To Mariposa, you do NOT have to have a SSN to get aid. Why don't you get the facts. I live in NM a the only people who qualify for Medicaid (free health insurance) are children, pregnant women, an ILLEGALS!!!! Come live in a border town and watch them come across the desert and the river like roaches! Deort them all!!!!!!!!
I don't see how they portrayed a "falsehood"…illegal immigrants DO cost taxpayers lots of money yearly. Just because it doesn't pander to immigrant groups, does not mean it's "false". and the Immigration system is only "broken" in the fact that we aren't doing enough to stem illegal immigration. It isn't fair that these mothers are literally running the border during childbirth to take advantage of the US system. Frankly, illegal immigrants do not deserve a voice on their "rights" they don't have any.

I agree with the CBS report. And I think the mother should be a legal resident too in order for her child to be considered a citizen. Or at least, she should be married and her husband a legal citizen. Latinos have for far too long taken advantage of the the law as it now stands (a child born in the US is a citizen) and the law should be changed. This is why we have the illegal immigrant population bursting out of control. They come over here and have as many kids as they can and bleed the public resources dry without contributing back. Because they've done it for so long, it's basically impossible to try to ship them all back, and on top of that there's the dilemma as to what to do with the kids. I say they should go back too. The law needs to be repelled, overturned or amended!!!

I think you're the one that needs to get your facts straight. 380,000 babies were born in the U.S. in 2007 to illegal immigrants, and to deliver each of those babies it cost $8,000 to $12,000. If you take the lowest cost estimate ($8,000) and multiply that by the number of births (380,000) it cost U.S. hospitals & citizens $3 billion dollars to pay for the "free" health care these illegals received.
When U.S. citizens are unable to pay for health insurance and cannot receive medical care for serious illnesses… cancer, heart disease, diabetes, etc… it's disgusting to think that illegal freeloaders crossed into this country and received $3 billion dollars worth of health care without paying a dime.

I am so sick of this. I don't know why this country claims to give help to all in need, and back slaps us anytime anyone asks for it. You know Mexicans aren't the only illegal immigrants in this country. I know of many Europeans, Chinese, Indians, Russians etc. that are illegal in this country, and have had children here. Why is no one talking about them? Why do you have to demonize us? We are human beings people.
You know… It really hurts when someone tells you they won't seat you because of the color of your skin. When I was a little girl, I remember reading signs on stores that read, " No blacks, mexicans, or dogs." I didn't know that meant me, but it was made very apparent when an angry white man came out of the store throwing things at us. Just admit it. It's all a bunch of racism. I don't hear them talking about the illegal Europeans that come here. They are just being rascist! I hate this country. It has brought me nothing but grief. The Latino pride movement has unfortunately become the Latino entitlement movement. I don't think the majority of Americans would have a problem so much if the illegals came to the table and agreed to a certain set of rules to get them on the path of citizenship. But nowadays it's as if they don't care to try to work with our system and they continue to come over illegally, commit crimes and kill our public assistance system. These are tough times for everyone. Millions of AMERICANS are without healthcare and can't even receive the services that the illegal immigrants do. We are having a hard enough time as it is ourselves, and it is just a shame that the illegals come over here and demand all these rights and services when they broke the law. They should be punished accordingly just as any other person who breaks the law. They should be sent back along with their children, regardless if the children were born here or not. If the parents aren't legal citizens, the children shouldn't be either.
For all you readers who are posting stuff about coming here legally, why don't you research how long it takes a person coming from a poor country in Latin America to get a green card. It takes longer than a Canadien or any other person from Europe. Its plain and simple, you think if people could just pay and come here legally they wouldn't. Yeah my idea of a good time is crossing the desert for 4 days, possibly being raped, killed, or robbed. Or traveling in ship containers for days… So appealing. We are so spoiled in this country! There are positives and negatives to illegal immigration. You're exactly right. They do have to have a SSN to get state assistance, but NOT federal assistance. I'm a nurse at a county hospital, and what they have done to our budget is terrible. The mothers have new babies every year so that they can continue to get WIC, Food Stamps, well baby care and all types of other public assistance. It's the BABIES who need a SSN in order for the mother to qualify for public assistance, and this is why they keep having so many. The mothers don't work, they get to have the luxury to sit at home with each other and raise their children while the men go to work. I would love to be able to stay at home with my kids, but guess what I have to work for a living so that we can be able to take care of our family, which is what they should be doing. Instead, they live 2-3 families per household and receive all the food stamps and medical care they can get their hands on. This needs to stop!

The hospital I was born in closed due to the beaners poopin out kids like rabbits and not paying. Now they are going to the next closest and the same thing will probaly happen. They also show up from drunken fights, accidents etc. Warm up the bus, give them a movie, some peanuts and some corona and ship em home to their real home which they are soooo proud of but ran here becasue it was a shithole and in their countries there is no welfare or liberals to give them freebies. I totally agree with the story, fuck political correctness. Immigration, legal or otherwise, is out of control. A few years ago, I saw this documentary on a maternity ward in Arizona. There were several stories of Mexicans crossing the border to give birth here. One young couple, who couldn't speak a word of english, had a baby with Downs Syndrome. We are supposed to pay for all this!

Other than the fact that they didn't specify exactly how much of the $200,000,000 was spent on care for illegals, this article is spot on. However, given the fact that it's a hospital in south Texas, I'd be willing to wager MOST of it was spent on illegals.

I work in the government system, as I can tell you that I see a Wide variety of people coming in for services. They are all ethnicities! Now, I'm not a racist or anything, but, since I deal with this type of environment everyday, I have a good say in this. The blacks seem lazy and stupid. The hispanics seem hardworking but ignorant. The whites seem sloth and drug addicts. The asians seem vain and bad hygiene. Now, do you fucking work for the government bitches? No, I highly doubt it, since you are on here. The U.S. has to do something about illegal immigration. I too know of many hispanics who come to this country only to have their babies, to reap the benefits of the U.S. system. The laws must be change so that the child must have at least one legal parent to be recognized as an natural born citizen. Or else "Anchor Babies" will continue.
