Who Would Have Thought???

Filed under: Madonna > Music Minute > Old People

Neil Diamond is back…in a big way!

According to Billboard, Diamond is on his way to nabbing the #1 album spot next week with his new release, Home Before Dark.

Madonna's Hard Candy could be knocked from the top by…Neil Diamond?

Hilarious!

Another interesting factoid: if Neil Diamond does indeed secure the #1, it will be his first ever in the forty plus years he's been in the biz.

Billboard does make an interesting point. Mother's Day is this weekend and Neil Diamond is totally mommy music. We might even pick up Neil for our mom!

Could this be the thing propelling Neil to the forefront? That and maybe his appearance on Idol this week totally helped!

Plus, everyone knows it's usually the older peeps (the kind who like Neil Diamond type stuff) who actually BUY music.

We hear that there's a lot of youngins who love to download pirated music on the net!

Perez- I know you don't read your comments anymore, and more than likely you don't post these any more. You are too busy kissing asses to get invites and *chuckle* designing clothes. But maybe one of your employees will read this and notify you that most of your readers are on to you and know that you get some kind of kickback by having your lackeys say nasty things about some celebs and kissing the asses of others….Madonna for instance. She's NEVER had much talent, but had excellent PR. Her album sucks ( I'm sure you never even listened to it)- Neil has more talent in his little toe than Madonna ever had in her old veiny ass botoxed body. So STFU with the celeb ass kissing and have your employees get real.

I think Neil Diamond had a #1 hit with "Cracklin' Rosie" in 1970…..but that was a single. Not sure if you meant a number 1 ALBUM, or single.

He also hit #1 with the dreadful "You Don't Bring Me Flowers" dueting with Babs in 1978

Oy Perez, please, Neil Diamond has gotten the best reviews for this album, I dare say, the best of the year so far. He's got the mighty mighty Rick Rubin producing, their second collaboration together. Rubin did wonderful things for that other legend, the late Johnny Cash. When Madonna is worm food the only thing she'll be remembered for is some fun material that amounts to a pile of dog poo.

I just saw Neil perform at a small bar in NYC called the Bitter End. It was the best show I have ever seen. Imagine have a drunken sing along to sweet caroline in a dark bar, with neil actually singing live. Words can not describe……..

Neil Diamond is a musical god and you, Perez, need to get yourself educated! Ok, in fairness, he did put out some cheesy stuff but his early hits are peerless. He has more natural talent in one of his nose hairs than Madonna could ever dream of.

I saw Neil Diamond with my dad in Liverpool, England a few months ago, it was well funny cos it was full of old people, and being 17 meant i was like the youngest by a good few decades! only went cos i love a few of his songs due to my dad playing me them when i was younger hahaha.
it'll be HILARIOUS if he knocks Madge off the top spot!! :p

lol who's surprised by this? that old cunt Madonna is so fucking irrelevant now that old bitch should take this as a hint to retire already, her album's pretty much fucking flopped anyways 282,000 doesn't mean shit anymore, and who gives a shit about worldwide sales? If you flop in the biggest music market which is the U.S. you're pretty much done, this bitch will be lucky if Crap Candy goes gold Mariah Carey's newest album went gold in 2 weeks, what now bitch?! LOL Vadgedonna's done! retire your menopausal bitch! How much longer are her shitty tours gonna last? Sorry to say 10 years from now I will not be watching grandma shake her ancient ass on stage I can barely stand to look at her now at least Mariah Carey will still be able to entertain because she can actually sing, unlike this old whore she's done! THANK GOD! GO NEIL!

Re: K – Actually he's right. But that's because over the years Neil refused to pay off the disc jockeys to play his songs. He didn't whore himself out to every show on tv and on the radio. (he refused to appear on tv for at least 10 years after doing a few real early guess appearances).
