video was funny. I just think this site, even if it discovers new artists and helps get people to donate to charity, probably will increase low self-esteem among people who don't conform, and has a horrible rippling affect on the attitudes people have, especially because so many of his viewers are young people. So yeah, cricket, I think Madonna should be a lot better than me. I'm in my 20s, I'm still confused about life, and I'm embarrassed I come to this site and I was just really really fucking surprised to see that video, I suppose.

Someone in a previous post had inquired about the identity of Sharon's "baby daddy ". Nobody knows, probably not even Sharon, because all three of her sons were adopted as newborns. She couldn't have kids of her own because of the near-fatal brain aneurysm she suffered a few years before she started adopting. Pregnancy and childbirth would have been too dangerous for her to risk. Her career may be over now, but I hear that she bakes delicious pies. Maybe she should follow the example of Amy Sedaris with her cupcake business and pursue marketing her own baked goods? Just a thought.
After she broke up with Phil her life went downhill. So sad. Is she still in the acting business or has she taken an "indefinite break to raise her family"?

bei ng a multimillion dollar celebrity with children must be a challenge - with all the paps chasing u around. HOWEVER I have NO sympathy. These people know what they are getting into when they enter the Hollyweird scene, play act for a living, become rich and famous beyond words. This is the downside to their jobs - and we all have them.
