Pot Smokers Welcomed At University of Colorado

About 10,000 people gathered to celebrate 4/20 on Sunday by lighting their blunts at 4:20pm at the University of Colorado's Norlin Quadrangle.
This year far exceed last year's turnout. The much larger crowd was moved from the traditional site of Farrand Field to the much larger Norlin Quad to accommodate for the amount of people.
The annual event also had daytime concerts to keep the kiddies entertained.
But, the best news of all, not one person was cited or arrested for publicly smoking marijuana!
Fun times at CU!
In the past, officers have tried to catch the pot smokers. One year, the smokers were drenched with the sprinklers to try and prevent the festivities. Back in 2006, undercover photographers were sent to take photos of those smoking. The photos of over 150 offenders were then posted on the department's website with an offer of $50 for each person identified.
As for the large turnout, a police spokeswhore suspects it has to do with the fact that no one was in class. “I guess it’s not like they had to cut a 4 p.m. class to go do it. People are not all that busy at 4:20 p.m. in the afternoon on a Sunday.”
The crowd consisted of a peaceful gathering with giant balls and frisbees being tossed around. Most of the crowd went dressed in green, and many were seen playing the bongos and having small picnics.

I am shocked at the number of people who think that smoking pot is so bad… resorting to calling people whores… as if… your an ignorant prick!!! It's 420 because it all started with a group of highschool kids at San Rafael High School in 1971, who called themselves the Waldos; every day after school they would at 4:20 to smoke weed at the campus statue of Louis Pasteur. 420 became code for 'time to get high'; the code spread and eventually it became national weed smoking day.
Why I hate pot smokers:
They THINK they are cooler, hipper, more refined, more intelligent, more advanced, more accepting, and more fun than those of us who don't smoke pot.
And they are wrong.
Why? Because their brains are filled with drugs. DUH!

Two, I love both Boulder and Berkeley, but Boulder doesn't want to be Berkeley. Boulder is happy being Boulder. Boulder and Berkeley are worlds apart, although both have pretty liberal populations, they are still so very different.
Three, just because he posted about Boulder doesn't mean other places don't have good 4/20 scenes. Maybe you'll get your shot next year, Arcata. 10,000 people is pretty f'ing great, though. Go Colorado!

So why isn't marijuana legal? There were that many people together smoking and there was not one report of violence or anything that would give the government a reason to consider it an illegal drug. Alcohol is legal and if the same amount of people had been drinking together I can almost guarantee there would be fights breaking out all over the place, but they won't legalize this?
It's kind of ridiculous when you think about the amount of money they would bring in from taxing the shit out of it just like cigarettes.. they have no reason not to!
if you're going to cover this story… how the hell can you not cover 4/20 at UC Santa Cruz?? It was voted the most stoned campus by Rolling Stone magazine and is notorious for its annual 4/20 celebration which the cops and local fire department actually regulate. no one is arrested… enforcement is just there to make sure things are safe. Numbers were up to 5000 people last year. This is an annual tradition and famous nation wide. Colorado can't even begin to compete.

Who needs Vicadin? Well, you do, if you live in some place like Utah, but in Oregon you can go to the weed that you grew within the bounds of the law. MAKE SURE TO GET YOUR WRIT. And if your state doesn't have MML legislation, then get off your couch, turn off South Park, put down your Doritos, and work for a change, ya hippie.

Um i go to CSU and it is waaaay better than CU, CU is nothing but a bunch of creepy, smelly, hippy people who get high all of the time! Oh and actually i did get into CU and I know a lot of people up here in the fort that got accepted too and turned them down for CSU!!.It's also pretty sad that CU is most noted for their pot smokers and creepy weirdos hanging out on Pearl Street. CSU is for the people who are actually serious about their education!

In West Palm Beach each year we have something like this but it's in December and it's called "Buzz Bake Sale". There's usally 10-13 big bands playing during the day and everyone smokes and the cops and security guards don't care. I've went the past 3 years and saw bands ranging from The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus to Korn, The deftones, the list goes on and on. Perez You should come in December!

I live in Arvada about 20 minutes south of CU. Last year people brought a trampoline to the field and jumped around. People also gather at the State Capital and smoke without any arrests.

not only do they celebrate 4/20 at cu-boulder with the cops standing by just to prevent "major crimes" from occurring, but the entire boulder community seems to support pot. while pot is still illegal in colorado, it has been decriminalized in denver. i've seen mothers walking with young children sign petitions at the supermarket in boulder to legalize pot. the entire community seems to be very into it.
Umm, actually Perez the pot smoking happens all over campus everyday, but in this instance the festivities are specifically at Farrand Field, not Norlin Quad.
