I don't think it looks that bad & I'm a 17 year old girl. I'd like to see it either way, I was a big fan of the cartoon when I was little. That and Sailor Moon.
thought it was going to be horrible…really liked it. it was completely different than any other movie out there. pretty good.

sadly, . . a lot of you guys don't seem to know the history behind this film. It's based on a SUPER popular kid's anime back in the times, . . my dad's watch it, my uncles have seen it, . .it's classic. And yes, . . it is for kids, . . but something like this being turned into a movie is just as exciting from some people out there than dark knight (which i'm goign to catch for sure) . . .
I haven't seen the movie yet and i'm not sure if i'm going to want to or if i even have time, . . . . but i just want to defend it for it's history.
this was pretty great. unlike anything i'd ever seen, outside the realm of fine art.

We actually saw the movie yesterday and formed our own opinions. My family of 5 loved the movie. I was worried because it is so long, but the kids enjoyed it and even want to see it again.
Glad to say my kids, husband and myself are not sheeples.

Yet again–Hollywood didn't bother to hire a good WRITER. Instead they put millions into the special effects and the story is squat. Bottom line–you have to have a descent story to have a good movie.

i love speed racer!! my dad had the vhs tapes, and whenever it was on cartoon network i was there watching it. the movie looks amazing, it does it justice.

i am a 16 yr old girl and i saw this movie last night with my 20 yr old brother, and his friend. all of us thought the movie was really good. maybe because when we were younger we actually watched the show. the effects were really good and i really liked the movie i actually wouldn't mind seeing it again.

Whats so bad? Obviously, you don't remember the cartoon show. It was campy. It was very fakish. I was laughing hard at the first car crash and all the fake yelling. That is exactly how I remember the cartoon!! How else were they supposed to film this?? Its about cars. Its about a silly cartoon. That is Speed Racer. And besides its NOT supposed to be about anything too deep. Don't you recall any of the shows? They were so unrealistic. If they made the movie too real, it wouldn't be Speed Racer!! I think it looks fun and it did bring back memories. I'm going to see it this week for sure now!!

i saw this last night and it was soooooooooooo good. i admit i went mostly becuase of emile hirsch, but thats beside the point. the story line was really cute, it was bright, fluffy and fun. i love love loved it. the colours were amazing and not seizure inducing at all. people who think it is, are just stupid beucase it really isnt. i have no idea why the heck perez is bashing this movie so much. he has absoulutly no right to.

Besides, this movie had so much potential..the casting was perfect and the nostalgia value would bring in lots of people. Too bad the producers sucked it out.
Horton hears a Who got great reviews but it was an experience in torture for me. Watching Speed Racer with my kid was a far better experience at least I stayed awake.
that was an AMAZING movie, and it had a deep message! he was doing something people dont usually consider art, but when he was behind the wheel it was his passion, the thing that gave him life, and THAT is ART! Get the bright colors and shit… geez it was a main theme! Sorry folks I'll go back to oprah haha! Go see it in IMAX! Here he comes here comes speed racer, he's a demon on wheels!! (side note i really hated that cartoon, but that movie blew me away)

I think the movie didn't look all that bad. Lay off it a little - anyone that enjoys action/fantasy would like it.
You know it's easy to dismiss it without having seen it. I admit the trailers for it sucked but I went to go see it and — you know, I actually liked it. It was probably about 20 minutes too long, but I thought it'd be this piece of trash from the trailers and what everyone else was saying and both me and my date liked it. It's not that bad.
