For a show with so much buzz, practically no one is watching!
Monday night's episode of Gossip Girl scored a 1.9/3 Nielsen rating.
Translation: it sucked ass!
The show finished 5th place in its time slot (a pathetic finish to most industry experts).
What's going on?????

I liked it better on Wednesdays. I forget to watch it on Mondays…
I'm a huge fan of gossip girl. I love chuck and Blair. Nate is hot. Ive seen all the episodes. I watch online if I miss it. Anyway during reruns I didn't watch cause duh ive seen them. If I want to I can watch it online too. After the writers strike and with the new time slot (its been 2 episodes already) I haven't been able to watch it on TV cause i guess I was used to the old timeslot and ive been forgetting that's its on Monday at 8pm. I usually watch at 9pm as with other shows on other days. I guess that's the best time cause people are done with homework, eating dinner, etc. So yea basically its cuz I forget on Mondays and I usually watch at 8. Mind you, I'm a huge fan yet I still miss the show. Ill get used to it I guess.
The show is really good, but the day and time are wrong.
I always forget until right before the start of the show.
1- they changed the night to mon. from wed.
2- they went on that huge hiatus
3- they stopped streaming the show online, so now if you miss one episode then you are completly lost and loose intrest.
I used to watch gossip girl but they put it against bones and I like bones better.
Because it is no longer on Wednesdays. It has to compete with other guilty pleasure shows such as The Hill and Greek. Also, the online thing. I admit this is a guilty pleasure show for me and I just dont have the time to sit down on a Monday night and really focus. I have a family and a home to take of.
Because they changed the night and time. I loved that show but haven't been able to watch since the change. Shows do better that are on tuesday through thursday.
As a writer, I would say the writers are the problem. There is no plot. What is the point of this show? The storyline is inconsistent. One episode S and B do such horrible things to each other (that in real life they would never forgive each other for) and the next episode they are hanging out as best friends again….please.
There needs to be a slower progression, a climatic build to gain anticipation, and a plot thats continuous. It's fake, over-dramatic, and unbelievable with a horrible plot..or should I say no plot.
The characters are chickens running around with their heads cut off. They don't have a clue whats going on….and neither does the audience.
I hate this show….I watched it ONE TIME - and I thought I was going to go crazy.
1. The blonde girl talks like a man and out of the side of her mouth.
2. The story line's are hideous.
Thank god they are bringing back 90210. I hope that they don't hire bad actors like the OC and Gossip girl. What happened to GOOD TV?
I'm live in Canada, and the new episodes have only been airing on the CW up here, which you can only gain access to if you purchase a specialty tv channel package. The show used to air on the national cable channel CTV, but it doens't seem to be anymore. I've still been able to watch though, as I willfind the episode on some website after the show has aired. A lot of my friends are watching it online as well.
Maybe because every other show is on Monday nights now. Come on TV Execs - why would you want to put all your good shows all on one night?
My DVR is on blast monday nights… it really sucks. I lose out on a lot of really great shows b/c I can only watch ONE at a time and my DVR will only tape TWO at a time in which I am forced to watch one of the channels.
Put it back on Weds, PLEASE
Beacuse the time slot is inconvienient. No one can watch it from 8-9. If they put the episodes back on the internet following the show, more people would be able to watch the show.
i think the strike really hurt the show. two months is just long enough to forget a show

Nobody watches because their parents probably won't allow them to.
Try moving the show to a later time. It comes on at 7 pm CST.. That means most of college age and young 20 somethings in middle America are either still at work or at the gym (or doing things that cause them to not be in front of the t.v. yet).. CW get a clue.. The time is too early!
I loved the books but hate the show. They strayed way too far from the original story line.

I love this Show!! I think being on the CW - it doesn't pick up much steam. Although other programming on the CW does well, I think Gossip Girl would do so much better on a MAJOR Network like ABC, FOX, NBC….

People probably don't realize it is back on after the writers strike. The show also changed the day of the week it is on. I love that show. It was so good on Monday!
i know noone watched it because here in canada,montreal alot of people dont have cw and it was showing on ctv and it stopped, so ppl dont know what going on so they stop watching
Parents won't let their kids watch it.
who knows the real reasons everyone isn't watching but i know mine. it happens to be on the same night as both greek and one tree hill. not to mention if everyone that watches it is in college they are preparing (or should be) for a little something called FINALS. Its a good show and all but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. maybe they could change the night is on???
Might have to do with the advertisement they went with. Younger viewers might have not been aloud to watch if parents saw the techniques advertisements were using. I watched haha but the young kids might not be

With the economy under a cloud of crap the last thing the average viewer wants to see is a bunch of over priviledged kids dealing with their drama, of course unless it is reality tv, then it's okay (see The Hills).
I LOVE this show!!! They can't cancel it! PEREZ YOU HAVE A LOT OF POWER WITH MEDIA AND THE AUDIENCE AND YOU LIKE THE SHOW SO PLEASE DO SOMETHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I LOOOOOOVE the show! I was a big fan of the books and yah there are a lot of differences BUT I still love the show! I think the problem is the timeslot. I liked it on wednesdays afters ANTM but they put that stupid effing "girlicious" on there! Save gossip girl!
They never should have changed their time slot to Monday night… I watch Monday nights episode when they rerun it on Sunday…

then i dont like Serena acting so naive, innocent and pure! she is not like that! she is a sexy party girl! and that is cool! she must be that wild Serena she was and we all loved.
and talking about relationships Blair and Nate should be back together but Chuck must have an affair with Blair and be his lover even if she is with Nate!
and Dan and Serena are so much boring together! they need something more fun more wild!

I didn't even know it was back on!!! I can't believe I missed it! Its probably because nobody watches the channel GG usually plays on except to watch GG so nobody knew! They need to do some advertising on other channels/internet!
Personally I watched it, It's a great show, but only for people who have read the book or fallowedthe season so far. Great episode, can't wait till next week:D

The show isn't doing well because it's on the CW. No one watches the CW.
It needs to be in a different time slot. I love the show but even I have to download it because I can't see it when its on tv. Monday night is the WORST night for anything competeing with DWTS. And I don't even watch that. I just cant watch anything with work. My three favorite shows (OTH and How I Met Your Mother) all the night I cant watch tv.

If you're a fan of the books like I was when I was in high school, after watching the show it's just not the same. The books are very good and very well written and the show takes key details and charaters that were in the books and completely leaves them out. I know the sow is "based" on the book, but true fans of the books don't really like the show. As far as writing style the book is ON POINT , the poor script writing on the show is not a true to that of the book. The book had such a fan base and when you change it as much as they have for the show people that read the book are just not gonna like it.
Re: Canadian Girl – actually you can have it in canada i'm from quebec and i watch it ask you're cable compagnie if they have the cw channel with videotron(my cable compagnie)i pay 6$ a month for the channel
It needs to change the day when you see Jason dance in Dancing with the stars nothing else matters.
Its the time slot…. i Tivo 2 other shows over Gossip Girl … but i catch the repeat on Sunday nights. ;0)
Lets see a show about a bunch of spoiled over privliged rich kids in manhanttan society. Gee why wouldn't I want to watch that? At least One Tree Hill has a story line worth people's attention.

I believe that it has to do with the station it's on. We don't have access to The Cw where I am located, unless you have satellite…..and I can't justify paying hundreds of dollars just for one channel. I would rather save my money and dl the shows that I am unable to watch on tv.

It's because even though they've stopped streaming a lot of people still watch it online, either through other websites or just by downloading it.
Also, I guess a lot of people don't know the channel it's on.

Part of the problem is the CW network….it is not available in many areas and therefore we don't even have the option to watch the show!
I love Gossip Girl but I'm in Singapore and we don't have it here, so I watch it online.
It's because there are too many shows there are 5 great shows on in the 7-8 time slot that I want to watch. it's competing with big time shows like bones and how I met your mother. Plus another teen targeted show greek. It can't get the love it deserves with so many other great shows running at the same time.
I was a fan at first..but compared to One Tree Hill…Gossip Girl Sucks!! Most of the acting is horrible. It reminds me of a bad day time soap!!
There are two reasons why this show is doing terrible and they are that no one knows when it's on and it is nothing like the books which surprisingly many people read. I read the books and the show is painful to watch because there is noooooo similarity!

Because The CW doesnt market the show well, well they dont market any show they have well. The O.C. had more ppl watching is last sucky season. i Think CBS (its sister network) should air re-runs a couple of times. and maybe MTV sometimes. i feel bad for the show, its great and all the actors are great its really the network. and thats how i feel about alot of shows that have shit ratings or that have been canceled, its all because of the Network.
8 pm on monday night is a rough sell for an hour long drama. i usually end up DVRing it. pushing back to 9 would be so much better!

The demographic the show is aiming for watches "TV" on the internet and unfortunately, Mr. Neilson is behind the curve. Welcome to the 21st century, bitches. The internet is changng the way we do everything, fom music to movies and TV is no exception.
AND since CW took the show off their website to boost Neilson ratings and pissed off loyal online viewers, everybody, including me, just watches it illegally on another site. So yeah, they will probably cancel it and it will be a shame because it's a FUCKING AWESOME show and it's not Gossip Girl's fault that Neilson and CW are old and out of touch.

This is news to me. I was watching it… and there's a whole fan club on facebook with about 40,000 people who talk about it after it airs every Monday… and that's just the people on facebook that know about the group.
It's a very addictive show. Maybe people aren't aware that it changed to Monday nights as opposed to Wednesdays?
Well in Canada, Gossip girl was airing on CTV. But they wont broadcast it anymore and its hard to have the CW network and if you find it it will cost you a fortune to own it!! I hate the CW!!! We dont have it in Quebec!!!!!
Its such a good show people just don't know too much about it! It needs a little more publicity and a better time slot otherwise it has everything: sex (not as much that much to wear its too much), hot young cast, great storylines, scandal, gossip, and much much more!

I like the show, but I don't L-O-V-E the show. Right now I'm a little disenchanted by the show's actors and actresses (e.g., stories about how Leighton Meester is about as bitchy as her character) and not too pleased about the way it's been hyped (e.g., OMFG). I don't particularly love or identify with any of the characters (not anywhere close to how I love the characters on Friday Night Lights for example). The GG characters still seem two dimensional to me and most of the time, I'm wrinkling my nose at their world.
It ended to abruptly last year mainly because of the writing strike. The writing strike pretty caused a majority of people like myself to not watch any television really. So now that its back its whatever. Not to be mean but the writers strike stopped me from wanting to watch any television.
It's because it's on a bad night at a bad time AND it's no longer able to be viewed online. That sucks.

because everyone, including me, watches it online. nielsen ratings are outdated since they only track who tunes in on television, alienating the average teenager/college student who watches all their shows online on their schedule
