Monday night's episode of Gossip Girl scored a 1.9/3 Nielsen rating.
Translation: it sucked ass!
The show finished 5th place in its time slot (a pathetic finish to most industry experts).
What's going on?????

The Neilson ratings don't take DVR into account. They only count people who watch the show live and who watches live tv anymore?
It's finals, and college kids like myself are studying and can only watch it recorded at a later time.
I live in canada and they stopped showing it here. Im sure more people would watch if it came up here. I loved Gossip Girl!
Because I'm never home at 8pm on ANY given night, I used to watch it online, and the CW's bigwigs decided to take it off. dumb asses
bring it back to wednesday…
I love the show and watch it every week! I think it's very entertaining. You can watch the episodes the next day if you miss them at 3flicks.com!

I LOVE GG!!!… i always watch!!! but honestly, they moved the time slot from last season AND its FINALS week!!!!! I record the show and watch it later!
i watch gossip girl! i just don't watch it on tv since the time doesn't work out for me. i think a lot of people watch it on the internet too… until they decided not to stream it on the CW website. too bad. now i either have to miss an episode here and there or d/l it. they should stream it on the internet and find a way to track viewer-ship on the internet.

The show is really good but they changed it from a wednesday night to a monday night….me being in high school, where most of the viewers are, knows that monday tends to be the biggest hw night and the start of the new school week so on monday I had no time to watch it and had to record it…
it's NOTHING like the books!!!! Thats why!
I watched it but, others may not be because of that racy ad that's out. A lot of the viewers are probably younger so their parents may have seen the ad and not allowed them to watch. Or those who wanted to watch it because they liked the books may be disappointed in the show because it's going so far from the books so they may have chose not to watch it anymore.
soooo many people watch this show online, including myself. no one is tracking how many people actually have watched the episode in the last 24 hours….. and if they were still showing it on their website, they might have a more accurate count of how many people were really watching.
It's just so boring right now, maybe make some storyline on the show that would be a little more interesting.
Please, YOU have to watch it!!! I'm from Spain and I can't watch it on tv… but I do watch it on line! I LOVE it!
they have changed its day and put it up against "how i met your mother" and "the big bang theory"

I watched it, but almost all my favorite shows are on monday night. Greek, Samanthat Who?, House, One Tree Hill. I wish Gossip would go back to Wednesday. Mondays are busy days in general.
First of all, they can't just stop the show mid-season and expect it to have the same popularity it did 4 months ago. Also, the network sucks and they changed it from mondays to wednesdays

obviously the show can't be like the books because it is an ongoing process which needs continuing storylines and drama….DUH.
Because they switched nights. Whenever they switch a show to different night it thuds.
i really like gossip girl, but i kinda have lost interest and would rather watch "bones" and "how i met your mother"- it's on what has become a very competitive night and i think people are just choosing other things.
the time slot is bad. 8 is too early. it should be on at at least 9 or maybe even 10

I LOVE this show, I hope it doesn't get canceled. It threw me off that it was on Mondays too, not to mention I forget that new things are on now because I have been watching nothing but reality tv since that writers' strike!
The ratings suck because CTV HAS STOPPED SHOWING GG IN CANADA! They no longer have a time slot for the show, but I'm sure the Canadians who were watching the show before the strike are definitley not ready to replace it with dry, second-hand episodes of lame-ass Degrassi.
i love gossip girl, show and books, and its mostly that they switched the time and day its on DURING the writers strike so like no one even noticed

It is on too early! Most people in the age group who would watch it are busy on a Monday night at 7pm. They need to either put it on a different night or at a later time.

What are they talking about, i loved it. I watch it every monday.
they are so far off course from the books that its almost painful to watch. the books were so unbelievably good that it would have been impossible for the show to do them justice or to improve upon them. The show could only have made it worse…which it did.

The reason why so many people don't watch it on T.V. is that there parents won't let them. I am a junior in high school and even at 17, I know girls who's parents have banned them from watching the show.
Prob because parents are completely turned off by all of the racy ads and are making sure their kids aren't watching it.

It needs to come on later people my age, who are the demograhpic, are usually at work till at least 9 and Gossip Girl comes on at 8! And it needs to go back to wednesday i have no idea why they changed it to monday!

The shows first season was really good and i was really excited to watch this season. But this season started out really boring. I thought it was gonna be a better season premiere. But i watched it on monday and it looks like the dramas finally starting to kick in. So hopefully it get better from here on out.

Actors suck, storyline doesn't exist and hard to tell when it's on. Alot of marketing, but it didn't contain important info.

most like all things that come after the book its too different, for one serena sucks balls she still was wild and fun in the book, blair shouldn't dress like a grandma and jenny was an uggo with big boobs basically they could have done a lot better if they actually abided by the book
Probably a combo of the strike + a night change…maybe it fell off people's radar? It's been pretty awesome the last two weeks…I do agree that it needs to be on a different network. The CW sucks.
Simple! Because 1. it changed to MONDAY(??) nights right before reruns and 2. it was off the air for so long that people have forgotten about it! And its finals for all the people who watch it (high school and college) and during the summer who is going to stay home at night to watch tv? I'm not thats for sure!

i refuse to watch this show. it is so untrue to the books it isn't even funny. maybe that is why its dead??? it doesn't make sense to those who have read and love the books. like who is georgina? she was never in any of the books, and chuck and serena were never step-siblings. the shows writers have really taken their rights to the show and ran with them. i can't believe Cecily von Ziegsar let her books go to crap.
Honestly, because its not shocking. Im a high school student and there really isnt anything too new on this show that I havent seen. Its beyond predictable and Blake Lively is a horrible actress. Theres no mystery. Its obvious "S" was a whorish junkie, who cares!
Because they now put the majority of the decent shows on Monday nights. You can only record and watch so many at once. They should spread the good shows throughout the week.

its on at the same time as GREEK which is on ABC Family (it supposedly gets very good ratings over 1 million viewers , whick is great for that channel!), The Big Bang theory and How I met Your Mother are on CBS at the same time lots of people what that, and HOUSE is on Fox and people watch that! i personally watch Greek and i love that show!!!!

its on CW and up against GREEK a show every college kid i know watches and the hills in the same night, im not sure what time it is even on? didnt even know it was on last night before u posted about it

i love gossip girl. i think its a great show with amazing actors in it, and the plot is fantastic.
BECAUSE ITS SHIT!!!!! i live in the uk and couldnt watch any more after 2 episodes, for all you americans get your hands on skins season 1 and 2 now thats a series.

it's a great show! i love it! however, i dont get that channel. and i've noticed that quite a number of people don't get it.
they need to put it back online! i understand their concerns about losing viewers by having it online. they should let online views count too, that way everyone would have access to the show, and they wouldn't lose anything!
I didn't even realize they had switched the day it was on. So I've been forgetting about it! Which sucks. I need to program it into my TiVo. I think a lot of people figure they'll just watch it online, like I did, but the station isn't going to be putting up the episode's anymore. You can only watch them on TV.

its cuz they used to put it on ctv abd the cw, although ctv isn't playing it, and only the cw has it on. the only way atleast here in canada can watch the cw is if the have digital tv. not everyone has that. also you take that long to get back on u lose ppl, and i wouldnt doubt ppl dont know its on. werent to many things sayign gg returns. im liking these episodes.
Last night's show was terrible — the show has been going downhill lately so no wonder fewer people are watching. They need to get rid of Georgina immediately (um, Days of our Lives much?) and the whole Nate slumming it is so 90210.

i know alot of people just buy the episodes off itunes or watch it on the website for free, because for some reason some cities don't even get theCW…no clue why…where i live we used to get it, and then all of a sudden it was gone….and i live in a city too, so its not like it was just a small town thing

At first I did not know when it came on until I watched on Sunday night. I think Monday night at 8 is a sucky time slot. It used to be on Tuesdays at 9pm. I think that is a better time. They better not cancel that show. It is getting too good!
