Madge's 4 Minutes has become the second single ever to have digital sales exceeding one million units in five weeks. Rihanna's Umbrella was the first.
As of today, digital sales of 4 Minutes are l,004,482 units.

Mariah's music sucks. She sold out to be "R&B/Hip Hop" and all of her music sounds the same. She has an amazing voice (even though she looks like a fat Cowardly Lion) but wastes it by singing ghetto shit music. Madonna all the way in my opinion.
Madonna has sold over a million coppies of 4 minutes and Mariah is about 700,000. Madonn's 4 minites is number one all over the world. Can someone please tell me how that song got to #1 in the U.S and Madonna's did not. The U.S are not trend setters anymore and am dissapointed. Look at fashion, food, wine, music, vodka. The best are not in the U.S and this just goes to show in music we are not either for letting that garbage be at #1.

All of you HATERS need to get with the program. There was a lag on itunes, and Maddy's sales didn't show up until this afternoon. She's a #1 (deluxe version) and #9 (regular version) and #1 on Amazon.
Oh and the reason '4 Minutes' can't get to number one (according to Billboard, who actually KNOW what they are talking about) is that radio play is about 60% (or more) of the equasion. The fact that Maddy got to #3 on sales ALONE, pretty much says it all. Madonna sells music and Mariah BUYS airplay. That's how Mariah gets to #1. Billboard is so out of touch with how the music industry works these days. No one listens to radio, they listen to their ipods. They need to get with the program and put Madonna at #1 for her single, where she belongs. C'mon, Mariah whored herself out to American Idol (and her buddy Randy Jackson helped her plug her album).
Maddy doesn't need American Idol to get sales. She'll do it the good, old fashioned way, by EARNING it. Get over it HATERS, Madonna rules the world!

At the end of the day, Mariah is still the more respected artist (as a musician/songwriter/singer). Yes, Madonna is respected but more for being a performer. I know some of you will say Mariah's songs can be corny, but when Madonna rapped that "I take a Double Shot-ay, I drink a cafe latte…" you have to admit that was just pure silliness.

I think it's sad how many people attack Madonna for her age, like that matters at all. Everyone gets old, people! I am not a huge Madonna fan but Hard Candy is her best album in many years and I wouldn't be surprised if she has at least a couple of more big hits from it, which I'm sure will drive the haters on here absolutely crazy.

Madonna has sold more singles and albums than Mariah and she has more #1 Albums than Mariah (which is based on sales). The Emancipation Of Mimi did very well, but Madonna has still sold 250 Million records worldwide. Mariah is not even close!

Get your facts straight…When it comes to who has more money…
Mariah has about $200 million…while Madge has about $350 million…the sad part is that a big chunk of Mariah's money came from her settlement after being FIRED from her last record label after Glitter!! LOL Also, Madge will easily go up to having Half a BILLION dollars from her LiveNation Deal next year…so mariah will NEVER catch up to Madonna moneywise. Let's clear that up right now.
Also, 4 Minutes has definitively outsold Touch My Body in single sales OVERALL in the US and in the REST of the WORLD….and….YES, Mariah has fantastic AIRPLAY which is why she had another #1 song….but that doesn't mean anything…you could be #1 in airplay and #23 in sales and STILL be #1 on the HOT 100….all that means is that her record label has Clear Channel in their pocket…that's nothing new, it's all corporations…you're an idiot if you actually think that radio playlists are controlled by the people. Yes, you can request a song you HEAR to increase it's play in your area…BUT the shit they play for you has been preselected. If radio wasn't corporately owned neither Mariah NOR Madonna would be on the charts much, because ALL music, independent or not, would have an equal chance.
Also, Madonna's airplay doesn't match her sales because her label Warner Bros. has more diversified interests (movies, etc.) so they don't really buy into the whole "indirectly buying artists' initial airplay"…they let the public speak for themselves with their own MONEY!!! So as it stands now Mariah will make about $180,000 from "Touch My Body" alone, but Madonna will make atleast $300,000 from "4 Minutes".
Mariah gets her 18th #1?? GREAT! I like her too……I hope she gets 25 #1s and totally breaks the record because unfortunately for Mariah that's all she's gonna have. She's just a good singer/songwriter with not much else to offer….sorry to say but Mariah will NEVER be an icon like Elvis, Madonna, MJ, the Beatles, or even Marilyn Monroe…..so getting the most #1s is really the only way I see people remembering her in 60-70 years after she and madonna are dead. But this is also true of Celine and Whitney….neither of them will reach ICON status either…they will just be remembered as some women that used to sing really good.

Mariah has maybe two good songs on her album. What a surprise, it sounds exactly like every other album she comes out with. Madonna's album is amazing..every song is good and it is allready #1 all over the world. Mariah went to #1 in the U.S only. People don't care about her anywhere else. Madonna will sell more singles, albums, memorabilia worldwide. I also hope Mariah goes on tour again this year, so I can laugh when she can't sell out big venues and Madonna beats her last tour and has the highest grossing tour again. Mariah, you can loose all the waight you want, pay radio to play your music, re-release your album 5 times to get more sales, but you can never beat the Queen.
i love hard candy!!!!!!! this album rocks! people say she changed but not at all. if anything i think the album is ver old school madonna. it has an 80's/ club retro feel with a splash of some hip hop. it's a great dance record. to me it sounds like she is going back to her roots with her first album "madonna".
Face it, nothing memorable has really come out of this woman's body of work since the late 80's or early 90's. She was bad ass with attitude but she took it way too far and people got sick of it because the shock days were over in Hollywood. Yeah I get her personal life has changed and when that happens everything around you changes but her appeal is nothing like it used to be. She made it to the top and made a fortune so now she can record anything she wants and how she wants but the music is foregetable and vapid.
I admire her will to keep going but blah, I'm more interested in my own evolution and life than watching or listening to someone else's. She does get points for artistry, marketing, etc. and puts on one hell of a show. I've seen her in concert twice and her live shows put her CD's to shame.
She is a paradox in and of herself though. One interview she says she doesn't care what people think of her music or whether or not they like it then in the next she says she only wants to make music that people will listen to. Um conflict?
Mariah is surely pissed, probably because her single didn't stau longer at #1, not because od Madonna.
