Filed under: Baby Blabber > Tom Cruise

wenn1723794.jpg

Suri Cruise has been stepping out with her daddy in NYC these last few days.

The child is now 2 years old.

Isn't that too old to still be sucking on the bottle??????

My daughter is 2 but she only uses a bottle when she sleeps and it is filled with water. Unfortunately she never outgrew her nighttime feeding so when I stopped breastfeeding, I gave her a bottle. We have tried the sippy cup at night but she gets the sheets soaked with water and I end up waking up at the middle of the night changing her sheets.

    1202

no. some last longer than 2 years old and it depends on the child and parents. After 3 well, maybe.

  3. debbie says – reply to this

    1203

yes - she at least needs a sippy cup!

  4. goldfish says – reply to this

    1204

it is absolutely fine to be drinking from a bottle at 2!!!
stop trying to make everyone look like dumb parents, especially if you're not even one.
and anyway every child is different

    1205

I still drank from a feeding bottle until age 6 and all my 5 brothers did. In our country, we don't believe that bottle -feeding poses grave problems. We are more concerned about disciplining kids in the matters of of behavior and faith rather than stressing out on feeding bottles and car seats. Whatever the best doctors in the world is saying about the feeding bottles,we really don't care because we want our children to enjoy their short youth -span and enjoy what it is being a child. Unlike here in the US, American parents stress out too much about what not's to be stressed about rather than disciplining their kids to behave and give respect to people. Kids here in America grow up too fast and that is why there are more teenage parents, kids who kill others, kids who have sex very early in age and kids who sass and curse back at parents and older people. And then they stress out about feeding bottles and car seats? Who cares about feeding bottles and car seats if you cannot train y

As the mother of a 3 year old - I can say I threw out all the bottles in my house when my daughter kicked the stomach flu at 13 months. IMHO - still drinking out of a bottle at more than 2 years old - it's laziness…

  7. mommy says – reply to this

    1207

Actually, a lot of kids are still breastfeeding at 2, and older…but I suppose I'd rather see her drinking a bottle than a boob, on that note, a sippy cup would be a good idea, especially out and about like this.

  8. paula says – reply to this

    1208

no. as long as she is not sleeping with the bottle in her mouth, she will not get bottle tooth rot. if she wants a bottle, let her have it. she will transition to a cup on her own, as most toddlers do.

  9. Caroline Kelly says – reply to this

    1209

Bottle feeding? I'm surprised he's not breast-feeding. He's waaaay too weird these days.

  10. tamie says – reply to this

    1210

hell yes she should have been off that damn bottle no later than her first birthday. NO EXCUSES!!!!!!!!

  11. Bob says – reply to this

    1211

Not at all!!!!!!! It is TOTALLY FINE–I would remove the criticism if I were you because it makes you look like a major jackass

  12. annie says – reply to this

    1212

1 year is way too early to take a bottle from a baby…The bottle should be taken away by 2 1/2 years old for sure, but 12 months is entirely too early!!!!
Suri is fine to have a bottle….For crying out loud, she is a baby people!!!!!

  13. Caroline Kelly says – reply to this

    1213

Re: gnib – Your lazy mother should have her butt kicked. I bet she counted to ten every time you little heathens acted up in a restaurant while the people around you suffered from your unseemly behaviour. Too bad that TV nanny didn't get hold of your family and whip you into shape. Kids are not intended to be babies forever, just to humor their parents.

  14. Monkey says – reply to this

    1214

Too old, its bad for their teeth..so my doctor said…I took my son's bottles away wether he liked it or not..

  15. eelrebmyk says – reply to this

    1215

She is entirely toooo old fofr a bottle… my 1 yr old cuz drinks from a cup, so why isn't she? TomKat is officially a WEIRD couple in my book…

  16. Casey says – reply to this

    1216

Well, there, Dr. Hilton, I'm sure that the Cruises are appalled with themselves for not checking in with you, obviously the parenting expert, before making any decisions regarding the weaning of their child. I know that having nothing better to do than gossip about other people certainly makes you the go-to guy for child related questions. Silly them.

  17. A Mom says – reply to this

    1217

Are you kidding? First of all, it's none of anyone's business. Secondly, she's a TOT! I'm sure she won't be going on her first date or her first job interview with a bottle hanging out of her mouth. Let Suri have her bottle if that's what she likes. All my kids loved drinking from their bottles until they were 2 or 3 and they are all intelligent, outspoken, well-behaved adolescents with no hang ups. Don't go pointing any fingers on anyone's parenting skills until you've raised your own- and even at that point, you'll still be in no position to declare yourself a parenting expert!!!

  18. Dawn says – reply to this

    1218

I guess its fine as long as you have the money to fix the kids fcked up teeth and send her off to therpy because she wont stop acting like a whiny baby when she is in her teens

  19. Beta says – reply to this

    1219

thats not too old. Women in some traditional cultures breast-feed until the child is four or five. This is a cultural standard, not one that has any basis in fact. Suri is fine with a bottle.

  20. mary says – reply to this

    1220

people should leave the kid alone, i have never seen a kid start kindergarden with a bottle. The bottle has long been comfort for young toddlers. 2 is no big deal, i have had 8 kids and none started school with a bottle, although 5 out of the 8 had the bottle until around 4 so what is the big deal?

  21. Wendy says – reply to this

    1221

When raising my kids there were always those who said "Oh they have to be potty trained by two, off the bottle by one, and on and on and on. It would make you crazy to listen to every one of them. I tried with the first one which resulted in a lot of conflicts and hurt feelings. Finally I let the kids take the lead and you know what? Not one entered school wearing a diaper or sucking on a bottle. Leave people be, or do you have to make issues over every little thing?????

  22. WLC says – reply to this

    1222

I guess there is nothing else to talk about with Tom and Kate so let's complain about Suri still taking a bottle. I had one who went off the bottle at 14 months and another at 2 1/2. I found the child will let you know when it is time and it appears that Suri is not ready yet. Just let her be - she is a happy baby and that shows that Tom and Kate are doing just fine.

  23. Kim says – reply to this

    1223

Really Perez? Are you not fishing a little too hard for shit to say about Cruise? Just a tad pathetic.

  24. momx3boys says – reply to this

    1224

All children are different..nursed #1 for 1 year #2 for 161/2 months #3 for 31/2 years…let the baby have her bottle!!

  25. kc says – reply to this

    1225

You obviously have no children. She is still a baby. It's not like she's 6 and still carrying that bottle around. That would concern me. Leave that family alone.

  26. kc says – reply to this

    1226

ooo, breastfeeding a 3 1/2 year old…now that's way too long and gross!

  27. DOM says – reply to this

    1227

Personally I'd like to see her boob-feeding from Kat !!!!

  28. Jacki says – reply to this

    1228

Absolutely! My daughter was off by 1 and is 2 and drinks from a cup with a straw or a regular cup. I believe it also has something to do with speech and how you move your tongue as you grow to be off the bottle sooner. They are her parents so they know whats best for her. Its a hard thing to take away from a child and most don't want to go through it.

  29. ag says – reply to this

    1229

For all his talk about how bad ADD medication is, his kid's teeth will be rotting.

  30. Stammon says – reply to this

    1230

I have four kids. 9 to 17. All tops in their classes.

How about no! How about mind your own business.

Breast is best, we weened around 3 years old. That's about average across the world.

  31. jeanny says – reply to this

    1231

why can you people stay out of other people business who cares some like it that way maby she is not ready to give up her bottle this is not your child

  32. Jessica says – reply to this

    1232

Yes! WAYYYYY to old. I thought she was too old when I saw pictures of her doing this at 18 months! She should be drinking from a real cup and if they are out and about and want something spill free then a sippy cup or straw cup.

  33. Bev says – reply to this

    1233

Nanny's r probably raising the child. The parents probably have their famous lives to attend to so to compensate for that, Suri gets the bottle. Two year olds still sporting bottles is an example of some lazy parenting.

  34. Loey says – reply to this

    1234

three might be too old,but not two

  35. V L Savoie says – reply to this

    1235

It's no one's business. Most people really resent being told how to parent their children, including the respondents to this question who would protest loudly if other people tried to tell them they are right or wrong in how they choose to parent. In this regard, the issue is not the bottle in Suri Cruise's mouth, but the opinions coming out of the mouths of busy bodies.

  36. mari says – reply to this

    1236

dumb ass,she is onlt 2 I bet u sucked on a bottle way pass that!

  37. Margo says – reply to this

    1237

    This is the dumbest argument!
It's the parent's choice, not yours!
A child can switch between bottle and cup for transition, as well as comfort.

  38. Madeleine says – reply to this

    1238

you suck Perez… no, it's not too old… nobody tought that it could be CONVENIENT for a toddler when outside the house????

  39. rose says – reply to this

    1239

No is not old, AND LEAVE HER ALONE, does anyone notice that she is not an adult? you can not be serious talking trash about a 2 yr old kid, does anyone will be in agree if someone criticize your way to educate your kids just because has a blog? This can not be even legal … get a life and look someone your age looser.

  40. Rose says – reply to this

    1240

    Who the hell cares???

  41. tess says – reply to this

    1241

I do not believe it's anyones business how Tom and Katie, or any other person raises their children. As long as they are loved and the parents take care of the needs of their children. I say Perez Hilton should find something more interesting to gossip about.

  42. Anne says – reply to this

    1242

Right! My 22 month old grandson is using a fork and quit nursing and was using a sippy cup at 11 months old. And is well adjusted, does not throw fits in public and I believed did this all by seeing everyone else do it. He's a constantly laughing child and (OH MY) goes to McDonald's and watches TV and even eats ice-cream! Are his parents going to H**l?

  43. ANGELA says – reply to this

    1243

HMMMM….WAS THERE NOTHING INTERESTING HAPPENING ON THIS DAY TO TALK ABOUT

  44. jas says – reply to this

    1244

ANY pediatric dentist will tell you that this child, aka Suri, is a candidate for "bottle-baby-syndrome" (rotten teeth at a very young age)…9 to 12 months is the maximum age a child should be sucking on a bottle~~mine were all drinking out of straws by 8 months! Shame on the Cruises~~aren't there any Pedodontists in there Scientology cult?!?

  45. GoodMom says – reply to this

    1245

It's way too old! She should be drinking from a regular cup by now. I've noticed the bottle too and thought it was bizarre.

  46. Tammi says – reply to this

    1246

My daughter is 16 month's and she still uses a bottle. Along with a sippy cup. I see no problem with it.

  47. Ellen says – reply to this

    1247

No way. Each child at their own pace. Especially at the pace that this child lives in. It might be her "security blanket of sorts" just when she goes out and their are "press present. My son didn't walk till 2 and sucked a pacificier till 2 and a half. He is now a adult. Well asjusted and raising his oiwn. Leave this family alone. For the love of GOD, she is just a baby!

  48. babies says – reply to this

    1248

Yes because it's bad for their teeth.

  49. rebecca says – reply to this

    1249

i personally don't think it is. who really cares. it's just a bottle. it will not cause her any health problems or mental problems.

oh, by the way, my family is Christian and my little sister was on a bottle until she was about 4. she is perfectly fine now. honestly people, get a life. stop judging.

  50. Pam says – reply to this

    1250

How many babies have you raised? I personally prefer moms to breastfeed, for health reasons for both mom and baby. And breastfeeding is recommended for AT LEAST 2 years. So if a mom chooses the bottle, why not continue after the 2nd birthday? BTW, what business is it of anyone's but the family?

  51. Cara says – reply to this

    1251

Oh, for God's sake, it's nobody's business but theirs. Give it a rest!

  52. zanye says – reply to this

    1252

It's fine. My baby was 2 as well. Her teeth are perfect and she is very content. Why hurry the baby stage?

  53. Kiris says – reply to this

    1253

Hope that's breastmilk, what with all the Scientologist hype about being super-healthy and super-conscious about health-related topics. Otherwise, a BIG booo-hiss on the parenting front.

  54. vincat says – reply to this

    1254

Not really. Kids get thirsty when out and about. A bottle is a lot less of a mess than a cup would be.

  55. Gina says – reply to this

    1255

I think it is a personal choice. All posts state she should use a cup. Maybe she does both. I did read an article a little ways back that the Cruise's don't believe in making Suri reach for milestones she isn't ready for. I walk around in malls and I see plenty of babies and/or toddlers with pacifiers and bottles. The only reason they are getting so much fuss is because they are famous. Who really cares. This is their baby and it is ultimately their choice when she is weaned. I do think it should be soon, but it's up to the parents.

  56. Vera says – reply to this

    1256

I have been wondering that for awhile. They are supposed to be off the bottle by like 1. Maybe 8 months. That is pushing it. They are probably giving her some magical scientolodrink.

  57. f8speaks says – reply to this

    1257

    queer ass fuck head

  58. Ami says – reply to this

    1258

who cares if she is still sucking on a bottle?????? my son is 2 and he still uses a bottle. but he also uses a sippy cup and the "big boy" cup, so whats the big deal???? even though i cant stand tom cruise…let them do whatever the hell they want with their kid…..

  59. sabina a says – reply to this

    1259

if you are not a parent and do NOT know anything about raising a child… since you DO NOT have any, then you should not be commenting about the baby bottle. I believe that the Child will give up the bottle when she is good and ready!!! So enough already!! Leave that damn bottle alone and leave SURI alone too.!!!

  60. lisa says – reply to this

    1260

Not really. Some countries breastfeed till a child is 3 yrs old. Really its no ones business but theres. Get a life and stay out of there business!!

  61. CINDEE says – reply to this

    1261

THE ONE THING I HATED THE MOST WAS PEOPLE TELLING ME WHAT WAS BEST AND WHAT I NEEDED TO DO WITH MY CHILD. I SAY ITS UP TO THE PARENTS. I HAVE THREE KIDS AND ALWAYS TOLD PEOPLE TO KEEP THEIR OPINIONS TO THEMSELVES. MY DAUGHTERS WERE OFF AT A YEAR OLD BUT MY SON 18 MONTHS IS HAVING A LITTLE MORE OF AN ISSUE SO I STILL LET HIM HAVE IT.

  62. ami says – reply to this

    1262

Re: Vera – 8 months???are u seroius??? at what age did u get off a bottle or boob for that matter???? do u even have kids??? any smart person wth kids will know thea she will give up the bottle when she's good and ready…assholes

  63. Marina says – reply to this

    1263

My own opinion - honestly yes, it's too old for a bottle. Especially considering according to Tom she talks a lot so I'm going to say she could ask for a glass of milk or water or whatever. On the other hand it's really none of our business but I would not have my 2 year old drinking from a bottle.

  64. June Jones says – reply to this

    1264

    big deal

  65. Jen says – reply to this

    1265

We waste our time reading senseless gossipy internet articles that numb our minds and souls to the real world and here we are all commenting on a child who is still bottle feeding at two?

Seems like we are still 'bottle feeding' ourselves on the internet, sucking up others lives since we aren't smart enough to sign off and enjoy our own families. Maybe thats because our parents weaned us too early and we are still in our 'oral phase' forever. Hmmm….put down those cigarettes, twinkies and chewing gum!!!

  66. speech pathologist says – reply to this

    1266

As a pediatric speech pathologist who works closely with pediatricians, orthodontists, surgeons, and dentists…She should definitely be off the bottle. Sippy cups with stoppers are no better (tongue thrust, tooth decay, teeth and maxilla growth affected, and possible delayed development of muscles needed for speech production in the jaws, cheeks, and tongue). I was wondering how long that one would take to come up. Everytime i saw a picture at the grocery store, I thought "Wow!! Nobody's told them yet?" Open cup and straw drinking (they do make spill proof with lids) should be introduced at 12 months of age. Skip the sippy!!!!!

  67. Kendall says – reply to this

    1267

Total laziness to me……I have an 18 month that won't even touch a bottle. He is already drinking bottled water.

  68. faith says – reply to this

    1268

Lighten Up!! Look, I'm not a TomKat fan by any stretch. But give it a rest! An occasional bottle while a child is weaning off is not the end of the world! By the by, I'm an RN with a specialty in Peds. More damage is done by parents who are too inflexible in their timetables for bottle cessation, potty training, etc. Most toddlers possess an internal 'clock' that should also be considered when 'goals' are being worked toward. Therefore, your 'serious' question is not all that serious, nor is it anyone else's business but the parents' of this child.

  69. Jill says – reply to this

    1269

Yes, she is too old. By one year bottles should be phased out. My daughters switched to sippy cups at 10 months, though they continued breast-feeding until 14 months.

  70. jen says – reply to this

    1270

Re: Kendall – Tsk, tsk–bottled water? Bottled in plastic, I presume? Not a very informed choice.

  71. LADY MADONNA says – reply to this

    1271

BREAST IS BEST BUT KATIE IS BUSY FEEDING TOM OR IS IT TOM FEEDING KATIE???????….ANYHOO IT'S SCIENTOLOGY FORMULA FOR LIL XENU TODDLER SURI AND PLASTIC DISPOSABLE BOTTLES!!!!! ERRRRRRR WAY TO OLD FOR BOTTLES OR WE WOULDN'T BE HAVING THIS DISCUSSION PEEPS!!!!

  72. Joey says – reply to this

    1272

Scientology is a CULT!!! It is NOT a religion and most places in the world do not recognize it as one. Worshipping aliens is so Sci Fi, oh yeah that's who wrote it!! lol

As for the bottle at 2 years old, blame the parents!!!

  73. Beck says – reply to this

    1273

I have a daughter who is 18 mos old, the pediatrician told us at one that we should phase out the bottle - Suri definitely should NOT have one!

  74. allicat says – reply to this

    1274

It absolutely is not fine! Prolonged bottle use after 1 year old can mishape the roof of your mouth, lead to dental issues, and also lead to a speech impediment (mainly lisping due to incorrect tongue placement from sucking on the bottle forever). Time for a cup!

  75. Mari says – reply to this

    1275

SHE IS WAY TOO OLD!!! My daughter was completely bottle free by 15 months… she didnt even want it after 15 months!!! But i introduced the "big girl cup" at a year old, so….

  76. MImi says – reply to this

    1276

My pediatrician told me to take the bottle away from my son at 12 months!! She is WAY too old to have a bottle!!

  77. Trish H says – reply to this

    1277

Oh My Dear Lord Leave this family alone who the heck cares if the kid drinks a bottle till she's 20. GET A LIFE OF YOUR OWN LOSERS

  78. Anie says – reply to this

    1278

It's getting a little too old. The main thing about sucking(bottles, nooks, thumbs) is that it causes the babies teeth to grow in weirdly angled. Which is never good.

But hey, TomKat have the money to get her teeth fixed. =D

  79. Jessica says – reply to this

    1279

YES!!! I've been thinking that for the past year! Kids should be off the bottle by their 1st birthday!!!

  80. Carlos says – reply to this

    1280

I am sorry…but are you an expert on this topic. My children also used the bottle until their late 2's. This perhaps is more for convenience than anything else. Perhaps you are stepping out of line in, once again, misjudging others.
Not really sure who perezhilton is and quite frankly not interested. Ignorance can make anyone a celebrity, and this observation is very ignorant. Celebrity…you are not!

  82. amanda says – reply to this

  83. noonetoyou says – reply to this

who gives a flying rats ass leave suri out of your commentary assmunch she's defenseless and yet you have an outlet to a bunch of moronic hollyweird fanatics who worship fucking nobodies as if their lives and comments depended on it grow up we know it's your job but have some fucking integrity perezi do you know the meaning of the word?!? probably not since you took the last name of a no-nothing whore-a-lite that contributed just about as much as my last shat

  84. sarah says – reply to this

    1284

FINALLY!!!!!!!!!!!! Someone said it!!!!!!!!! I work for a pediatrician and a child should be off the bottle by 12 months. Or does scientology dictate that too?

  85. amanda says – reply to this

    1285

Pediatritions advice to stop bottle use at 1 year. So, she's a year behind. =\ Reality check TomKat, your kiddie needs PARENTS

  86. kirsten says – reply to this

    1286

um is it just me or is she drinking tissues?

  87. Jessica says – reply to this

    1287

    WAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY too old!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  88. Kori says – reply to this

    1288

It could just be a comfort thing. And that child needs it. My daughter who is just 1 month older than Suri still uses her bottle when she is teething. Every kid is different. And Katie is a first time mom so she is probably trying to keep her baby .

  89. Anon says – reply to this

    1289

Re: kirsten – nope it's just the plastic liner in the bottle that makes it look like tissues

  90. XENU says – reply to this

GEEZ DONT U IDIOTS KNOW THAT ALL SCIENTOLOGISTS DRINK BREASTMILK FOR LIFE!!!

  91. badstriker says – reply to this

    1291

She should have gotten rid of a bottle by 9-12 months! There is no reason that child shouldn't be drinking out of a sippy cup or straw. LAZY !!!! LAZY!!! LAZY!!!! parents!

  92. bsdstriker says – reply to this

    1292

She won't look so cute with baby bottle rot on her front teeth from being dependent on a bottle too long. She'll look like all the other kids who have lazy parents that are to scien-stupid to read the literature about what's best for their kids. Can scientologists read? Maybe they can't, which is why they don't know any better……It's kind a like being a crack-head but you make way more $$$
