For a show with so much buzz, practically no one is watching!
Monday night's episode of Gossip Girl scored a 1.9/3 Nielsen rating.
Translation: it sucked ass!
The show finished 5th place in its time slot (a pathetic finish to most industry experts).
What's going on?????

They need to stop taking breaks between episodes, I never know when it will be on!
Because it took them so long to put out new episodes. I love the show, but waited sooooooo long for the new ones, now I forget about watching it until the timeslot is already up!
I love love love this show!!!! I think people don't realize what time and channel since they switched it.
I love Gossip Girl! and so do all my friends! I don't understand why its getting such bad feedback because I've felt as if everyone has been raving about it.
I love the show but its on the same time as Greek and I watch Greek instead. Sometimes i'll switch to it during commericials, but i always miss everything. I went to watch it online, but its not online.
Maybe they shouldn't have switched nights!!! Go back to Wednesdays
because the CW sucks. they cant pick a show for anything. after they let VM go, i boycotted.
i love gossip girl! it just comes on at a sucky time for me. mondays are my most busy days so i have to find ways to watch it online. and they took it offline on the website so then they would get the ratings up…but that just makes me mad. they need to find a better time slot.
because it is on at the exact same time monday night (7pm) as GREEK, How I Met Your Mother, and The Bachelor. Those 4 shows are all competing for the same demographic. No one wants to compete against American Idol on Tues and Weds night so they all are on Monday and a lot of people don't have DVR or TIVO.
Because the show sucks and no one can relate to it in the real world.
They shouldn't have changed the night and time…I always forget its on and then I catch the last 20 minutes. They need to put it after top model again
perez.. i think that its not going so hott canada side bc CTV our network isn't carrying it anymore.. so how can we watch it and help the rating when its not airing??? i love it!!!!!

BECAUSE they stopped streaming episodes on CWTV.com, due to the fact that they werent getting high ratings to begin with, so in their infinite logic, they took the online episodes off. That sucks! I loved watching that show on MY time, online, and it serves them right to get shitty ratings.

I've read the books, and watch the show religously… i like the fact that the books are so much different from the show, it let me enjoy them each seperately. I think if it was on more channels it would get watched by more people. If i didn't have all the channels i do i wouldn't be able to watch it.. and that would make me sad. I love this show!
i love gossip girl but now they dont play it on ctv and seeing as i dont have the cw i cant watch it, which is soooo upsetting so there are probably other people in the same situation as me which could be partly why i guess
Its because it was off for so long because of the writers strike or whatever reason.. that now.. nobody is interested anymore.
i was obsessed with it. but i got sick of it never being on. and now that it is, i forget and just don't care.
Its not following the books properly, there are no ugly people to relate to.

i really like gossip girl, but the new time and day is HORRIBLE because monday is a night filled with other shows teenagers watch, so teenagers probably choose other shows. i, personally, watch another show since gossip girl shows reruns on sundays.

because it is NOTHING, nothing, nothing like the books. i LOVED the books and I am truly disappointed how stupid the show is in comparison! it's hard to look past that!

Serves the CW right - their choice of marketing was stupid. People are really starting to tire of sex being shoved down teenage throats. I wouldn't let my kids watch this if it was the last show on earth.
The one fault I can find with CW is that they are always changing the time schedules….I understand that a time slot is important…but geez pick one already!…Monday nite sux!
It's definitely the time slot. It's competing with so many other shows on Mondays now that have been on like Dancing with the Stars, The Hills, etc. It was easier on Wednesdays.

One reason is because some places dont get cw on basic cable so we cant watch it until it comes on their website at the end of the week. i have to watch it online. it sucks but vermont comcast got rid of its cw channel.
The show needs to switch to another station. Unfortunately where I am from no one watches the CW. The channel's number is mixed in between PBS and the quilting shows. I actually watched it for the first time this week and actually liked it. There were some "What the F" moments…for example high schoolers scheduling to do cocktails (fake Carrie B.), but I enjoyed the melodrama of it.
Maybe because they changed the nite its on.I love the show so i use the dvr untill later.
I think it just needs a better time slot! It has the hottest young cast on tv right now: chace crawford, ed westwick, penn badgeley, leighton meester, blake lively, talyor momsen, and even the parents are kinda hot! Everyone should watch it!

gossip girl isnt getting many viewers because its one hour earlier and on an awkward night…monday of all nights. which means that all the teeny-boppers who are avid fans of the show dont realize their beloved show is on until it's already half way into it…

I used to be obsessedddd with GG when it was on Wednesdays at 9. Then it just got too inconsistent, they randomly didnt have new episodes certain weeks, then I guess they stopped for a few months altogether bc of the writers strike? And now the timeslot SUCKS ASS! I really wish they would just move it back to Wednesday!!
I think a lot of people LOVE the show but for some reason they decided to only put it on like one channel that no one gets. CW i think? but the show is definatley NOT dead i happen to love it!

I loved the books and I love the show even more. I mean the only thing I can say the show needs is more publicity and a clear time and date its on.. Oh and more chuck and blair I loooove those two together! Viva la gossip girl!
Its simple:
1. The writers strike came at a seriously inconvinient time for new shows.
2. The time slot is not good for the demographic; e.g. Greek, The Hills, numerous similar shows play on the same night.
3. No full episodes online

because its on a random channel and people have grown so accustom to not watching tv since the writers strike because everything was a rerun for the longest time!
People are fickle and it's a pure substitute to previous shows that have been done before with better writing. These type of shows doesn't really promote anything but the worst. Let this show go and find something more worthwhile and less celebrity driven. Has anyone seen programs on National Geographic? Do yourself a favor and educate yourself because there's more to know beyond the celebrity gossip and latest designer handbags.

its because there hasn't been a lot of advertising about the new episodes first of all. second of all its because they took it off ctv and now noone knows what channel its on or they dont have it.

New York magazine was right gossip girl is theBEST SHOW EVER! Seriously its my fav show and more people need to watch it. Maybe a better time slot and more mainstream publicity would help! Bluck Forever!
they dont promote it enough! ever since they switched days i forget to watch it! i remember that oth is on but by that time its off.. and im actually starting to get into it again!
i love it…but sorry…when you move the time from 9pm to an 8pm slot you are going to lose viewers. men in trees moved 3 times before finding their perfect slot…thats all this cast needs to do…find a new time!
I love the show - not to many actual real shows on these days. I think people did not realize when it was on. Plus this year has been so whacky with the writer strikes - people just might now care about TV much right now.
i know some or a lot think GG sucks but a co-worker of mine got to watch and i was hooked i love this show and think its so enterainting and i love all characters and rolls thats they play its drama show what else did you expect?
I love Gossip Girl! It makes me sad to hear that it is not getting good ratings. But I agree that is on at a bad time. I have other shows I watch on Monday nights. I think it would do much better at it's original Wednesday time.

No idea when it's on. on the website it says it's on Monday nights on the CW network, but that's not a network available here, in eastern Canada. Sooo, thankfully I was able to stream it the next day online! But I want to be watching it to help with the ratings in any way I can!!! I LOVE it! anyone know when and what channel it's on here?

I watched the new episode but only because I happened to be flipping through the channels and it said NEXT: Gossip Girl! I thought it aired Wednesdays so I got lucky. The episode was GOOD. This season is gonna be JUICEAY!

Its stopped playing on FOX. CWTV has decided to make it its own… and all the people from my school who watched GG cant anymore cause NO ONE has the CWTV channel… well here in Quebec. But yeah, i still watch it but on the internet and i doubt that shows up in their viewer statistics
I've read ALL the books which are WAAAAAAAAAY better than the show. Infact, I don't even think the show should be called 'Gossip Girl' ’cause except for like 2 of the characters, nothing resmebles the books.

I DVR all my shows, and half my friends buy the show on iTunes. There is no way in hell that only 1.9 million people watched it…more like 5 times that in reality.

i still watch the show but i find it hard to watch sometimes since the show goes WAY off the books. some of these characters they're coming up with are ridiculous. i still think the guy who plays chuck is very sexy though.

I LOOOVE GOSSIP GIRL.. Its my favorite show and I'm 27 for crying outloud. I usually watch it online because Monday nights just don't work with my schedule. Maybe others are doing the same taking away from the TV ratings.
Because a pretty cast can't make up for bad writing and even worse acting. I know you love your boy Chace, Perez, but he brings out the Diane Weist n Bullets Over Broadway. "Shhhhh. Don't speak. Shhhhh."
I'm all for good trashy television, but this isn't even close to good and is just plain GARBAGE. Not to mention the CW threw ALL of it's promotion budget at this show and left other programs and their fans to promote for them. It's called serious backlash.
This is not the show that will be an anchor for the CW. Ever. In this time of recession watching rich teens fuck each other senseless and stab each other in the back, isn't entertaining. It's annoying and pathetic.
Gossip Girl has moved so many time slots and now CW took it off the web. They are trying to kill the show themselves. Think about their audience, 18-29 age group, most of those people are currently in finals or studying for exams. With today's society everyone's so busy they won't have time to actually sit down at 9 pm to watch a tv show. If it was online people could watch at their convience. They should put Gossip Girl online but maybe add more commercials so they can make the money back.

I think that parents are probab;y stepping in because of the racy ad's to promote the new season. with all these youngsters acting adult like–posing provocatively-having babies–i wouldn't let my kid watch(if I had one). Not to mention House is on Monday's now…..house rocks

i think its just a combination of alot of things:
1) it wasn't on for a good month, people almost forgot about it.
2) it is overrated, and sometimes stupid at times
3) it changed to monday on the same day as the hills, the age group of girls that usually watch it are about 16 give or take a few years, and most likely watch the hills also, changing it to monday was really stupid because it kind of conflicts with the hills, not time wise, but just yeah..maybe u kinda get what im saying
4)because its on monday i always forget to watch it
5) the time they brought it back was alot of peoples spring break and forgot to watch the coming back episode, which would now make them lost in the new episode
used to watch every week when it was on at 9pm but now that its on @ 8pm i miss it cuz of class ! Wish i could afford TIVO

I don't get why the CW doesn't play ANTM or Gossip Girl episodes on the site anymore…BIG MISTAKE! ANTM is my favorite show but I can't watch it bc let's face it, Wednesday is the new Thursday, & so, I'm too drunk on Wednesday to remember. Mondays are good for Gossip Girl but the problem is its 7 o'clock time slot. Screw lame ass shows like One Tree Hill, why isn't that cancelled, btw? Gossip Girl is an 8 o'clock show. No one knows wtf is going on at 7 to remember the show. Change it to 8 and put full episodes back on cwtv.com!

I think the reason why the ratings went down was because it is finals week for most colleges! I was in the library thats why i missed it
I'm from Sydney & no one here I talk to really knows about the show because it is exclusive to Foxtel. But from what I am told by the people who DO watch it there is barely any resemblance to the actual books.
