For a show with so much buzz, practically no one is watching!
Monday night's episode of Gossip Girl scored a 1.9/3 Nielsen rating.
Translation: it sucked ass!
The show finished 5th place in its time slot (a pathetic finish to most industry experts).
What's going on?????

There are already so many shows like it. I couldn't wait to watch it when it was being advertised…I turned it after the first 15 minutes (yawn).
because it switched days and now i find myself always missing it
I live in Canada and I haven't been able to watch the show because the only cable network who ever played it (CTV) stopped! The only other way is via satellite! I haven't satellite! So, now, I am reduced to prodding through google, trying to find a site that might have the show! It's incredibly frustrating.
I LOVE this show!! I was watching and everyone else should too!!!

1. It hasn't been on any canadian channels for me
2. They changed it a lot from the book
3. Nate and Blair should get back together
4. Vanessa is nothing like she was in the book and shouldn't be with Nate
I love it, and I think its getting more exciting but we'll see…
one of the main reasons might be the fact that the show is not being broadcast since returning on tv in canada. the show used to be on ctv but now it doesnt show anything. i wish that they would broadcast the show in canada
Gossip girl has got to be the best show on t.v right now. As a 17 year old theres not that much to watch that you can relate too. After to oc ogt canceled Gossip Girl is by far the only thing out there. theres either disney or mtv and after watching reality shows like the rock of love they get old. Gosip Girl is something i tryly enjoy watching and know so many other people who watch as well. personally i would love to know how they get these ratings because i dont see how they could be truly accurate. GOSSIP GIRL IS AMAZING.
probalby becaused they moved it to monday nights and people think its still on wendsdays….or they dont know that it has started again??
i think in Canada no one is watching because it's not on the local channel anymore. now it's on some random channel that you would only get if you ordered it. i was a fan and a lot of my friends watched it too, but i don't think i get that channel so obviously my friends probably don't get it either. i wonder who they gave the slot to? probably some brutal reality show
I think it's getting low rating is because there's less bitchy-ness from BLAIR WALDORF which we love and less Dan making out ahha and less chuck and how he talks and parties.
Gossip Girl is going to fail, because the network sucks. Plus they just pulled online streaming so those of us who cant always make it to the tv are screwed. Way to ruin a great thing CW.

8pm on Monday night is a shitty time for the show… they should put it on at 9….
I love the show, we all talk about it at work the next day. I am talking about quite a few of us( guys and girls from 23 yrs old to 47 years old). I just forgot to watch it this week because I didn't know when it was on. This is all because of that writers strike. Please don't cancel it. Me and my 2 teens don't miss a show.

I like the show but the show is screwed up
Nothing like the book. Jenny suppose to be big chested and brunette. Dan and Serena were a fling in beginning. Serena had an older brother in college. Nate supposed to be a stoner. Vanessa was very artsy and baled and she and Dan were a couple. Then comes with the parents relationships on the show are wtf. And who the hell is Georgina.
Also Blair and Serena were kind of a like with being shallow and bitchy in ways.
The main problem is monday is hard to keep up to watch with other shows and it really early, most people are just getting home. Like i used to watch it online because i wouldn't be home at the time.
The sex publicity OMFG was not needed, if they wrote it like the book in ways i think it would be more interesting.
It just how they're using the show
personally, I think the time slot sucks. I can only speak for myself when I say sometimes I don't get home until 7:30! I don't know why they would put it on so early especially since the content isn't so PG13
I think its suppose to apply to the highschool 20 something age audience and I dont think anyone can relate to it…you like shows you can relate too…they act stupid on the show and it annoys me…i watched it when it was on wed's only cuz ANTM was on before it…but than they changed the night and…i love drama dont get me wrong but there dramas just like too much…idk whatever

Well, I know it doesn't come on the same night or the same time anymore. I don't know what time it comes on or what night. I have not seen any adds for it on TV??? As much buzz as it's getting I don't think they did enough TV commercials for it. reading below i see it comes on Monday nights… too many other funny shows come on monday night!!! how i met your mother, the big band theory, two and half men… all funny and better than gossip girl.
because…it's NOTHING like the books!!! The show is just so wrong! The characters are wrong! the story is wrong!

i think the commercials are too raunchy and the teenage girls that want to watch dont want to watch it with their parents over their shoulders. They are making a mistake not putting it online. Then the girls could watch it on their laptops in their rooms. Also, it is almost too much of a guilty pleasure for women over 15.

It's bc it is against Dancing with the Stars. We all know we can see gossip girl on reruns. Bad idea for them to stop streaming it online too. It needs a new time slot.

I watch it, but not on a regular basis because I actually read the whole book series more than once and unfortunately the show does not follow the book. For me that was a letdown, how much they changed it….it stood out on it's own before it went toally awry.

The whole writer's strike really screwed up the timing for people watching the show..people probably don't even know it started back up again. Plus, I think most people are just watching it online the way everyone watches TV now. I don't even pay for cable cause I just watch my shows online..which is great cause I'm really into Greek as well and they're on at the same time!!
I love the changes they made to the characters…they're so much more fun and not as pathetic as the book characters were…would you really want Jenny to be such a loser and for Vanessa to have a shaved head and for Dan to never be with Serena but just write lame poems and smoke all day??? It's SO much better for TV this way!!
The O.C, The Hills, Lauguna Beach….. Gossip Girl is just the next in a string of similar shows.. except we're tired of the story because we've already heard it..

I love the show, and I did watch Monday's episode. I thought it was pretty good for the pilot of a new season; not many shows can have a new episode after being on hiatus so long and still pack it with some punch.
The show will probably attract more viewers come the next few eppies. Moreover, how can anyone stop watching a show with such gorgeous women and delicious guys, huh?

Gossip Girl is still watched, just not at its scheduled time as frequently as other popular shows. The Nielsen rating doesn't account for how often it's downloaded online, off of itunes, tivo-ed, taped, etc. The show stays in the top 10 for weeks when sold on iTunes, so the fact that people aren't always watching it at its scheduled time doesn't mean its not being watched. Yay for Gossip Girl!

Well I moved to Fort McMurray and can't seem to find it anywhere on tv, can someone plz tell me the channel it comes on and the time??? I miss it! lol
the book is soooooo much betta!!!!!!they cut together all the interesting parts ruined them and put them in the first episode!!!vanessa was so cool in the book and blair is dressed like shit…..the show is soooo average…….i don´t see any difference between all those strange american shows,it´s always the same…..and the book is really STUNNING…..rufus and dan and jenny are supercool in the book and in the series….blah blah blah…so typical…..nates and serenas first time was so romantic and charming……….and in the series not special at all………but maybe we europeans just don´t get you……
Simple for me, im canadian and we dont have it. But even more simple, is that many people choose to watch tv online..so much easier…
Plus, why watch the show when Chuck (Ed Westwick) isnt on?

I don't know why the hell the show isn't picking up ratings, people watch it. Without online downloads counting towards the ratings, they've stopped posting the episodes online, but that obviously hasn't helped much.
I personally find the day and time to be difficult, as with a lot of people I know. It was more convenient on Wednesdays at a later time. Now it just sucks.
I hope Gossip Girl doesn't die off. It's a good show, and a mystery why people aren't watching. =S
because all sex and no story line doesn't a good show make.

because the scripts have been really terrible recently, the plot lines have become ridiculous and the problems are resolved too quickly…it's like the OC all over again…they've already run out of stuff to write about–i mean serena killed somebody? that's just crap!
i thought it was awesome !! even if it is different than the books, i still think its a great show.
people are too lazy to watch TV nowadays…they like to watch it on the internet because they can watch it over and over again…Like me…haha
