After 30 years in the music industry, singer Phil Collins is finally retiring at age 57.
Collins recently completed a reunion tour with his former band, Genesis.
Friday he announced he will no longer be releasing any more albums or going on tours.
The now retired Collins plans to take a break from music, but will continue to write songs on his free time.
As for his free time, Collins has said he'll be spending time working on his favorite hobby. What's that?
Collecting memorabilia from the Battle of the Alamo!

Collins says, "It's not that unusual for a man of my age who grew up reading [about] Davy Crockett."

I appreciate all the support for Phil. He is a legend, and an extremely talented drummer, singer, and songwriter. I am devastated that I'll never seen him in concert again. (I saw him twice - once solo and once with Genesis.) LONG LIVE PHIL!
Well, Phil deserves retirement, he's had a great career. And I think it's really cool that a Brit takes an interest in American history. He's always loved America, he's got his head screwed on straight.

I heart Phil Collins in a huge way. I grew up to his music and stole my parents's Genesis/Phil Collins vinyls a few years ago. Everybody talks about In the Air Tonight, which is amazing. You know you bang out that drum part on your steering wheel when it comes on in the car. But seriously Perez, have you heard That's All? It's one of my top ten all time favorite songs. That's the kind of music you need to be posting on your site. I saw Sir Collins in concert when I was about 8 years old, and I wish I could remember it better. I'm bummed I won't have a chance to see him perform again. Although I have to admit I'm not a big fan of the Disney stuff.

This man is a LEGEND. He is very musically talented. I have loved him and his music since I was a kid. I will miss him and his music very much. However, practically any type of music station you listen to, you will hear Phil somewhere, whether it is with Genesis or Phil solo, so his legend will always live on. You have to respect someone that has so many hit songs that so many different types of music lovers enjoy. And, you have to give him credit, being the icon that he has been for all of these years, he has had no personal scandals (that I can remember)…kudos to him for that as well. LOVE YOU PHIL!!!!!

I think I understand, the appeal of Phil Collins. I don't follow his music that much, I actually make fun of it wrongly, but my girlfriend listens to him. I have music that offers me a kind of comfort, were other music doesn't quite work, and even though it doesn't appeal to me I think his music has the ability turn things around, offer that comfort and even inspire confidence. I think that is really what makes him so good and it is a great shame he is retiring but at least his music will still be there to discover for future generations, like the Beatles etc. and no 15min fame perez types can take that away from him

Genesis went to shit when Peter Gabriel moved on to a (HIGHLY successful) solo career. The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway was by FAR the best Genesis album and certain ranks in the top 100 of ALL albums ever made.

By the way, if anybody wants to hear Phil Collins' voice now (still great), the series "Songbook" is on in the U.K. featuring him doing live work with just a piano (and talking about songs). It's on Sky Anytime on Sky+ (and normal Sky at some point in early May), and I've been watching it this morning - amazed by how his voice is holding up.
