Is it just me or does that have some Pink Flloyd sound mixed in with the U2?
Are you friggin kidding me man????wtf is this…..it sounds like every coldplay song just distorted electronically to make it hip and with an electric guitar in the back to make it sound more rock……this is shit AND PLZ PEREZ STOP UNLOWDING CRAP ON US.btw why is gwen a douche exactly?I know she can't act if her blonde poltergeist head depended on it but is that why you hate her?

I kind of like Coldplay's first album but I prefer Radiohead. Radiohead are far more brilliant. And anyway Chris Martin is such a pretentious moron. And him and his gawky bird/fish stick's wife is the most pretentious, self absorbed shallow and annoying actress on the planet. I wish she'd stay away the has been.
I have to say, Coldplay has been one of my favorite bands for years. I find their music as each album is released becomes less catchy and more thoughtful. This song is one that will become popular I'm sure, but it is a song that will take a few listens to - to really be able to enjoy it.

I must say I really hate Coldplay's website. I have never been able to get emails or download anything from them in years. I do what the tell me to do and I even clicked on the if you don't get this email. I did everything and still didn't get it. I have no idea why it never works for me but it never does. I know its not me because I just downloaded NIN's new single with no problem last week.

I dunno…this tune lacks the intensity that alot of other songs have. For example, lots of tunes on X&Y had me listening to the WHOLE song for that hook that sucked me in and slapped me in the face. This one, however, just bored me. Makes me nervous that this is the first one they are putting out. Does it get better?? I don't know. I just don't know.
actually this song isn't even that good. The guitar sound doesn't compliment Chris's girly voice. I expected it to be better.

Violet Hill sounds like every other song Coldplay sings because they are a band that doesn't take risks. They want the same sound all the time. at first it was a bit of a let down because if you listen to something like swallowed in the sea you think THATS PURE ART.
but it grew on me, the lyrics are so incredible… and the last part is amazing.
