It's a beautiful movie that I enjoyed. I thought it was fun too and I am 37? I mean.. no… the story is not why I liked it. I liked the way it was edited. I liked the uniqueness of it. I liked it much mor than I thought I would. Like a 7.5 on a 10. It's a fantasy movie, so it is what it is. It is art.

Isn't this movie aimed at 6 year old boys? It's a childrens movie. I have a son who wants to see it, and I'm looking forward to it.

The original was mindless, cheesy, tended to lack cohesive plot, and was all about the imagery.

They said the same things about The Grinch and not only did it make a lot of money, but everyone I know liked it too!
OK, I'm a 6 yo boy. I'm taking my kids now. This post is probably the best thing to happen to market the movie.
I saw the midnight showing, and it wasn't that bad! Did the actual story line kinda suck? Yeah, it did! However, the effects were awesome! It kept my interest the whole time!
And plus, the little boy with the chimp flips off another character! It was priceless!
The kids need movies too and I think this is a great film for the six-year-olds!!!!
I too can't wait for Dark Knight!!

this movie was awesome..i saw it at IMAX and it seriously couldn't have been better. I'm recommending it to everyone I see. Rotten Tomatoes gives it a low percentage score, but actually read the reviews. I went into the theater with low expectations because of YOUR posts on how "shiteous" it seemed. Speed Racer blew my expectations..awesome cast, great story..yes it was a long movie, but every scene was vital to the film. Maybe you should stick to watching your buddy Paris' films to get your cheap thrill. Be professional and see the whole movie first before you critique.

actually I saw this last night, it ruled. Way better than Iron Man, or any of the other shite movies out this weekend. But yeah, if you don't like creativity, color, families, cars, or having fun, you probably won't like it. You should also kill yourself though.

It wasn't that bad (the first 7 minutes)–although this is coming from a person with a bagazillion nieces and nephews–but i have a feeling that after that scene, it all went down hill =)
(1) The only people leaving positive comments here are all probably Warner Bros. employees/staff.
(2) This movie looks dazzlingly bad, as most mainstream garbage is these days.
(3) Do any of you really think Perez ever reads these comments? Of course he doesn't. This comment section, like most internet comment sections, are here to do one thing: Generate ad revenue from repeat visits and user interaction. A brilliant way to make $$$ off the unwashed masses, which most of you are.

back in it's day speed racer was over the top thats what this is supposed to be. It's FUN! At least I feel like I'm getting my 10 bucks worth. I can't wait to see it - should be GREAT in IMAX.

This wasn't bad, IMO. I thought it was visually STUNNING. As for the story/dialog . . . well, this is a PG movie aimed at the little kiddies. It's on par with basically every other children's film I've been forced to watch.

i saw it last night and it was surprisingly good. it probably doesn't fit with the old speed racer cartoons, but its got badass fights and car scenes. predictable plot, but enjoyable nonetheless.

They made this movie for families and the fans of the show. From the looks of it they def. did it justice. I loved Speed Racer as a kid and can't wait to see it. Love all the colors and shit.

i didnt think it was that bad, its not meant for adults. its meant for little kids and if adults like it, then so what? im 16 and i thought it was pretty good. and plus it has emile hirsch in it and thats enough for me to go and see it.

You don't need to be an editor to figure out that this is not the first 8 minutes. It appears to be a compilation clip of scenes throughout the movie.
Regardless, it looks retarded and was shot pretty much entirely in front of a green screen.
This is exactly why I no longer go to the movies or buy DVDs. I download them for free from bit torrent sites and burn copies from the rental store. After spending thousands upon thousands of my hard earned cash for VHS, then Laserdiscs, then DVDs and now Blu-Ray, I have finally figured out that most of what Hollywood produces is absolute shit and this sucker ain't payin' for it no more.

It's rated PG because it's designed for kids. Plus, if you knew anything about Speed Racer you'd know it was a cartoon and therefore has to be over the top for them to use real people. I think kids will love this.

"Shiteous" would be a complement for this movie. Just came back from seeing it the theaters and if i did not have my two young kids with me I would have left after the first two minutes. Only good part in the movie is Matthew Fox as Racer X - hottie!

This movie was extremely entertaining to my young son. Just because it would appeal to young kids does not make it a terrible movie.
