I heard the song a few days ago and was shocked that ANY record label thought it would be a good idea to release her stuff. It sounds HORRIBLE.
its different, and different doesnt mean it has to suck, everyone is stuck on mainstream pop (justin madonna)…but this was nice b/c it was different…she's already explained she not typical hollywood, she could have sold out like paris and firecrotch, but shes into that type of music…i found it refreshing after all the miley cyrus circus crap, the is lindsey on or off the wagon, who is paris's latest boyfriend…

I don't think the music video is that bad, but the song just has no substance to it!! OK– being able to sing about four notes in a low key does not make you a singer. She obviously has no range if her song has so few notes in it. She should stick to acting and being in Justin Timberlake videos.
OMG. Let me first say that I think Scarlett Johansson is one of the very best actresses in Hollywood today. That being said, she needs to keep her day job. The singing was incredibley bad. No words how bad her voice sounded. Secondly, the video…WOW…so bad, too. Did anyone notice that the 'story' in the video had NOTHING to do with the words/lyrics or the 'story' of actual song? I liked it, I think her voice is very different from most singers nowadays. And the song kind of reminded me of the 60's / 70's and also had that little mellowness Pink Floyd had.
I think everyone is being a little overly critical… First of all it's a cover of Tom Waits song and have you ever heard him sing!?!? Secondly, you have David Bowie doing backup vocals for her. I think It's great reminds me of Nico and the Velvet Underground personally. The video, well, it's eh….

i actually liked it–a lot. if you've ever heard tom waits (who's songs she's covering) they aren't vocally pleasing, his voice is actually pretty terrible, and hers isn't exactly lulling, but it works for the kind of music they make. she's not trying to sound like a pop singer. i feel like her music fits into the whole quirky indie category– like music that you would hear in a movie with jason schwartzman–incidentally, i love those movies so i guess it's fitting that i liked the song and the video. but, to each their own.

I was expecting it to be tragic. It's not bad at all. Clearly she has a "Shoegaze" sound. Hence the slow-mo feel to it.

Its actually really good. Unique and different, not everything has to sound like a club track. It is kind of melancholy but that makes it actually expressive and real unlike mass produced pop crap.
