All of her tours have been spectacles! She was among the first performers to change the way concerts are conceived & executed. She was using video screens & imagery as far back as the Who's That Girl Tour in 1987. Blond Ambition Tour is the all-time best pop concert ever. Great sets, great songs, great costumes & lighting.
All these younger acts today, whether they know it or not, have been influenced by Madonna's career. They can only HOPE to last as long as Madonna.
As for Mariah…………..she'll sound like shit when she's 50 because she screeches all of the time. Decades of that stuff will ruin her voice. And a large chunk of people who buy her music don't even bother to see her live. Her concerts aren't events, aren't talked about or years after.
Madonna's tours always sell out, no matter the price of tix, and they are THE event to score tickets to. All of you idiots who haven't seen her live don't know what it's like. It's not the same on TV/DVD/video, etc.

I am - used to be? - a big Madonna fan but I do not like Hard Candy. I think its one of her worst albums, no it is her worst album. Its horrible. The last concert was horrible too. No air conditioning, $200 for crappy tickets, no encore. Not worth it.

In the U.K its £160.00 for best tickets!! Im guessing that the £55.00 will put you on the roof or in the car-park outside the stadium???
On top of that is the merchandise, travel expenses ( for many !) etc etc.
God, why does she charge so much??? Prince played consecutive nights at the 02 Arena in London and charged just £31.21 so that it could be " affordable for everybody ".
She knows that people will pay it, so she charges it, its utterly appalling, as whatever angle you look at it, some people, die-hard fans, simply cannot afford these prices. How id LOVE some interviewer so ask her " so why do you charge such extortionate prices for your concerts !?"
And being aware that she generally radiates the kind of warmth in interviews usually found in Alaska in December, she'd probably respond with a " because i can " and shrug.
I saw her Girlie Show Tour in 1993 and my ticket cost £23.50, it was an incredible concert, she was on top form, the staging , costumes and dancers were all superb. So im not a hater, but seriously, WHY does she have to charge such high prices, as in doing so she alienates so many of her life-long fans who may not be in a financial position to simply fork out £160.00 on a whim.
