This Is A Serious Question
Filed under: Baby Blabber > Tom Cruise
Suri Cruise has been stepping out with her daddy in NYC these last few days.
The child is now 2 years old.
Isn't that too old to still be sucking on the bottle??????

No, my son is the same age as Suri and still carries a bottle around, as a type of pacifier. The doctor says it's fine as long as he doesn't sleep with liquids in the bottle because it will ruin his teeth. I think you should have children before offering opinions.
what do you know?
why must you shit on everyone?
youre caring for a dog-not raising a kid
Hell ya, she's too old…poor Katie could not make any loud sounds during labor…but Suri is still on the bottle…someone dropped the ball somewhere…or maybe Scientology parenting classes allows toddles too be fed from the bottle still…I see it as laziness….I guess it's easier to put the bottle in her mouth…than trying to teach her to drink from a cup….
Yes, she should. If the cruisoids had any will power they and their 400 nannies would have weaned her to a cup a year ago.
I was wondering when you were going to comment on this. She should have already been weened off the bottle over a year ago. Children should start drinking from a sippy cup shortly after their 1st birthday. If this is part of their scientology beliefs then that little girl will be sure to grow up a BRAT!
Re: Reno Girl – I agree totally, as long as she doesnt sleep w/the bottle, she won't get rotten teeth anyway. That comes from the sugars in the milk sitting in the mouth as the child sleeps.
This is a Scientology thing. There is some special formula they drink( not kidding) into childhood that's supposed to support their bodies and mind and keep them true to the teachings. Swear to God ( oops, Ron Hubbard) - look it up.
hellsssss YES idiot parents into so much Scientology they forget about the science of rotted teeth!!
No. a bottle or a sippy cup what is the difference. If it comforts her and she also eats regular meals than no of course not.
Just because she has one in ONE photo doesn't mean she's not also using sippy cups. A lot of two-year-olds still have a bottle or two when they're tired or whatever. Definitely not too old. A lot of people still breastfeed their kids at two, so a bottle's fine!
Re: elyse –
The face that it is milk has nothing to do with it. Milk is still necessary, but she is too old for a bottle, She should at least be drinking from a sippy cup.
Give her a break! She's two! If every time I left the house, I'd be deluged with flashbulbs and wacko paparazzi chasing me, I'd be sucking on a bottle too.
Now, then did pulled Street the wild places were about having
Too old — especially with milk in it. Hopefully they have good dental insurance cause her teeth are going to rot out of her head!
probably, but I imagine the comfort of a bottle helps her deal with all the crap she has to face at such a young age
Who cares…in a crazy situation with paps flashing their cameras in her poor little face a bottle gives her some comfort why the hell not. It must be crazy for a little kid. What does it matter if she has a milk with her - besides having kids - I don't know about the rest of you - when my kids were small and we were dressed up going somewhere a bottle was a helluva lot more spill or dribble proof than sippy cups.
Much easier when dad is carrying you to use a bottle then drip a cup full all over him..
Uumm…YES! @ is too old for a bottle. After their first b day (give or take a few months), they need to be weaned off the bottle and go to a SIPPY CUP.
Not really. Had one that gave up the bottle at 9 mos another was almost 3. It depends on the child. And, I'd say as crazy as that poor little girl's life probably is, the extra security of her bottle is probably a good thing. Same thing with the blankie. With all those cameras, strangers, etc. I can see where she'd need the extra "security". Don't see a problem at all.
Each child varies. Sometimes it's easier to ween a child off the bottle than others. My oldest refused to give hers up until she was 3, but she used a cup also. My other 2 were off the sippy cup by 11 months and 9 months.
yes that bottle should have been gone BEFORE she turned two!
no baby talk but she gets a bottle what next aliens from planet Hubbard? what the heck happened to his other kids you don't seem him with them what he got his own bblood now disowned or did his audits remove them from the sea org
YES, absolutely. Pediatricians recommend switching from bottle to cup at 1 year … her teeth will be all kind of jacked, not to mention she'll have a nipple complex for the rest of her life!
they let the kids run wild. no boundaries. no rules. easier to have alien take over.
Yes! They should be off of it by a year!
yeah too old.. no wonder spoil brat..
YES! My child was drinking in a sippy cup the day he turned 1!
YES! It is far too old. Dentists and Pediatrician recommend taking the bottle away at one to prevent bottle rot. Maybe, Scientology knows something we don't.
Yes, it is!!!
it is WAY too old—bottles should stop at one!!! anyone who says otherwise probably were too woosy to take their own kids ba-ba away in a timely fashion!
for all of you saying that no she is not too old is wrong!! a baby is suppose to be off the bottle by the age of 1. for many reasons, 1 being that sucking on a bottle will cause her teeth to shift and give her an "open bite" meaning her front teeth top and bottom will have a space even when she clenches her teeth together also if they are letting her sleep w/ the bottle in her mouth that will cause the milk or juice to just sit in her mouth and cause decay!! they are doing her more harm than good! get her off the bottle!!!
Hell yes. That child is too old for a bottle. She should be eating what everyone else does by now. And for all the ones that voted that it was NOYB, it's because you are too embarassed that your 2 yr old still does it, and you let them. Besides letting them have the bottle for a long time will cause tooth decay and such. Get rid of the bottle!!
I would have said that she was too old six months ago. However my otherwise perfect 16 month old son has a swallowing problem that was only discovered after the stoppping of breastfeeding. The only way he can take liquid is from a bottle and so I think it is wrong to judge.
so alright
i am disturbed by tom cruise as much as the next person
but this is actually none of your or any random creepy internet persons business, its his kid(/alien spore/robot) and it doesn't affect you.
Why does this child always have a bottle in her mouth—she is going to ruin her teeth–maybe that explains her mothers snaggle teeth–get a sippy cup!
LEAVE her alone….she's still a baby…..it's hard to give up the bubby!!!
Yes…was wondering when you (Perez) were going to ask that question LOL
ALTHOUGH…My little girls were older than two. It's their comfort and mommy's way of holding onto "baby!" Soooo…IT's OK
it's up to them really, mine is still on it and she's about to be 5, i find it that society tries to make kids grow up too quick, it's a matter of opinion it's their kid, the only thing i would be worried is if she is eating solids 3 x a day and wether the palette of her mouth would be ruined. so it could be physically bad.
I hate it when someone who DOESN'T HAVE KIDS questions someone else's parenting decisions.
It is kinda old for the bottle, but with the paps stressing her out, she needs the comfort. My son is 22 months and still has bottles - but just at naptime and bedtime.
You know, funny you suggest that. I just read an article in People about Leah Remini's daughter, who is two and a half. The whole article was on how spoiled she is, admitted by her parents. She is also still on a bottle. They said (in a nutshell) that they know they need to work on it, but due to their religious beliefs (scientology) they try to allow her to make her own decisions and never tell her NO. Funny, that it seems the Cruises have the same ideas on child rearing.
I have been thinking that forever! Babies give their bottles up at one, and some a little later. Two is WAY too old for a bottle!!
I just graduated with a degree in Early Childhood Development and from everything that I learned in college, that child should NOT be on a bottle anymore! It almost comes across as lazy parenting because it is going to take a few sleepless nights and some dealing with fits to get her off the bottle. Not only that but the longer they wait the harder it will be.
Give it a rest! Let them raise her like they want. They don't pay my bills and I sure as hell don't pay theirs so let them live life as they want Find something interesting to write about\
Welll…….maybe ,and ESPECIALLY the type of bottle she is using…are they trying to save money by using a bottle style for a NEWBORN???????? Come on, folks
My mom says she stopped giving me a bottle at 8 months, I know children who get it taken away at like 6 months. 2 is 2 old! Heres one for you my fiance still gives his 6 year old daughter sippy cups NOW THATS FUNNY!
Are any of you parents? Give them a break the kid is only two.
Doesn't he, with ALL his wisdom, know this will damage Suri's teeth?
Apparently PerezHilton is where all the parenting experts go.
They're gonna mess up her teeth if they don't get rid of that bottle.
Leave the toddler along. If shes still on a bottle so what. Shes only 2! just get over it. all kids are different. She'll get off the bottle when shes ready.
people who say 2 is too old obviously don't have kids, she's not too old i know women who breastfeed older kids, if it's comforting to her why criticize? it's like a baby blanket kids have those till they are ready for school, what's the problem wtf
A bottle's no worse than 3 and 4 years olds walking around with a pacifier stuck in their mouth!
Seriously, how is this anyone elses business? And Perez how many children do you have?
SHE SHOULD BE DRINKING OUT OF A WINE GLASS JUST LIKE HER DEAD BEAT FATHER AN HER DITSY MOTHER
Anyone who thinks A child that just turned two is too old for a bottle obviously have no children. Because anyone with a child knows that everychild is different and some leave the bottle early and some don't. Furthermore, especially when you are out of the home a bottle is more convenient for the parent because two year olds are famous for tilting cupps all the way back and messing up their clothes. People really need to get life if this what you have to focus on when there are so many other things going on in the world. Get serious people and Ms. Hilton before you make a dumb comment like that ask a parent.
YES. She should be working towards sippy cups and cups.
ALSO supposedly Leah Remini still has her 4 yr old in DIAPERS and on a bottle.
Around 2 they should be learning to potty train as well. Its because scientologists allow their kids to do whatever because thats how it works in the cult.
That's UNHEALTHY
yes! there is no reason she should still have a bottle unless maybe scientology requires it or something…
The child should be off that bottle. It rots their teeth. I am surprised that she isn't still breast feeding! The same goes with pacifiers. Totally lazy parents.
I was thinkin the same thing yesterday when I saw another picture of her with a bottle!
She is much too old for a bottle….somewhere between 1 year and no more than 1 1/2, the bottle should be taken away. Sometimes there are attachment issues (bottles, blankets, pacifiers), so have the child "give" the bottle to a baby duck or something since the child is no longer a baby and doesn't need it. The child will only miss it for a day or two and will move on to something else.
Bottles provide comfort. With Tom Cruise as her Dad, she needs all the comfort she can get!! I wouldn't be surprised if Katie uses a bottle, too!
They are tranfering to solids? At 2 years old she should have been eating solids for a long time. My 1 yr old has been eating solids for a few months. He gets the bottle at bed time and uses a sippy cup. In a few months he goes off the bottle. I guess it is a lot easier to just stick a bottle in a kids mouth then to actually take the time to feed them. I think it is nonsense to keep a child that can eat food to have a bottle in their mouths.
Take that baby bottle away from her! She is two years old, way too old for a bottle. Give her a sippy cup at least!
Re: Judy – and so what if she was still breastfeeding?
as the mom of a 2 year old … I don't want mine to grow up toooo fast they do anyways.. so big deal … kiddos will give it up eventually!!
Re: YaYa –
I agree - lazy parenting…..I can't stand when I see parents feed their small babies bottles in their carseats or strollers by propping up the bottle on a blanket…..too lazy to hold the bottle yourself?
my kid is 2 years and the bottle has been gone since 1 yr your supposed to give your kid the formula for the first year so its get the right nutrient, but start feeding baby food @6 months…. i have given my son formula when i wasnt able to get him to eat but thats it. the bottle should be gone and for all we know they are giving her some crazies breast milk from their church
OMG that kid is going to have rotten teeth from being on a bottle that long. By the time kids are a year old they should be done with the bottle.
Re: Judy –
Judgy Judy, in the house! Yes, you're perfect.
If she's not off the bottle and into the wonderful sippy cups - I'm sure she not potty trained either????
For the love of ……LEAVE THEM ALONE ALREADY!! How come nobody said jack when the Jolie-Pitt clan all had bags of cheetos/fritos, etc, including the toddler Shiloh???? Isn't that a tad worse parenting wise than Suri still having a ::gasp:: milk bottle???
I think thats a bit too old myself, but I am not the child's parent. I can only speak from my experience with my son and he was no longer using a bottle at 2. At that age he was eating more solid foods and drinking from a small glass or sippy cup…
not unusual, although I did break my babies from the bottle around 1 1/2 yrs. We need to keep our noses out of their business, I am not a big Tom Cruise fan… I just find it funny that we have to scrutinize (may not be spelled right..oh well…get the picture) everything they do.
Yes! She is absolutly to old for a bottle, she should be using a regular cup now, a sippy cup on ocasion if she spills alot. Its terrible for her teeth and shes 2, she doesnt decide if she wants a bottle, you throw it away and her only option is a cup like a big girl, it drive me insane to see people letting their children who can walk and talk using bottles and pacifiers! it hurts the parents more to take it away and they let the child still use them so they dont have to listen to them whine for it.
and for those of you saying whats the difference between a bottle and a sippy cup, take off your retard glasses and look at them. If there was no difference why dont we just give newborns sippy cups?
Surely she should be weaned by this time, if not off of the bottle(s) and pacifier(s) by this age. The earlier, the better any doctor or dentist can give sound advice regarding this matter. If she is drinking out of a bottle during the day, I would feel safe to say that she takes one at bed time as well. It's sad that most folks don't understand how milk, juices, anything that has the slightest amount of sugars in it will stay on their teeth possibly causing dental problems in the future. Not to mention the nipples will cause the teeth to shift during their formative years. Then what comes next when the child is say, 10 or 12 years of age? Braces maybe? Or maybe dental decay, and/or extractions? If she really needs to get her vitamins from milk, etc. (which we all know we need to get our vitamins and minerals in each day that is a given) give it to her in a sippy cup, and if she insists on her bottle, only give her water in it.
MORE TO THE POINT THEY ARE GOING TO A "DRESSED" UP AFFAIR WHY WOULD SHE NEED MILK, OR INDEED A BOTTLE WITH ANY THING IN IT FOR THE SHORT SPACE OF TIME TO GET WHERE THEY ARE GOING
Continued…She soon will see that in order to get what tastes good to her will only come from a cup. I’ll bet you she will only drink out of her cup after a few hissy fits and soon dispose of her bottle(s). Some parents feel as though because the child may throw a "hissy fit" if taken away they would rather keep the child calm, quiet, and not upset her/him in any way. But what they don't want to own up to is, they don’t want to deal with it themselves and have will honestly believe that the child will either "grow out of it" or "get tired of it" in their own time. Granted that may be true, but it’s a rare. We all have seen that it's a "parent’s pacifier" more often then a necessity for the child. Sometimes families are so busy the parents can convince themselves of most anything. Sorry should anyone disagree but yes, we're all entitled to our opinion.
YES!!! All 3 of my kids were weaned of the bottle shortly after their 1st bdays! That is simply ridiculous that a 2 yr old is still sucking on a bottle!!
BOTTLE FOR COMFORT????????? WHAT ARE THE PARENTS FOR ? AND WHY HAVE THEY TAKEN HER OUT IN THE NIGHT ANY WAY ????? AND ACTUALLY DO I CARE A FLYING FLIP?
Re: Stanford Child Dev Professor –
I think thats a load of BS so if she want they should let her walk around with the bottle until she 50~ The child is exactly that, A CHILD, she shouldnt decide when shes ready to give something like that up, she hasnt learned enough yet to make a well rounded decision, she doesnt understand the consequences using a bottle can have on her teeth, or her speech for that matter. She should be using a f-ing cup!
YESSSSS~ You are supposed to take away the bottle by 15 months! Otherwise it can cause mouth/teeth problems. She needs to have sippy with milk, juice or water. TAKE THE BOTTLE AWAY TOM!!!! Oh yeah…..but you are supposed to be the child's "friend" right?? That's scientology for ya!
Perez… You have been sucling ob things a lot longer than 2 years. When do you stop?
No, it's not. You should start weening them at 2 but it's not a big deal.
You people are idiots. Yes, they say to transition children around the age of 12 - 18 months to a cup. However, the "bottle tooth rot" is when you let a child fall asleep with a bottle of milk or juice and it accumulates in their mouth and begins to rot the teeth. Leave them alone, and stop acting like because you've read a parenting book you know all.
My doctor made us change to a cup at 1 year.
Yes, my children and now my 23 month old granddaughter were all weaned off the bottle by the age of one. The granddaughter has been using a sippy cup of varying stages since she was about 10 months old, with a night time bottle up until about 18 months. Suri is still on the type of bottle with the disposable lining!! That ended for my granddaughter at about 9 months.
Poor kid is going to have serious dental problems…
The American Pediatric Society, or whatever it's called, suggests that babies be off bottles by their first birthday, as continued use of them can cause serious issues with their teeth. I just got the most awesome mental image of Suri at age 7 with a grill…
I personally think she is TOO OLD for a bottle, BUT that is none of my/anyone's business. That is THEIR baby girl and if she is still on the bottle, that is their choice!
They are her parents and it is entirely up to them when to get her off the bottle!
Yes it is widely recommended babies are taken off the bottle at one at the same time they are taken off formula. What the risk is - is sucking on the bottle like kids do with pacifier, or fingers will alter her teeth and result in dental issues forever changing how her teeth will come in.
since it is a comfort instinct only small children have I think the child should decide when to move on to a cup.
By their first b-day the sippy cup should be introduced and the bottle should be taken away. Cups should also be used when your not on the go…like the three meals. Helllo Katie read a book, you have millions, educate yourself.
ehh…I won't get into the yes or no debate, as I think it is up to each individual parent, but remind me again Perez…exactly how may children do you have?? Since it sounds like you are the parenting expert.
When a child is pranced around the world to show her parent's devotion it is only natural that she is an insecure little girl, thus the devotion to the bottle. While Katie is off shopping for months at a time, and Tom is off talking up the religion, Suri is supposed to show her parent's stability, and yes folks, she is showing that now. Slurp!
What's next-we have to listen to you nosey-nellies tell us how the celebs teach their kids to wipe? The child will give up the bottle completely when ready, just as we all did. I find it highly unlikely the child will go to preschool still carrying a bottle.
Get a life.
Unless you are a parent you don't have much right to comment on this one …
My son (almost 2) still has a bottle - at night ONLY
My daughter (aged 3) gave hers up on her first birthday.
Every kid is different … why be in a rush for them to grow up?
Suri will give up the bottle when she wants too…In the mean time they should try to help find her a sippy cup she wont want to put down, let her pick one out that she wants.
Who the hell cares? The only thing that matters is when your own child comes off a bottle. It is no one else's business.
I'm a pediatric nurse and I can assure you that a two year old is too old for a bottle. Children around one usually transition to sippy cups with ease. This is a case of the parents not wanting to fight with their child over the issue. And she does have busy parents who probably don't want to deal with it. Which is surprising since I would think Tom would be a bit of a perfectionist with the raising of his kids.
ok i'm a parent and I still think 2 is too old! it's stupid how people say well if ur not a parent then don't judge of course people are gonna judge especially if the childs health is a concern. For those of you who have kids still on a bottle at 2 or older even if it's just at "night only" need to rethink ur parenting skills and quit being lazy!!!!
