Veronicas singer Lisa Origliasso and former Australian Idol contestant Dean Geyer have announced their engagement.
The couple, who have been together for a year, released a statement on Monday to announce their happy news.
The Veronicas recently released their sophomore album, while South African-born Geyer released his debut album, Rush, last year, and has since turned his attention to acting. Last month, he joined the cast of the beloved and long-running soap Neighbours playing aspiring singer, Ty Harper.
Geyer recently told a Sydney radio station that he was very "loved up" and it was the "real deal" with Origliasso.
In the same interview, he confirmed he was still a virgin.
Someone as hot as he is that's still a virgin????

i love dean, i think he's a real sweetheart. he's made a huge deal down here in australia about his religious beliefs, and how he never wanted to lose his virginity before marriage…so i wonder why they are getting married after only a year?? hmm…but ya, that's the reason why a guy as gorgeous as him is still a virgin!! i'm very happy for them and all…but dean should marry ME!!
Perez and readers, heaven knows that it's a mortal sin in these parts to let truth get in the way of a good story but I figure you lot need to be set straight on just a couple of points.
Dean Geyer is not Catholic. He's a Pentecostal Christian (or what Americans would term an 'Evangelical Christian'). The Pentecostal gang are all about getting into heaven by accepting Jesus' teachings as described in the bible - hence Dean's stated pact of virginity.
At the end of the day, we all know the vow of the big 'V' is neither here nor there. Rather it's a steaming publicity turd the media have eagerly latched onto and an ever ravenous public, hungry for tantalising 'new comer celebrity gossip', have dined out on. More fool them. And double fool Perez for paying any attention to that old chestnut. Granted that Geyer is a reasonable looking bloke of average singing ability and even less than enthralling acting prowess, his publicists are loving you for the free promotion. Trust me.
Equally, the Origliasso mob family allegations would pique mild amusement if only they weren't so shambolic. Really folks, if you're going to point the finger, at least concoct a good old fashioned story to go with it. Perez's archives are ripe fodder for the imagination if you're experiencing a little writers' block.
Failing that, thumb through a copy of Mario Puzo's, The Godfather - I hear it contains a corker of a mob story. At the very worst, it might invigorate some of the language around here to a level beyond that of an illiterate, autistic grade schooler.
