Well, I despise abortion. I think it is a bit much, but it's better than being a baby killer like so many girls are today. Too bad they don't adopt. They have a lot of love to give.
I saw a special on this "family" a few years back, around 15 or so kids. I almost threw up. Those children are slaves and I'm not kidding. They have no fun, no tv, they are just starting another fucking compound that I guess wont be paying any taxes. what 19, 20 year old kid is still at home caring for their brothers and sisters? They are brainwashed and its sick. They will do the exact same thing when they start the massive breeding program they've been taught is the "lords" way. oh yea, they get MASSIVE donations too!! from media, neighbors, churches and their house is unbelieveable, like movie stars homes. BULLSHIT I SAY!
Ever thought how many kids each of these seventeen (or twenty, or twenty-five…) will have when they get started? It will be an environmental and global catastrophe!! I have a thing for "religion"…. "God makes me do it, I am just following his will, don't blame me!" But I AM blaming them, because these people are selfish and inconsiderate!!! The year is 2008 and this planet is already overpopulated, polluted and I don't know how many animal species are vanishing EVERY DAY!

I think it's pretty selfish of her, not just becuase of global warming and all that, but what kind of a life will this baby have? How much individual attention and nurturing will he or she get? Will this kid be able to go to college or have any nice things? Think about it, how many of you would want to be born into this family? If you love children, there are other ways to be involved with them than to have 18 kids. She could voulenteer at a preschool or daycare or even be a surrogate for a woman who couldn't get pregnant. I don't think it's cool at all, the whole thing makes me sad.

I guess when she got to 10, 18 really doesn't seem like more. It's probally easier for her becasue she has a ton of teenagers to help out! haha But, she's a great mom, good for her! who's to say she can't have more…it's her body!!
Don't feel sorry for her, she does it because it's "God's will" that she keeps getting pregnant. Religious fanatics like this are why the world of overpopultaed. If you have ever watched any of their programs or researched you would reaize that these people love their children and they are well taken care of. I'm sorry, I love kids…and I have 2…but this family is ridiculous and selfish to have that many kids. There are so many of us out there that can't have children and we see someone like this and just want to throw up! I would be so happy if me and my 2nd husband could just have ONE child together and this woman is having her 18th! I find it very hard to believe that they can support them. I can only guess that they are on some kind of assists. We have only two kids and making good money and it is expensive raising them and getting them through college. There is now way they are doing this all on their own. Health and dental insurance on all of them alone would take a whole month salary if not more.
This will be the last one. Mrs. Duggar's doctor is going to be forced to lay down the law due to some threat to the mother's health in this pregnancy; they'll be all right, but they're going to have a scare. If the parents have the sense that God gave a doorknob, they'll take the doctor's advice and get sterilized.
SO I actually took the time to read all of the comments left on this page… I am a long time friend of the Duggar family and I know every one of those kids personally. I have known them for 13 years ( I was 11 when I met them) and really I dont think any of you have the right to say anything bad about their family if you dont know them personally. I mean really people get on with your own life and stop worrying about everyone elses. I think that if they want to have good well behaved members of society then thats totally fine with me! In the 50's and 60's, most Catholic families had more than 5 kids, and double digit families were not rare. Effective birth control along with the emancipation of women changed that demographic in a hurry.

back in the 70s and 80s we fell for the "no more than 2 kids" line of BS because it would "save the environment" and keep the earth from "being overpopulated." If we'd KNOWN what it really meant was we'd let millions of immigrants in rather than having our own kids, i'd have had 18 kids too. They can have as many kids as they want. Here in Canada, the grand-father of my friend had 35 children from 2 marriages! He has almost 100 cousins and 150 grand-cousins. Few years ago, the first 7th generation baby was borned!
These kids are remarkably well behaved. I think it's selfish for the parents to keep having kids. The kids are forced to be in a large family whether they want it or not. How are they going to put them through college? Oh wait they're home school so probably no college for them. They want to have "as many kids as god gives them". Puh-leeze.

My uncle actually knows this family and thinks it SO great having all those kids. So does my father! I told my dad that her husband needs to get off that women because they are going to kill her before she's 50! No woman can give birth and stay healthy - what is does to her body. How's her husband going to feel when she dies prematurely and he has to care for all those kids. She's just as much at fault for letting it happen. The men in my family thinks this is so great and so wonderful. I asked them how many times have you given birth? do they know what trauma it puts on a women? I don't think they do.
What's all the fuss. They are loving parents who are taking great care of their children. They pay for these kids and are instilling good values, such as caring for others, respect and hard work brings intrinsic rewards. The pay for all their needs and in fact, they aren't costing the taxpayers anything to school them since they are home schooled. I have seen them on various shows and they are well spoken and thoughtful people. The husband does well for himself financially, so leave it be. There are enough "parents" out there having kids one after the other by many different men, with no means to support these kids…..THAT'S who you should direct your nasty comments to!

If only more families instilled them same values they have, the world would be a better place.
