This Is A Serious Question
Filed under: Baby Blabber > Tom Cruise
Suri Cruise has been stepping out with her daddy in NYC these last few days.
The child is now 2 years old.
Isn't that too old to still be sucking on the bottle??????

way too old. my childrens' doctor says 15 months. It starts affecting speech after that.
much too old. it's bad for her mouth and teeth.
My son's doctor recommended he be off the bottle asap. She should be able to use a sippy cup by now. But that's just our doctor…..
Actually no,
The W.H.O., canadian and americain pediatric society recommend that a child be breastfeed until 2 years of age, so it is not uncommon to see a child using a bottle after 2 years of age. Children move on to different stages at different times and obviously Suri is not ready to be weaned from the bottle yet
Re: elyse – At 2 they are not sill transitioning to solids. They start transitioning at 6 months. By 1 she should have been weaned to a sippy. At 2 they eat normal food and should not have bottles.
At that age in public this is just fine ,,,,, at home I am sure it is a cup,,, trust me I am a Mom
Re: wang – your kid will have major dental problems, that's what's wrong
we have a 15 month old and our pediatrician wanted us to wean our son from the bottle between 12 - 14……… maybe it has some super scientology crazy brain washing juice in it!!!!!!!!!
Pin stripped leggings and a purple velvet dress. What kid wears this???? Moreover, get that bottle out of that TODDLERS mouth!
Come on, it's not too old!
For her it's like a "security blanket", like a teddy bear…
It means security.
And when we see her family… I really think she needs that!!!
YES. It is so bad for her teeth its ridiculous. She should still be having milk, but she should be having it from a cup, to those that are using the milk thing as an excuse. And if it is being used a soother, they are going to have more problems than just her teeth. There are so many opinions on this topic, but it is ideal for a child to be off the bottle by 1.
defenately, defenately, defenately toooooo old!
and very bad for teeth!!!!!!!!
Re: Emma Goldman –
I'M WITH EMMA.
Besides. This is just a picture. She probably uses both. My kid does. Especially when she is in an uncomfortable situation. I think Paparzzi would be reason enough to be uneasy. Give her the damn bottle if she wants it!!!!!!!!
thats an old pic i saw it before dont try to fool me perez.
YES…its too old for a bottle!!! If it were Britney walking around with a 2 year old sucking a bottle everyone would be going crazy!! As the mother of two children I know for a fact my pediatrician said no bottle after 1!!!!!
NO i think it's fine. Suri is soo adorable!
You're an idiot Perez!!! Children drink out of bottle and even breastfeed until 4 years or older.
No - duuurrr
For all the complaints I may have against Tom cruise. That is certainly not one of them.Four is too old.Two is fine.Stop nitpicking every non issue Perez.
Leave her hair ALONE!
Don't be so judge mental Perez! Milk in a bottle at that age is quite normal!
yes definitely - she will end up with rotten teeth…
My grandson was 3 1/2 years old and still took a bottle when he was tired or could not get to sleep….I don't think this is anybody's business but her parents. If they are happy with this, so be it!!!
perez arent u too old to be sucking dick? I think so bitch yet u wont stop. Dont be talking shit about no ones babies is there not a fucking thing u respect u bitch?
Um, how about she stays up until 11 at night? Isn't that kinda bad for a kid? I thought it was grown ups who screw up the sleep cycle by staying awake at night, and sleeping when it's light out. Better for the body (and a growing body) to get to bed early!
Perez I am a nursing student, and yes it is very common at 2 years old to still be using a bottle, it is around this time that a child will be weened off it
She's still moving around the wolrd night and day in her parent's arms while they're running most of time, so even if she wanted to use a glass, she would not be able to drink it! lol
No, every baby is different. C'mon, don't be so hard, she's just a bebe!
Every child is different, most people bottlebreak their babies when they start eating solid food. She's going to have buck teeth if they don't stop her…
It's the alien juice she's drinking
YES!!!!! It is so bad for their teeth. It can cause tooth decay & bucked teeth. They just don't want to deal with the crying. People who give their kids pacifiers same thing.
Leave Suri alone. Some kids do it earlier than others. My son is very attached to his bottle still and he and Suri were born on the same day and my husband is a doctor.
My son is two, I stopped giving him a regular bottle about 9 months ago, but I do let him have one occasionally, especially if he is extra fussy or sick. I am still trying to ween him off the pacifier. If it makes the kid happy it isn't that much of a problem. I am sure they give her sippy cups most of the time.
I love everything you say, but really Perez, come on. It is NOT unusuall for a 2 year old to drink a bottle. Do all 2 year old do it? No. But I think you stretching here.
first of all, that child should be getting breast-fed. second, she is too old for the bottle, if she doesn't stop soon she is going to have a huge gap between her front teeth. not to mention the fact that children her age often keep the nipple in their mouths when not drinking, which leads to tooth decay from the sugars in the milk.
no dumbass its not too old to be sucking out of a bottle…most two and even three year olds still use a bottle on occasion..im sure she uses a sippy cup and a regular cup as well there are certain times when you have a baby that it is more convenient to have a bottle with you because they do spill them such as when you are out and about..like tom is here..perez you seriously need a clue about some things.
YES!!! way too old. my son was of the bottle at the 1 year mark
Our 10 month old little girl is currently in the transition between bottle and sippy cup. Our Pediatrician reccommend by age 12-15 months she be completely off the bottle.
it doesnt lead to tooth decay morons unless u dont brush your teeth..im sure they brush her teeth..u ppl really have no idea..doctors suggest a lot of things but until you raise a child you'll have no clue..so shut up if you don't know what your talking about.
ok doesn't anyone have anything else better to do than critique toms parenting skills…every child is different, there is nothing wrong with her drinking from her bottle, would you rather the baby be drinking from a liquor bottle or something at least then thats something to talk about…so for those of you who have nothing else better to do than to pick on a 2 year old regardless of who her parents are…GET A LIFE!!!!! for F@Q sakes!!!!!
No binky- no bottle after one year!! Lazy parenting is the only reason kids are still using binky's and bottle's after year.
Yes, she is never photographed without that platex nurser! Weaning from bottles should begin after 1st birthday. Leah Remini's 4 year old is still on bottles, so maybe it is a scientology thing?
No, it's not too old for her to still have a bottle. Think how long we're on this earth for? And think how young she is then. Kids her age still need some kind of security - a pacifier, sippie cup, bottle, blanket, stuffed animal, etc. It's completely normal and there is nothing wrong with it. She's probably not so much drinking out of it as she's using it for security. Also, look at her life and all the cameras that are around, all the strange people around, etc. She definitely needs something to make herself feel secure. My sister took her baby's bottle away from him at 1 year of age, and now he needs a sippie cup with him to go to bed. So, if it's not one thing a baby needs, it's something else. She won't be drinking out of a bottle forever, so let her be - she's only 2 for crying out loud!
No big dea! My daughter is 2 anda half and still drinks milk from her bottle.
Re: Ashley – uhm i see no blanket in the picture. just a cute velveteen dress and stockings.
Well, personally I think it is in public. They should try to wean her off. Because it will soon just become a habit and not used for nourishment. I put both my kids on sippy cups at 5 months. However, they took a bottle before nap and bedtime, but never in public after age 16 months. I just think its odd to have a child walking around and chewing on their bottles. I've seen pictures of Suri walking around with the bottle just hanging out of her mouth, and it was swinging around. It kind of looks silly.
YES that is WAY to old. Most kids are done with bottles and gone on to sippy cups at a little over a year.
i guess their nanny isn't doing her job.
yes. maybe it's some fucked up scientology shit….
My baby is two years old and there is no way she will let go of the bottle anytime soon… I think its fine, its not a big deal.
Most Def! The child needs to weeen off the nipple!!!
Waaaaay too old.
Re: elyse –
they can drink milk out of a cup. and kids are eating solids before they are 2 years old!!!! where are you from????
I am getting a HUGE kick out of all the people saying "YES! WAY TOO OLD! MY kid was off the bottle by 7/9/11/whatever"–
Here's your cookie, which you apparently feel you deserve for pushing your child into early independence, which is for some reason held in such high regard in the US.
If you're saying it's bad because of tooth decay, then you do have a point–but many kids use bottles till 2 and they have no problems w/tooth decay because their parents have been diligent about dental hygiene.
But if you have no real argument–other than "I said it's wrong and so does my ped (keep in mind it wasn't long ago that peds urged moms to use formula instead of breastmilk) and if you don't do what I did then you aren't as good as me"–then you have a sad, small life.
considering in some countries kids breastfeed until 5, i don't really think this is that bad. it might just be more convenient for katie and tom for her to drink out of a bottle than a sippy cup, or suri might like it more. they probably should break the habbit soon and give her a sippy cup or kids travel cup instead.
Re: AnguillaGyal – I LOVE ANGUILLA! I STAYED THERE TWICE AT THE SONESTA BEACH RESORT ABOUT 10 YEARS AGO. I DON'T THINK IT'S THERE ANYMORE. I THINK THEY RE-DID IT AND TURNED IT INTO CUISINART RESORT AND SPA. WOULD YOU KNOW IF THAT'S CORRECT, SUGAR? THE SONESTA BEACH RESORT WAS AT RENDEZVOUS BAY AND HAD A MOORISH THEME, WITH VIEWS OF ST. MARTIN. WERE THOSE EVER DREAM TRIPS!!!
No, it's just fine. She probably won't take milk from a cup which is common. She likely drinks juice etc. from a cup.
Re: elyse – YOUR STUPID
Not really. It's a comfort thing for kids and I don't blame her for it. Everytime she goes out with her mom & dad lightbulbs are flashing at her!!!!!
A lot of people on here say that she should be switched from a bottle to a sippy. Only thing….a sippy is just a glorified bottle. I just think it's funny how some are all upset saying that she should be on a sippy. It's basically the same thing. Maybe they keep the kids on the bottle a little longer and transition to a regular cup. So, even if they are on the bottle longer, they are never on the sippy, so it's better in the long run.
Re: sharon –
that's just nasty to have your kid speaking and in pre-k wanting to suck on your tit. i'm all for breastfeeding to a MAX age of 15 months.
until 4 years old should be a form of child abuse.
actually its not old at all.. its completely normal for kids as old as 4 to be still sucking on a bottle.. its a comfort/habit thing and is very hard to break.
Yes -she should be using a sippy cup. They should be using a sippy by one year. My daughter didn't fully give up the bottle until 18 mos. - and I heard it from everyone - the doctor, my family - strangers on the street - that she was too old to still be on the bottle. And that was at 18 mos!! 2 years is WAY too old.
And is it just me, or does her hair look MUCH lighter??
so she's gonna start getting like a black tooth right?
maybe they'll think its like a scientology miracle and
she'll be the new leader of their world.
Yes it is too old. Her teeth are in and the bottle can mess them up.
My daughter is 2 and still uses a bottle a couple times each day. Kids all develop at different stages, and some kids hang on to the bottle as a security object. Why are we all in such a hurry to make them grow up? It's not bad for their teeth as long as you brush them after each bottle.
yes! she should have given it up a year ago!
I've only one child, and I am a registered nurse, but this means nothing. If she has a bottle for a while, and her teeth are cleaned afterward, then it's a wash. It also depends on what the child is drinking: JUICES ARE THE WORST.
They cause insulin resistance, hyperactivity (from the sugar), and rotten teeth.
Perhaps she had the bottle, as she was in public, and afraid of cameras. If this is the only time she has her "BaBa", she's not getting one very often!!!
way too old, my son gave it up at 1. i guess famous people have different rules.
Who says its too old? There are no studies that show that using a bottle at 2 (or 3 or 4) have any harmful development on a child. Bottles are used often at naptimes and bedtimes and are seen as a safety object, or something to comfort the child. With Suri in the press and being hounded by photographs, it makes sense that they give her a bottle to comfort the poor child. Why would they take it away and give her a sippy cup for no reason? Rubbish! The real question is, isn't she too young to be part of this celebrity mess!
Re: abc123 –
Your comment is alarming. If you equate feeding and nurturing a child with abuse, then you have some serious issues that you should probably address.
Before you say it–no, I did not choose to breastfeed until 4–my personal choice was to breastfeed until 1 1/2.
No it's still ok but it's not a good look in public, I'd fake the funk and use a sippy cup when not at home, lol
No. I'm sure she's drinking out of a regular cup. She's probably using it as a "security blanket" of sorts. My son did the same thing. No big deal.
I've always thought that every time I see a pic of her with the bottle! You need to switch to cups at age 1!!
not really, she's still a toddler
perez, are you a parent, jack ass? she is fine.
they need to start weaning her NOW leah remini's daughter is almost 4 and has 6 bottles a night….bad news
that baby is cute. she can do whatever she needs.
Re: Bonne – I guess they're all just pictures. Except this poor abused child is ALWAYS nursing on a baby bottle. You know ALL
Sci-intolerant-turds are bad parents. Just look at Johnny Revolta and his bitch dyke of a wife KELLY–did you know when their autistic spawn has a fit (which of course he'll do since he gets no medical treatment whatsoever for his autism) KELLY screams to the governess "Take care of IT!" Really, honey, she calls her own child IT! Unbelievable–well I guess it is actually pretty believable, considering the parents are SCIENTOLFUX!!! Ta Ta, Sweetie.
Uh, SO WHATTT????? Did you see him on Oprah, for sweet Lords sake??? They set it all up so he looks like the lone, remaining, legendary Movie Star in the ga(y)laxy, it was TWO HOURS of a Tom Cruise COMMERCIAL!! No, more like INFOMERCIAL!!! Whata world..does scientology have an equivalent for "oy vay"? I dont have words to describe the patronizing tone, the mutual ass-kissing between he and Op, the cameo performances by "Kate" …
The only ONLY one who got Real was Jaime Fox. He was great. He said all the negative pub of the last few years HAS gotten to "TC", and he advised him to "be himself".
THAT will be the DAY!!!
At least he has toned down that manic intensity and manic unexplainable laughter, his stock response…
But yeah, let his kid have her ba-ba.
Kids love them for self-soothing. She will out grow it.
Perez, paople who have no kids never know this type of stuff. Stick to what you know about…doggies, divas, hmmmm….dieting?
Bye darl!!!
Ummm…YES. These people are ridiculous.
Re: lellyxbelle – What kind of ridiculous comment is this? Most reputable dr's. and the Canadian Pediatric Society recommend breastfeeding until 2 yrs. old at least. The WORLDWIDE average is 4.5 yrs. Get educated before you make uninformed, small-minded comments.
At least Suri has an excuse: she is only 2 years old.You are 30 and still suck cocks!
not at all.. I know kids that still suck the bottle at 5…leave her alone..I really think that kids is where we should all draw the line..leave her alone..
poor suri all cuz of her dad hes so odd!
our pedi looked at me like I was crazy for giving my son a bottle at 15 months…they're supposed to be off by one!
i agree tom cruise is a weirdo
It must be her Scientologist zombie juice! I wonder if Katie drinks hers from a cup or a bottle!!!
SuRI is soo cute i think its fine to have a bottle
As a pediatrician, in my opinion, yes, it is too old. We encourage a switch to a sippy cup beginning at 6 months. There is no reason why Suri would be using a bottle unless she has not been made to do so. Some children have toruble but there are many wonderful transitional bottle to cup types out there and most of the time, the chil doesn't even know they are being switched from bottle to sippy cup.
No, not at all. Every child is different and develop at different rates. My own, who just turned 21 months, still likes his milk in a bottle but will only take water from a cup or sippy. Go figure. I am sure he'll wean out of it soon, and we'll push for it more as he nears 2. But it is completely fine. It doesn't mean the parents are bad or the child is being babied.
That is what probably comforts their little one, so let's give them a break. And a blankie for that age is fine as well. I wrap my son in one when he's out of the car before entering it or entering a building, especially if I feel a chill outside.
We cannot impose our own ways on another, especially when it comes to parenting. As long as that child is growing up healthy and fine, and it sure looks that way here, then I am sure her parents are parenting well. What works for them or anyone else may not work for us, but it doesn't make them, or us, bad parents for doing things differently.
It's bad for her teeth.
i have tons of friends with kids that use bottles at that age. it depends more on what the parents want to do.
Seriously, asking your readers if a bottle at age 2 is okay is like saying if everyone on this planet should weigh 100 pounds. Doesn't make sense. Every child has their own set point and when they're ready to move on to sippy cups, glass cups etc that's up to the child.
Perez I expected a bit more sensitivity since you're trying to lead a healthier life. If mom and dad can get calcium rich fluids to be ingested by their baby bottle, cup, or spoon then congrats to them! 2 yr olds are picky eaters…anything helps.
Yes most pediatricians reccomend 13-18 months as in the case for my kids. She should be drinking out of a sippy cup by now. The longer you let a kid have the bottle the harder it is to get them to give it up. Proud Parent of 3
Seems like milk or juice would sit on their teeth and cause cavities regardless of whether it came out of a bottle or sippy cup. Am I wrong? My 20 month old is still on a bottle. It keeps him happy like nothing else. I try to brush his teeth every night. I'd like to say he'd be off by 2 but easier said then done.
Re: ns –
That is the best response so far!!
I thought she just turned 1.
um yea so she souldn't still be drinking from a bottle
No, she is still a baby and at that age most children are transistioning and using both a sippy cup and bottle. On the other hand I think there are other children with more issues than using a bottle that everyone can worry about, Suri seems to be well taken care of and if she isn't you'll know soon enough. Get a life already!
Stupid f*cking Americans!
The World Health Organization and Health Canada both recommend breast-feeding for at least 2 years. Which means, they're very likely to still be using bottles as well. My son is 2 and a half and still loves his bottle.
