Mimi's Madonna Diss

Mariah Carey recently did an interview for Spain's Shangay Express magazine.
And she took a few not-too-subtle digs at the one and only Madonna!
A reporter from the magazine flew to New York to interview Miz. Carey and witnessed the divaness first-hand.
First, the album listening that was scheduled for 6pm was postponed ’til 9pm. The interview, which was supposed to take place at 9pm was posted to midnight. Then after hours of waiting, at 2:30am, they cancelled the interview since Mimi was too tired.
The next day, the reporter was invited to attend an MTV TRL taping. In total, Mariah had 11 people surrounding her, consisting of bodyguards, assistants, makeup peeps, label reps and wardrobe assistants. Now that's the way to travel!
Finally, the reporter gets the interview, with 3 hours left to spare before their flight departs.
Some of the highlights from the interview include:
- When the reporter asks if Mariah's obsessed with portraying an unreal image of herself via photoshop, Mariah denies the claim stating that everyone uses photoshop in the business. Everyone.
- When asked about Madonna (how dare that reporter mention that name infront of Mimi!!!) and how she feels about her Madgesty recording an R&B album, Mariah responds that it's "interesting." Then pauses, and continues, "It's very interesting."
- When the reporter mentions that Madonna worked with Pharrell (who also worked with Mimi), she asks if Mariah gave her some indirect inspiration. Carey responds, "I don't know, I don't have any idea about her intentions. I'll just say that it's very interesting."
- When questioned about creating her own clothing line, Mimi responds, "I'm working on my own collection of lingerie, darling. Why shouldn't I dedicate myself to under garments?"
- And when asked if her "diva demands" get worse over time, she responds, "What is over time? What is a diva? I know a lot about divas because it's a word I've heard ever since I was a little girl, because my mom is an opera singer. Diva demands? I don't think I have any. I'm a person who can take care of myself, you believe me, right?"
Riiiiiiiiiight.

Italians began to use the word «Diva» for the famous actresses of the silent movies. Female opera singers were called «Primadonna», and THIS word began to get a negative connotation because those opera singer were often capricious.
In Italian «DIVA» has the same meaning of "Star" and it's not necessarily negative.
For a man it's «Divo»

LOVE IT! Genius!! M, as in the original M(adonna) has sold 200,000 more songs of 4 Min to Touch My Body, in less time, on the digital chart than MooMoo. While radio is clearly to blame for yet ANOTHER LAME ASS NUMBER one for her, the people seem to have spoken…and sales speak louder than payola.

Re: Mara – That is true. Pharrell gave Mariah bullshit beats while the songs with Madonna are great. To think Mariah gave up her co-producing rights for the first time since her first album since the Neptunes never allow anyone to co-produce with them and that was the best Pharrell and Chad could come up with. Jermaine Dupri's Remix of Say Somethin blows Pharrell's version out of the water (I suggest you look it up on YouTube). I'm sure he crawled under a table after he heard how hot it turned out. I am a fan of both by the way, love Mariah more and I hate some qualities from both of them but I like them for different reasons. People need to get over this bullshit non existant war already. Mariah is a brilliant singer/songwriter and Madonna is the best performance artist around.

Re: brenda – You mean Madonna keeps having to change her style to stay relevant. If she wouldn't have done it with Ray of Light she would have been finished. The slut routine was getting old and tired and her brilliant album Bedtime Stories was overlooked by the Grammys. Mariah evolves with each album and continues to stay relevant with today's sound. Although I prefer a more soulful Mariah I understand she is doing contemporary music to sell albums, hell Madonna just did it herself by working with Tim and Pharrell to gain back her American audience. I must say though that both of their albums are really good. Anyone one that says otherwise is lying and an insecure STAN. Both are brill in their own way. Love ya Mariah haters.

It's still very much a dance/techno record like her most recent releases with a hiphop edge. Mariah's album is great and she hasn't even bothered to release the hottest tracks yet. Someone needs to get fired at Island DefJam for that though cause ByeBye is not where it's at. I like "She's Not Me" on Madonna's new one the most. You are right Perez, Pharrell's tracks are hotter than Tim's. They are both going to go down in the record books with these albums. Now if Perez would only stop talking shit……

Re: k – Well she has made a name of herself reveling in exploiting herself. When Madonna finally got involved in her music it was too late. Nobody noticed. They only notice her change in imagery and sound but not her contributions to her music. Mariah has always been involved in writing and producing her work but she suffered the same fate when to took on the bimbo routine to make herself seem more alluring the the male population and destroy the previous image of the boring girl next door.
Mariah is a phenomenal singer and Madonna is well, just OLD !!! Mariah would bust her in the mouth and knock her out. I"m sure Madonna should just keep vacuuming her dressing room and keep her mouth shut.

Re: WHAT IS A DIVA???? – It's funny because for someone who all you STANS claim is so innovative and ahead of the pack musically she followed the trend by working with Tim and Pharrell in order to get back on the US charts. She's not happy with just having the UK she wants to rule the world. That's what she said back in 84. It's so obvious, that's why it's interesting.
she put out an album full of music in 05 that was popular in the UK. I liked the album actually, don't get me wrong, but please don't come with that fake "she made an album with a sound that was against the grain." Unfortunately for her that sound was outdated by the late 90's and she was lagging behind what was current in the States. That's why she worked with Tim and Pharrell.
