The American Family Association (AFA) is 'taking action' AGAINST the committed gay couple, Luke and Noah, on CBS soap As The World Turns.
They don't want anymore of what they call 'repulsive' kissing between the two.
Yeah, well, we want MORE!
We must stand together to show our support for Luke and Noah and SHUT DOWN the AFA's campaign.
According to their site, the AFA "represents and stands for traditional family values" and believes "in holding accountable the companies which sponsor programs attacking traditional family values."
Here's an excerpt of the bigoted 'action alert' the AFA sent to members after Luke and Noah's latest kiss aired on the soap.
Procter & Gamble has resumed using explicit, open-mouth homosexual kissing in their soap opera, "As the World Turns." P&G decided to include this type of content as a commitment to "diversity." P&G stopped showing such scenes some months ago, but has now decided to again help promote the homosexual agenda which includes homosexual marriage.
Gay activists are hopeful that the P&G effort will desensitize viewers to the homosexual lifestyle and help make the unhealthy and immoral lifestyle more acceptable to society, especially to children and youth.

The dialogue on this post disgusts me. You people claim you see nothing wrong with being gay, yet you don't want to see them doing simple innocent things like holding hands or kissing. Basically, you don't want to see anything that openly proclaims them as gay! THere is much debate as to what the ORIGINAL texts of the Bible actually said, but I think it's safe to say that before hundreds of generations of translators played Telephone with it, there were no verses saying, "Homosexuality is an abomination."

The good old U S of A has one of the worst reps for homophobic legislation in the Western world, whereas most of Europe has imposed anti-hate crime laws that include sexual orientation. They also permit same-sex immigration, which the USA does not. With this in mind, gay people deserve and need to be represented in the media because they are still fighting for equal rights! This is all part of a plan, not to "shove the gay agenda down people's throats" but to attain the basic human rights we are entitled to.
allie, I did not say that I spoke for all straight people. However, I know for a fact that a majority of straight people can not stomach seeing openly displays of affection by gays. I was simply stating this to Perez so that he could be aware of this. Again, you obviously are very young and not married with children. I am, and this is probably one of the biggest reasons we have different perceptions of this subject. This is my opinion and I stand by it. I should be able to voice it just like you. For all the heterosexual people out there, who hate gay people, it is not good to disciminate people who are different from you. It is hard to think outside the box, because you don't know what its like being gay.
My 90-year-old grandma watches this show, and I talked to her last weekend and asked if she'd seen the kiss, and she was totally excited about it. She wasn't repulsed at all, she just started telling me all about the storyline. So if my 90-YEAR-OLD GRANDMA isn't outraged at two guys kissing on one of her soaps, PEOPLE SHOULD JUST GET OVER IT!

AFA is not just anti homosexual displays of affection on television it also is anti sensual commercials "former Carl's commercials" that depict woman as an object, and blunt disrespect of the crucifix on tv by Madonna. It is anti anything that is displayed on “public” channels during regular viewing hours. There was no action taken against Tila Tequila’s – A Shot at Love because it is on a cable channel. It is based on Christian believers with strong biblical practice and belief. It's not ignorance it's their belief.

I'm in support of as the world turns, i watch all my children and not only did they touch on a character coming out as a lesbian, they also had an actor portraying the struggle of being transgendered, this isn't about soap opera rating, this is about showing a positive approach on accepting and understanding othere no matter there gender or sexuality!

Children are home during the day with their mothers and I do not feel this is appropriate behavior for them to see. To some being gay is not a choice or a 'lifestyle issue', they were born gay. I suggest you read into the development of a baby in conception from 6-8 weeks where the female / male attributes of a baby are decided.

Why isn't the AFA going after soaps for all of the sexuality between the heterosexual couples too? I mean, if they're trying to up hold "traditional family values," then that means they should only support soap operas if they went back to the days of men and their wives having separate twin beds. IT really makes me angry.

I have been a fan of ATWT since I was little from my mom and Grandma watching it. I am a supporter of gay rights but I can understand why people would be uncomfortable seeing them express themselves… but the thing is if you don't want to watch it, then don't watch it. My mom found it EASIER to talk to me about sex, drugs and all that when i was watching the soaps with her because i would bring up questions and she could answer them. But thats just my mom and what was easier for her… and i think that if i didn't have such an open view to these topics when i was younger, i would be different today. BUT if you as a parent are not comfortable putting your kid in that situation watching a soap opera, then WATCH IT WHEN THEY GO TO BED… tape it, PVR it… whatever. No one is forcing you or your children to watch it. The times are changing… there used to be a point when they wouldn't even show a husband and wife sleeping in the same bed because it was too sexual, even if there was nothing sexual going on. They also wouldn't show woman's belly buttons because it was too suggestive… now your kids can open up any teeny-bopper magazine and see everything and more. I think it is awesome that a TV show, and some others, are finally moving with the times.
