Clinton Wins Big In Pennsylvania!

Filed under: Barack Obama > Hillary Clinton

wenn1762298__opt.jpg

She won by double digits!

By a margin of 55% to 45%, Hillary Clinton outshone her better-funded opponent, Barack Obama, to take home the Democratic presidential primary in Pennsylvania on Tuesday night.

Hillary has now won most of the major states, including Texas, California, Ohio, New York and Florida (thought that one doesn't count and its a shame).

She's in it to win it and not dropping out now!

Discuss.

Yes, her lead is only by 10% right now… however there's this website that gives you a run down county by county of the exact marginal count each condidate is ahead. Most counties in PA she is MURDERING in, especially western Pennsylvania. The only two counties I even saw Obama was winning in were in Philly.

    LOL @ hillary suckers

She will never win the general. She cannot even win the primary, though she may buy, cheat, or steal it.

She is hated by the majority of the country, for good reason

Obama is a great speaker, I will give him that. He does have the ability to enrapture a room - and I think that is why he's found so many supporters. I think of it as the Pied Piper leading the children to wherever he actually led them to - and they would follow his music blindly. Obama is doing the same thing - he gives these amazingly persuasive-sounding speeches that just draw people in, but the problem is that people are so taken by his oratory skills that they are not listening to what Obama is saying in his speeches. I have been listening, and Obama is not really saying anything at all!

He talks about having all of these wonderful ideas for change, and yet doesn't seem to address how he is going to go about making those changes. Most of the things he is talking about - like lowering the price of oil and gas by forcing car makers to manufacture more efficient cars - is just a pipe dream. That's not going to lower the price of oil - it's just going to raise the prices of cars and maybe lessen the number of times you need to fill up. It doesn't seem like Obama realizes that the President just can't make all the laws he wants to - Congress has to propose the bill, then it has to go through the House and Senate. So sorry, Obama! You can't make law, just advocate for its passing!

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO HILLARY!!! Obama's middle name is Hussein-I mean who can trust that. He's going to ruin us if you idiots keep voting for him. His preacher should leave the U.S. since he hates it and Obama was sitting in his pews like nothing was wrong—not a good candidate for out pres. Glad people are smarting up and voting for someone besides Dumbo Obama.

    412

I also have a problem with Obama's double-talking. He cries and complains that he is being attacked personally and that he'd rather focus on the issues. He has playing the same dirty politics so why is he complaining? He can dish it, but he can't take it apparently. My thought is - you signed yourself up to be a candidate which means you are now a public figure. Anything is fair game. If you didn't want any of that, then you shouldn't be running for the highest position in the land! He's also preaching all these ideas of change and moving forward for the good of the country, yet he complained when there was a possibility that Florida and Michigan's votes would be counted. Of course, those states went for Hillary so he wanted to keep them out. His decision to oppose the counting of those states' ballots was not a institution-changing, modern revamp of the electoral system, oh no. His decision to complain about the possibility of those votes being counted was solely because it would swing the count in Hillary's favor. Personally, I'd want those states to be counted - I'd want to win the election because I EARNED it, not because some state's primaries were held a week before they were supposed to. And if you really care about the American people, you would want to make sure their voices were heard regardless of how it affected you - THAT IS THE BASIS AND FOUNDATION OF DEMOCRACY!

    415

One of Obama's other key points is that he doesn't take money from oil companies for his campaign. Technically, that is true. He doesn't take money from the oil companies, but he does take money from the individual oil company executives. In a way I think that's even worse than if he DID take money from the companies because he is intentionally trying to mislead the American public. Oil companies DO fund his campaign - they just do it in a shady way.

There's also the whole wife isn't proud of America/racist pastor situations. I have a problem with your wife saying that this is the first time she is proud of her country. Really, now? Now that your husband is running for president (and ahead in the votes) you are proud of this country? What if he loses? You won't be proud anymore? You weren't proud when he made the Senate? You weren't proud when we supported New York in 9/11? You weren't proud when the USA Hockey Team beat the Soviets in the Olympics? You aren't proud of the National Anthem and our Nation's Rich History? Well then, Mrs. Obama, you don't deserve to be first lady. I also don't buy Obama's argument that what his preacher says has nothing to do with him or his campaign. It has everything to do with you and your campaign, especially when you made this man your spiritual leader. It's the same thing I said before - you signed yourself to be a candidate for president - anything is fair game and Obama, you should have known better.

Unfortunately her core demographic has fallen for her dishonorable campaign strategies and outlandish accusations. It's rather disappointing, she's won by only enough to keep her pushing forward toward a party win that everyone knows can't happen without huge wins. I support Obama stalwartly, and had thought Hillary and great alternative against McCain. However, with her dirty politics, grasping at straws antics and personal ambition as her key motivation, I'm not so sure I would vote for her, in the narrow chance she does come out as the Democratic nominee.

Then (and this for me, honestly is the straw that broke the camel's back), this weekend a door-to-door campaigner came around the neighborhood. The Hillary campaigners were nice, asked if they could put a sign on our lawn, and just reminded us that our polling place had moved for this election. The Obama campaigner, however, would not let me go. He just kept talking and talking and even asked me who I was voting for! I told him I had pretty much decided and didn't want to disclose anything else. He kept pushing me and pushing me to tell him until I just pointed at the Hillary sign on the lawn. To make matters even worse, the Obama campaigner was from Iowa! What the hell is Iowa doing getting involved in our election? Leave Pennsylvania alone! Seriously? Obama couldn't get any local campaigners? I think that's saying something…

first of all, winning big by double digits doesn't mean shit because it's about delegates. she will only take a few more than him tonight and he'll still lead the delegate count and the popular vote. it doesn't matter that she's won big states; he has more actual votes.

  40. Stephanie says – reply to this

    440

I will start off by saying that I am a strong Barack Obama supporter and not a fan of Hillary Clinton. Up until a month or so ago, I was OK with the thought of her getting the nomination. Now I don't think she will have my vote if she does win the Democratic nomination.

I really don't agree with any politicians using smear tactics against one another. The 2004 Bush/Kerry mud-slinging campaign just about did me in.

I feel that is what Clinton is doing to Obama, attacking him, trying to link him to extremists like Farrakhan; Showing pictures of Obama wearing a turban while visiting an African country. Wearing a turban does not make you a bad person, if I were a Muslim I would be offended that Clinton was trying to use that as a fear tactic. A lot of leaders wear native garb when visiting other countries, I've seen pictures of Bush in Vietnam wearing a silk robe, Bill Clinton in Ghana wearing native clothes, and even Hillary Clinton wearing a hijab in a Muslim country.

And with her staying in the race, even though Obama is winning the popular vote and has a higher amount of delegates, Clinton is saying that she can still win with super delegates.

Isn't that what outraged so many Americans in 2000 when Gore won the popular vote over Bush, yet Bush won the electorals?

If that is her plan, then I have no problem putting her on the same list as George W. Bush, and that isn't a very favorable list.

Ok Perez get your facts straight Hiliary DID NOT WIN IN DOUBLE DIGITS. If I hear that tired speech of hers one more time that she has 35 years experiece and she'll be ready day one,I'm gonna scream. It seems like her own people are trying to jeopdize her campaign by letting her go out there with that same old tired speech. She might've won PA but she's NOT going to win NC or IN so she might of well hang it up. There's NO WAY mathmatically that she can catch Obama.

Oh yeah one more thing Billy Bob just want to get back in the White House to chase some young thing. Him and Billary are gonna be sitting in bed playing rock paper scissors to she who goes after the NEW MONICA…..LOL

    449

Actually for Hillary to have won "big" she needed to get 63% of the vote and it's not looking like she's going to do that. The way it looks, the deligates are going to be split down the middle keeping Obama ahead on delegates. Hillary needs to go ahead and give up the ghost. If not, come July the dems are going to fall apart.

  52. Charlie says – reply to this

    452

Wow, 42% of voters is not even close to the fat lady singing, and either way right now at 75% of the voters in, she is only ahead 6 delegates from Obama. This was not about winning for Obama. It was about being close enough to make the woman sweat. He is still ahead by well over one hundred delegates. Hardly a "big win" for Clinton. I thought better of you, Perez, than to make sensational headlines like that. Wait, did I?

Clinton likely won by 8 points with 75% of precincts reporting. A month ago she led by more than 20 points here. Obama never expected to win PA, this was a make or break for for Clinton, not Obama. Hillary wins the big states because Hillary is entrenched with traditional Democrats. She's winning in traditional Democratic states. She's not motivating people to vote - she's just getting the vote of people who have always shown up to vote. Her victory in Pennsylvania (as Texas, Florida, Ohio) indicates nothing about who can win in these states against McCain. Clinton supporters are traditional Dems. They're not likely to switch teams in the general.

NY Times editorial board, which remember endorsed Clinton:

The Pennsylvania campaign, which produced yet another inconclusive result on Tuesday, was even meaner, more vacuous, more desperate, and more filled with pandering than the mean, vacuous, desperate, pander-filled contests that preceded it.

Voters are getting tired of it; it is demeaning the political process; and it does not work. It is past time for Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton to acknowledge that the negativity, for which she is mostly responsible, does nothing but harm to her, her opponent, her party and the 2008 election.

If nothing else, self interest should push her in that direction. Mrs. Clinton did not get the big win in Pennsylvania that she needed to challenge the calculus of the Democratic race. It is true that Senator Barack Obama outspent her 2-to-1. But Mrs. Clinton and her advisers should mainly blame themselves, because, as the political operatives say, they went heavily negative and ended up squandering a good part of what was once a 20-point lead.

I think Hillary should win! Obama never really seems to say much, just blabs on, i always tune out when he's talking. He keepts pulling the racist card, which makes me believe he is somewhat racist, and for us who aren't african-american, that's a scary thought. I'm sick of hearing his voice, he sound like a whiny baby. Hillary is well put together, she's super smart, she knows her shit, and even though it may be tough having a female president, i think she truly has our best interest at heart. I think obama likes the "celeb" aspect more, bowling, going to colleges, etc. he's all about the press and being pictured, hil on the other hand it always business. And thats' what we need right now.
