Our favorite Canadian, April Lavigne, wants to speak to her fans from the heart.
The singer and "songwriter" just posted the following on her official blog.
She says:
"Hey Guys,
I am at home right now taking it easy. I have been sick this whole tour, and now I have lost my voice. I have never canceled a show in my whole career and just had to for the first time ever. This sux!
I am so sorry! I have been on the road for 60 days straight. I have had the flu 3 times and I never get sick, it just keeps going around. I think I am just run down. I just played 4 shows in a row in Texas (which is a lot for the vocals) and woke up in Vegas Tuesday with no voice. I thought I was gonna have to cancel that show, but I made it through…..barely! I still went on stage in Vegas and gave it my all, but unfortunately its interfering with my throat now. I had to eliminate songs.
I woke up yesterday and knew I wouldn't be able to sing last night. My voice is so shot. We drove home yesterday and I went to my throat doctor. He stuck a camera down my throat….ewwww, I gagged!!! It was kinda funny though…..he said I have "Acute Laryngitis".
So, um, yeah, that sux. I was supposed to play a show in San Diego yesterday and was supposed to perform on Jay Leno tomorrow and go live with Ryan Seacrest in the today, but I had to cancel that too. I'm at home resting my voice for 2 days and hope to be back out soon. Thank you for understanding. And once again, I sincerely apologize.

When Perez was thinner and more twinky, and Avril was not blonde and not fixated on living the Los Angeles lifestyle, the two were actually friends. (Well, "friends" in the sho-bidness sense of the term, but there are photos on the Web showing them being all pal-ly together.) But for some reason they had a falling out. I saw Avril in Vegas on the 29th, and you could tell she was having voice problems, but she did great regardless. It is not an EXCUSE. it is definitly for real. And as for the ticket sales, The Pearl was just about sold out. Quit being such a dumbass. Not everyone is a liar like Perez Hilton.

I was at the Vegas show and she did great. You could tell she was struggling but she was a real trooper. GO Avril even with your voice not 100 percent you did GREAT!!!.

As a Canadian, she offends me, but for the sake of the arguement and trying to stay neutral, let's look at her career: started as a teen with a catchy pop song and a tie; moved forward with the red and black skulls and stripes in the emo movement; disappeared for a bit; got married and is now touring again… to shows with 15 year olds.
Avril isn't a vioce, she's a gimmick; a gimmick that only caters to pre-adolescent teenagers, for that matter! Granted, a 25 year old friend of mine went to the concert (here in Calgary) and said it was FANTASTIC! BUT she dressed up like a 13 year old and was embarrassed the entire time! If you want to defend Perez's "harsh" comments about this washed-up, immature, pop-princess than that's your perogative, but don't get pissy at him for calling her on what she is! He has never preteneded to be anything that he isn't: physically or otherwise. He's tOtAlLy just a gimmick too, the only difference is that he'll know when to either stop or move on to bigger and better things.

The Radio stations in San Diego were giving tickets out every hour for the longest time up until this show. I laughed so hard when i heard it was canceled…an so did the DJ's on the radio ha!
