What British accent? She just sounds like someone with a weird American accent. Hard to get rid of that over-emphasis of "r" after a vowel. If she's doing some good in Africa, then kudos to her. Noone can deny that it gives her great publicity, just when she's brought out a new album. But that makes me sound cynical. You just get a bit tired of these mega-rich entertainers preaching to the rest of us about their causes. Most of us are trying to get by ourselves. No we don't live in the absolute poverty many Africans do, but we still have to survive in our own culture and society, and provide our own kids with what's expected re food, shelter, clothing, education, etc. I don't have much left over once all the bills are paid. It's easy to be the philanthropist when you have so much money. I have sponsored a number of children through World Vision. That's the best I can do.

Forgive me if I am wrong but I recall reading some time ago that 'David' has a parent or parents and the reason the adoption is taking so long is because the parent/parents do not want to give up their child! Now if this is true then Madonna is one sick hypocrite! Notice how she talks about herself not having a mother while growing up but there is no mention of 'David' being an orphan or without parents? We must not only pay attention to what is being said, but also what is NOT being said. Again, forgive me if I am wrong. Her accent is not fake. It is perfectly natural to start picking up an accent like that when you are in a different country for a period time and surrounded by mostly people who speak that way. I'm American and spent two months in London on a work assignment, and started picking it up in only that short amount of time. It's like if a Brit moves to America and after a while people start saying they have "lost a lot of" your English accent. No, they have just starting picking up an American one. Same thing.
Although she pronounces a few words like the english, she still has an american accent.
Living in England and being married to an englishman could surely be the reason for picking up the accent.
People pick up accents all the time. It is nothing new. Take someone who was born and raised in Wisconsin, move them to Alabama or Georgia, and they will more than like pick up a twang in not time. It doesn't happen to everyone. Some people's accents never change. But it is a phenom that effects a lot people. It probably has to do with how easily the person mind is subconsciously effected by different voice inflections.

I think she is being sincere. I am going through an international adoption. There is NOTHING easy about it. She isn't just going through it but jumping through hoops. There wasn't international adoption in Malawi. What she is doing may help to eventually open it wide open and help the MILLIONS yes MILLIONS of children there. Bravo Madonna!
