Famed photog Annie Leibovitz says that the pictures she took of tween sensation Miley Cyrus for Vanity Fair have been 'misinterpreted'.
In a statement, Leibovitz says, "Miley and I looked at fashion photographs together, and we discussed the picture in that context before we shot it… The photograph is a simple, classic portrait, shot with very little makeup, and I think it is very beautiful.”
This "controversy" just isn't gonna die! (At least not until tomorrow.)

Does anyone besides me think this is actually a very shrewd, very smart attempt to transition Miley out of the tween idol set and into an actress/singer for the older crowd. As the tween set ages, they always backlashe fiercely against those they worshiped - think New Kids on the Block, The Backstreet Boys, etc…. As a long time friend of the photographer, I have been asked to weigh in on the controversy surrounding these photographs of Ms. Cyrus. There's absolutely nothing wrong with a young lady being photographed wearing very little while apparently sitting in a bed wrapped in exquisite sheets. She's not trying to give you a peek…she's just sitting upright. There's no reason why your daughters should think that since Ms. Cyrus, an entertainer, did this so should they.
